Fetilizer Friday/Flaunt Your Flowers Oct16/09

Welcome to another edition of Fertilizer Friday! I hope you all have lots and lots of flowers to flaunt for me...because I have very little to share anymore since the snow fell and stayed now for a full week!!! yea...I said the "S" word.
So...if this is your first visit to Tootsie Time...please feel free to learn how to link in by clicking the link in the menu at the top of the page...I invite you all to join me...I just love looking at your gardens and find so much inspiration from the things you share!
Lets get this party started!
My contribution today is from inside the greenhouse where I have had some very pleasant surprises this week!!!
This is my Jade plant. It has been struggling the last bit...we had bugs...I bathed it...then it got a sunburn...I nursed it...and now it needs a bath as it is full of water stains...so when I went to polish the "leaves"...I was shocked to see...
THIS!!!! IT'S BLOOMING!!!! WOOO HOOO!
It is blooming...and not just a few...a whole bunch! I did the bestest happy dance I know how...but I am sure Gloria would be able to teach us a better way...right mom?
Mandevilla is still going strong! There are lots of blooms opening up...I will show the full feature next week...hey..a girl needs something to host with!!! lol
Rose is almost done..but the color is so pretty...
I salvaged a verbena...and it decided to thank me...smells wonderful too...
and then.....I had another big surprise...
Does anyone know what this is?
Yep...those are the seed pods of a spider plant! WOOO HOOO AGAIN!
I posted a while ago about the day I found what I thought was some sort of rodent droppings...and then realized my spider plant had gone to seed...remember??? Well this gigantic specimen is three of those seeds dropped in soil and forgotten for a while....LOOK!!!
LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THIS PUPPY!!! I can't even bring it in the house right now...it is sooo big that it takes up a full 3 foot corner just for the leaves...and it is heavy. I need to pick up some soil and a really great pot...so I can re-pot it and put it on a pedestal somewhere inside!!!
Well...that's it for me...now it's your turn...link in and show me what ya got!
Let's get flaunting!!!

Wow, your jade plant is blooming now. That's great! I can never manage to get my jade plant to bloom. Most of the time, they die from over watering by me even before they could bloom.

I didn't know Jade plants bloomed!
And you're really making me anxious for a greenhouse! I had one years ago-I drug in all my geraniums, impatiens, everything. It was so spectacular in January with everything blooming like mad. Sigh.
Oh, and thank you for the info on heating costs for your greenhouse--I know it's going to be expensive, but frankly, I"m getting tired of long trips, and hubby suggested that money could now be used for heating. YEA!!!

Lovely jade plant!
Great to see the spider plant. I have a variegated one, and a very low-maintenance plant.

I don't have any inside plants. I need to clean up the yard, but it has rained so much lately! Have a good weekend. Kathy

Wow, I wished we lived closer to each other, I love all of the plants you showed today...makes me wish for a spider plant and a jade plant...and oooohhhh that mandevilla...Our temps dropped into the mid to low forties last night and are supposed to drop into the thirties tonight..

Wow you do have the magic touch, spider plants going to seed, the other plants blooming. I still have such a brown thumb. Maybe next year though, right? I'll have to check in with you in early spring for much needed help! Do you still have snow on the ground or has it melted off? Ours usually doesn't stick until the end of November. Watch now we'll get socked in by Halloween bz I said that. Knock on wood QUICK!!

My spider plants bloom and I find little spiders everywhere - outside, inside - wherever there is a little bit of dirt to settle in. I'll try and go around my greenhouse and take some pics to post. I've moved almost everything inside too. PAM

I'm new to your blog, by way of Blotanical. Looks like happy plants you have there, since they're blooming. I'm moving plants inside before the cool air headed this way arrives. Newly potted things got a good drink last night. Don't have photos today because of the rain -- maybe next week.

Holy cow, that spider plant grew like that without your ministrations? I'm impressed!

There was something else I was going to comment on but now I've forgotten. Ack!

Oh! The jade. I didn't even know they flowered!

All of your plants are just gorgeous. I always love seeing them. I don't have anything inside except one lone fern and an ivy. Shame on me. I should try more. Hugs, Marty

Great spider plant. I have a couple and they are great plants. Your indoor plants look great. I am afraid I have joined you in the snow department although our is just a slight covering. Not ready! I have to get out there and see what is left but I am dreading it. Have a great weekend.

You must be happy about the jade plant. I've actually killed one of those before which I was told was hard to do.
That spider plant is huge. Are you going to plant all the babies or leave them. I love spider plants.

Wow, I've never seen a jade plant bloom. Your plants all love your green thumb. When I lived in CA and was stuck inside because of cold weather I had about 50 hoyas to tend for and that's what kept me going through the winter months. Please do post some snow shots for us that are dying of heat! lol

I bet all the plants know they better bloom in your yard or else.....your spider plant is lovely...I have a striped looking one and it really got large this summer, now I have to find the same type of thing to keep it over the winter.

Great pictures as always.

COngrats on the blooming jade! The spider plant is fantastic! I leave mine outside and they freeze every year but they come back(-: I don't have room to put them in the house. They do so great outside too!! I really love Spring when they start to grow back and fill in the sink they are in(-:

Girl you have the touch! I can't wait to see your jade plant in bloom, something I have never seen.

How cool is that? I think we got ours inside in time to save everything but the impatiens (darn it!). Fingers crossed, but your post is keeping me hopeful!

WOW Tootsie! You sure have a lot to show to say you don't have much!! :) I am so impressed with your greenhouse. I would love to start a hobby with a greenhouse, but wouldn't no where to start. I'm sure it's very rewarding to see new plants get a start and thrive!

Two of my very favorites! Jade and Spider plants! You are really good at raising your plants! I want to go out and buy new Jade and Spider plants now! I have had some trouble keeping Jades for some reason. Maybe I am not doing something right.

I brought my ferns in from outside. They were on clearance from Kroger when I got them. They aren't the same kind and the Boston fern grew well but the other (I don't know what kind it is) grew massive! In order to keep them alive through the winter do I just water them and spray them sometimes? I have a picture of them on our blog but they are even bigger than they show. I hope I don't kill them!

Well Glenda, I certainly don't have much in the way of outdoor news to blog about now either. Snow on the ground for a week already? At least ours melted the next day. :>}

I did do a post on spring bulbs today.

Hi Tootsie! Thanks for visiting my blog recently. I love that Mandevilla - what a gorgeous color.

Hey Sylvia,
Tootsie has bulbs for fingers and she probably can most likely grow rat droppings too... probably in the snow! :D

Beautiful as usual! I have 4 mandevalia plants on my porch in planters with trellises. Do you know if I have to bring them in the house when it gets cold?...Christine
