Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers June 18/10

Copy_of_001

Well HELLOOOOO There!!!

It’s Friday again already and that means it’s time to flaunt our flowers, gardens and all things green!

Now if you are not familiar with the rules of this little party…here they are;

If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!

You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!

Your post must include the logo above and a link to Tootise Time, or the linky will be deleted. I don’t mean to be harsh, but there have been a lot of people linking in and when the participants graciously click over to their blogs, there is no sign of Fertilizer Friday anywhere to be found. This is not fair to those who do follow the rules, therefore…well you know!

So? what are you waiting for? Get outside, feed, water, snap and post!

This week it has not been as rainy here in Alberta Canada as it was all the last couple of weeks, but…it has not been all that warm outside…and the clouds overhead have threatened rain on us. I am happy to say that I am seeing some growth in the garden…check it out:

012

I managed to get this bed weeded…it was so full of chick weed that it filled an entire garbage can! Kinda seems bare…ha-ha.

013

I did a quick run out to the country …found a farmer’s field that had the rocks picked and all set off in the ditch…loaded up…and did up my fountain. Yes…those are fake plants…for now…(don’t tell anyone k?) ha-ha…I am a little ashamed to admit it. I do have a plan though…and the fakes will be replaced very soon.

031

My pots seem to have bounced back nicely so far…some are a little spindly on the outside…but get up close and they are loaded with new growth just waiting for a few warmer days to burst on the scene. This one sports my new variety of snap dragon…

005

They are in there…I swear! I am excited to see how they perform this year…if they do well they may just be the new trailer for lots of my hanging baskets next year!

017

This basket is just Alyssum only. It smells fantastic!

037

The dinner plate Dahlia (lower right) is doing well…I have 5 of them this year. The rest of the pots on the bench have decided to make a grow for it too…whew! I was worried!

015

I hung some lights in the “room”…where things seems to be quite happy…

022

I don’t remember the color…or the name of this rose…but she seems happy enough…just loaded with blooms. She was part of a blooms for the cure of breast cancer campaign…I am anxious to see what color…ha-ha…seriously… I can’t remember!

025

Flowering Kale…that I thought had bitten the bucket…woo hoo!!! it’s doing well.

016

Everything in here is doing well …I just love this area. I think it’s because it’s new…and I painted the BBQ for spite…hee hee! (eat your heart out…You know who you are!!! ha-ha)

028

The sunburn on the large planters had taken a toll on the plants…but they seem to have forgotten all about that…and are locked and loaded for a big growth spurt!

018

Three little pots… the stairs to the house…smell soooooo good! (and they are bushy too!)

030

My window boxes…

009

I was cleaning out the greenhouse and came across this old tool belt. It is useless…very hard and crunchy…not easy to wear at all anymore…so…I planted it! I kinda like it!

021

I haven’t shared the front yard much lately. I was afraid that since I gave the englemans ivy a hard cutting…that it would not come back nicely at all. I was wrong…Thank goodness!!! It just needed to be tamed!

Well…that’s all I am going to share this week. I am swamped with things to do…places to go and people who need something done. I made it around to see you all who participated last week…and I hope to do the same this week…AND visit some of the nice people who are so kind to have left such wonderful comments…bare with me…I am one Toots…and I am doin’ the best I can!

I can’t wait to see what you all have to share with me this week…your gardens are all so lovely…inspiring and growing…it makes my heart sing to see!

so? why are you still here???? link up and flaunt with me!

Your plants look awesome! I am amazed at all they have been through - they truly love you! Love the tool belt planter - that is perfect. I wish you lived colser - I just dug up a p[ice of dirt that is by a place where there was road construction and there are tons of rocks that I am moving - I hope to plant wild flowers there this fall - there are so many rocks it will take me all summer to move them.
Thanks for hosting! Paula in Idaho

I figured that with your greenhouse and your green thumb you could grow just about anything, but you amazed me with your plastic plants! How do you plant them, do you have to water them often? Do they need any special kind of soil?

Seriously, your fountain looks very cool, Something like that is on my "someday-I-may" list

I'm so glad everything survived the snow storm. Not only survived, but everything is stunning! You are the hardest working gal around. And your property really shows it. I love the tool belt planter. That's just too cute! I like the water pump display. I saw one at a flea market for $100. Ow! I can't wait to see what you plant there.

I absolutely love your front entrance and the engleman Ivy! I have a story about that plant... when we first bought this 150 year old cheese factory, it was a real derelict from another time. In the back was an old out house (privy). We decided that we would start doing some planting, but we didn't know the first thing about gardening at that point in our lives. I went out and bought several engleman ivies and brought them home to show my wife and then plant...a few days later as I walked past the privy, I realized the same ivy was growing abundantly over the top as well as numerous other places in the yard. That was not the last time that I mistakingly bought plants that grew with abandon in our gardens... Larry

I just found your blog, and what a treat! Your gorgeous gardens are so dreamy. We're in a heat wave here in Dallas TX. I'm glad so see that someone is getting rain, though too much is never fun, either.

By they way, I DID remember to fertilize, thank you for the reminder!! I'm enjoying reading your blog!

Cheers, Andrea

Hi Toots,
I am up too early because my body sometimes jerks in the night and wakes me up. I think I am going to try to go back to sleep, but decided to come see if you had put up your FF post.

I had a feeling your plants were going to have perked up, and am pleased to see how full and lush they are. The fountain is looking awesome. My eyes landed on Troy's comment. I am giggling about that.

I know what you mean by being busy. I think next week, I am going to seriously cut back my blogging time.

I hope your arm is healing. Have a great weekend!

Everything looks so lush and happy! Love the red grill, that's the best repurposing I think I've seen. And I can't wait to share your fountain idea with a friend! Have a great weekend!

Amazing!! That is the only word that comes to my mind. I love your garden. I am particularly fond of viney things and love your flower baskets that flow over the basket. Thank you for showing your front yard too. Beautiful. Your garden is an inspiration to me.

Everything's amazing as usual!! My dahlia is kind of blah right now, I'm thinking a little overwatering if that's possible. Your 'room' is so inviting. And your roses, even without blooms, put mine to shame. Mine are just not lush and bushy. The BBQ is fabulous, and your window boxes that you were ashamed of a few weeks ago are a proud feature today. And finally, your front entry is very elegant. You leave me 'inspired'!!

You bet I'll save you seeds if I get any out of the plant....I miss you too Toots. My elbows have slowed me down a lot, that's why I haven't been emailing or commenting much. Hey, I may have some left over loofah seeds now from the ones my daughter sent me...going to check now!

Darla said...

Found them...check your email!!

Your garden looks so good! It's hard to believe that weeks ago you had tarps up protecting your plants from snow. I love the bench with the pots on it. Our weather has just been blah this year. It still feels like winter.

I'm late I forgot it was Friday. Gotta slow down.
Love your fountain. Well, actually I love everything at your place but o'well. And that bench you did has always been one of my favorites. Wish Bob would whip me out one cause I just got a bunch of new pots.
Hey the tool belt is cool - I bought a tool box at a nursery years ago and just love planting in it. I see 2 of Bobs out in the garage throw away pile. Hmmmmm . . .
