Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers Oct 1/10

Copy_of_001

Once again I am here to say WELCOME to all you Bloggers!/ Gardeners!/ Friends!!!! It’s Friday again already and that means it’s time to flaunt our flowers, gardens and all things green!

Now if you are not familiar with the rules of this little party…here they are;

If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!

You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!

All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and a link to Tootise Time, or the linky will be deleted. I don’t mean to be harsh, but there have been a lot of people linking in and when the participants graciously click over to their blogs, there is no sign of Fertilizer Friday anywhere to be found. This is not fair to those who do follow the rules, therefore…well you know!

So? what are you waiting for? Get outside, feed, water, snap and post!

I have been trying to find one little minute to stop in and share what has been going on here in Tootsie’s house and gardens, but it seems that in my world, the clock got a lot smaller!!!

I make 4 trips to school with my children each day…it seems that every two or three hours I have to stop what I am doing and run either pick up or drop off a kid!!! This makes getting things done in a timely fashion rather difficult! I did however manage to get around and visit all of the Fertilizer Friday people last week!!! I am very happy to say that…as I always feel incredibly bad about it if I don’t.

Can you believe it???? It is already October!!!! Seems like we missed summer this year!!!

This week…I don’t have a lot of blooms to share…but I do have a few…I will begin with a current view of my gardens, and finish up with a current view of my greenhouse. This post is not pretty…consider yourselves warned!!!

018

The killing frosts struck my gardens hard about two weeks ago . All that is left is what you see here.

017

It sure looks bare…I hate pulling everything. It is all behind the hedge right now. The feud with the yard waste removal guy has officially begun…He took 1o large garbage cans filled with flowers last week, 1o large garbage cans filled with flowers this week…and there are 35 more industrial garbage bags just loaded with flowers waiting to be put into the cans in weeks to come. That garbage man just hates my yard…hahaha…oh well…his issue not mine! hahaha.

019

The leaves had not started to fall when I took this photo…Today is a different story…but it was too dark to take a photo today when I finally got the chance…so I had to head to the greenhouse…Wanna see????

083

The Mandevilla vine is growing well inside the greenhouse…in fact it is doing better right now than it has all summer…it’s blooming up a storm!

084

I thought it was lost…it tipped over three times during storms this summer..and in the early spring, it got touched by frost…it is two years old now.

087

I am trying my hand at wintering a Gerber Daisy.

088

I am not sure what is going on here…my Hydrangea has decided to come back to life…but the bloom is not in the right place…it is like it is hiding at soil level…This is one that I got in the spring…and thought it was a gonner!!! I suppose any bloom is a good bloom in this gardener’s world. :)

090

I like to start new plants in the greenhouse over the summer months…and it looks as if they are all doing well…

092

Monstera Deliciosa . Growing like a weed all of a sudden in the greenhouse.

093

Coleus is looking rich…

099

Wandering Jews are so easy to start…but so pretty!!! (I hate that name)

103

I feel very proud to announce that I have not killed this fern yet! (I am a notorious fern killer) there are 2 of them in the greenhouse thriving up a storm…for now anyways!

105

My jade plant that was blooming last summer…didn’t leave the greenhouse since then, maybe that is why she is not blooming this year…Oh well…it’s still alive…and that’s all that matters.

102

Ahhhh! My little piece of heaven…where I go to just be me…where all the worlds stresses just melt away…my safe haven…my special space. Have I mentioned how I enjoy this greenhouse?

Okay…that is all I have to share this week. I don’t have a clue what the heck I will share next week…but I’ll think of something…and hopefully I will have time to make it work.

Next week I hope to post a few of the projects and special things I have been working on for a couple weeks…when I have a chance…things that are important to the house…a winterizing of sorts…and share some other great news that I have. (If it is time to share it) - but for now I will sign off.

Until next time…hugs and smiles, and wishes for a safe and happy weekend to you all…see you next week!

Oh and don’t worry you three…I didn’t forget you!!! *) *) *) and to one in particular…good luck with your ‘test’! lol MWUAH!

So sad about the frost. But your garden looks so lovely and clean; and mine's an autumn mess! Ah well, the rake will be coming out in a couple of weeks. Happy Fertilizer Friday, Tootsie; and thanks for hosting.

The plants are still looking green and good in your greenhouse. Don't know is it a good thing or a bad thing to have 4 seasons? There are lotza works in the garden for every season! Will fall and winter stop you from gardening? Can't wait to see what you will come out with in your blog! haha.
Happy weekends.

The thought of a killing frost is very disheartening to me... we may slip by this weekend... good news as there are so many annuals I'm not ready to give up yet and the brugs are loaded with flower buds... L

Your greenhoiuse is so gorgeous! Your gardens look so nice and green still.

I agree, where did summer go??? Our parents were so right that time goes by faster the older you get!

Wishing you and yours a great school year. All mine are out of school now..the last 2 college bound. Not as hectic but still busy! LOL

Goodness you do have a lot going on in your greenhouse ... fabulous Mandevilla! Fantastic colour ... so is the shade of your Gerbera. Everything looks so healthy and happy in the greenhouse ... the fern is magnificent!

Your plants in the garden are looking great, Glenda. Your mandevalia are really pretty. Mine died last winter and never came back. I miss them....Christine

Well, after hearing your confession about being a "fern killer." I thought, I can't kill my ferns down here in Florida, but I'll tell you what I'm known for, and it's really sad... an orchid killer! One of these days I'll get the hang of it, I hope.

I think we dodged that killer frost in Eastern Washington, but it was touch and go for awhile. I was sure summer was completely over and started clearing beds myself. It makes me sad to do it...every time! No greenhouse for me so far this year, so I am back to having greenhouse envy. Looking forward to hearing what you've been up to. You've definitely piqued my curiosity.

Hi, Tootsie. So sad to hear about what Mr Frost Man did to your garden. For us here in the tropics, it is Mr Rain Man that does all the damage. Luckily you have the greenhouse and the plants are really thriving. You fern is more green, lush and voluptious than mine over here in fern country. What magic fertilizer do you use to make your plants perform so well?

Love is in the air and my post this week is about hibiscus and grasshoppers. Please be forewarned that it is PG13, lol!

Hi tootsie, All your plants in the green house look so healthy. So sorry to hear about the early frost. And for the trash man he should just be lucky he has a job. Thanks for sharing your green house with us....Julian

Very beautiful, love the flower that survived all that abuse. That is encouraging. The poor plants around here seem to see some of that sort of thing from time to time.

Hello Tootsie, sorry to hear the frost hit you already. Your garden is so beautiful even after the frost. Your greenhouse is a haven, what a wonderful thing to have, I bet you spend a lot of time there.

Thank you for hosting!

I am not ready for Jack Frost to rear his ugly head here. It is so nice that you have a greenhouse to retreat to Tootsie, one day, just one day I too shall have one.

Since my garden died early this year I haven't had anything to join in with for a while. I was shocked to see that your beautiful gardens were done for the season! Everything in the greenhouse looks great!

Nutty Gnome said...

Gosh, you get frosts early! No chance of frost here yet as it's far too busy pouring with rain instead!

Is your greenhouse attached to the house? It looks lovely and cosy in there ....no wonder the plants love it!

As a new flower flaunting gardener to FF I accidentally posted to last week (yes I'm blond) but I see it is here too.
Your greenhouse sounds like a wonderful place to relax, experiment or hide from the rest of the world.
I have killed a number of ferns myself over the years and just don't bother any more.
Happy Autumn

We haven't had a frost yet. It is in the 60 at night still. Your grass is so pretty and green. I came home early today with a head cold. I hate it when I am sick. I want to get out soon and plant some bulbs. At one time I had 250 glads now I don't have but a few. Do you know any tips for glads? I like to have them, cause my mom had them in her garden. Kathy

Did I not leave a comment here, good grief! Your grass is so green despite the killing frost. Love, love seeing inside your greenhouse and those beautiful treasures you have growing in there. Hope this finds you and the kids doing well.

Ouch that spot by the shed that was so full 4 weeks ago. Aaahhhh the change of seasons. Everything in the greenhouse is such a pretty shade of green. Have a good weekend Tootsie.

Hey Tootsie, at least your's is yard waste.

I told hubby if our house was ever burnt to the ground it would be his fault and check out the trash guys.

Hubby is known for putting all his stinky fish and deer parts in the trash.....

I don't think I need to say more.

Your garden and greenhouse look lovely in spite of the frost! We've had cold weather but no frosts yet, I don't think. :) My senior mom did have to move her gardening projects further up to the house patio, though, to be safer. :)

What a gorgeous mandevilla! We tried one a couple of years ago. It was a bit tricky but didn't do too bad, though nothing as lovely as yours! We interwove it into a fence though, so when we moved, we couldn't take it with us. I asked my mom if she wanted a new one after we moved but she opted for some new plants. She'd definitely enjoy that photo of yours though! :)

Thanks again for another interesting Fertilize and Flaunt Your Flowers Friday! :)

Hi Tootsie. It is hard to believe that all of those beautiful flowers are gone. Your yard still looks wonderful though. Your greenhouse looks so cozy with all of the green plants. Too bad we live so far apart or I would come and set and chat with you for a spell over a cup of coffee or tea.
You and the little ones have a wonderful weekend and we will be looking forward to your show and tell projects.

Tootsie, Your greenhouse is fabulous. What a nice place to hang out and feel the sun's warmth and take in the beautiful flowers and foliage!

I always enjoy visiting your greenhouse. Everything looks so pretty. When I think of you I always picture you there in your greenhouse. Our garbage service won't pick up yard stuff at all. I usually put mine in a compost pile but then I don't have nearly as much as you do either.
Have a great week Glenda.

I really pity you people who have been diligently tending and working on your gardens, and of course it is no joke, then all of a sudden these labors will just be wasted because of winter. It is a consolation that the colors of autumn are also wonderful, that sadness from loss is pacified. But your garden is still beautiful, even if you said it is not. It always show the very hardworking trait of the owner.
