Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Those Flowers!!! April 8/11

Copy_of_001

Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!! Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together, snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!

If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?”
Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:
If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!
You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!
All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootsie Time, or the linky will be deleted.
So....I would like to invite each and every one of you to join in and share your photos...

IT'S FERTILIZER FRIDAY!!!!! It's time to Flaunt Your Flowers/Foliage!
I can't wait to see what you share!

Another week of spring has hit Alberta Canada, and the snow is slowly but surely melting away. The days are getting longer – and the sun is warmer…things are always better when the sun is shining!

It has been a busy week…full of decisions, drama and hustle and bustle in my house. I managed to squeeze a few hours in to get a little bit of work done in the greenhouse. I wish I had more time to just go and be in there…it is after all…my very special place!

If you have been following my Friday posts, you will certainly notice lots of changes in the greenhouse this week.

Shall we? Lets take a look:

001

This is the first official bloom of 2011 in my greenhouse crop! It is a shock wave pink petunia. I was thrilled to see it.

006

I always love to look at all of the different flower blooms up close…They never cease to amaze me.

007

This is the newest view from the front door. You will notice that things have changed quite a bit….I planted several of the containers that stand on the patio …

015

…and some of the hanging baskets that I will use around the gardens….

013

Everything is growing like crazy!!!

016

The Petunias were obviously happy to get into the hanging baskets!

018

There are a few more trays that need to get into pots…for friends and family…

019

The portulaca and snap dragons are popping out of the soil…

020

More Petunias and some marigolds…it’s quite green in here! ha-ha!

033

I organized…and cleaned up…

034

…Finished hanging my sun filter…(old sheer curtains)

035

…removed the winter floor tiles that insulate against the harsh winter temps…

037

…and turned the fans up to keep the air moving.

It just seems that there isn’t enough time anymore…I am a little behind this year…but that’s okay…spring is running late too!

My internet provider has been doing upgrades to their system this last week…and my internet has been sporadic at best…I think they are finished now…so I will be all over that linky list this evening…this week’s and last weeks…I missed a few of you…and want to get caught up!

So…without further delay, I am on my way…I just can’t wait to see what you guys share! Maybe I can get some ideas for container gardens!!! *)

I wish to thank you all for linking in, and visiting me here this past week! If you have not popped in on my other blogging adventure Growing 4 Seasons, to take a quick peek….head over…and while you are there…add yourself to the followers list! I just installed it the other day! Leave a comment and let us know you stopped in! There are all sorts of great ideas there…including a month by month posting of greenhouse tasks, and flower shares by Bren!

Hugs, smiles and wishes for a great weekend with friends and family.

Until next time….Happy Gardening!

*)*)*)…to my special three…and to one in particular…keep trying!!! It’s particularly entertaining from where I sit! hahaha!!! You know who you are!!!

Hi Tootsie, your previous post is contagious, gave me some heart pinch. Anyway, your petunia is so beautiful, and i am sure it is a great job doing all those work in your nursery, it is big. If only i am near you i can lend two hands, LOL. I remember your nursery last year also posted here!

So much work, but it seems to be your love. I am very fond of petunias, especially the purple ones that have fragrance near the end of the day. I plant then every year in pots, so I can smell them in the early evenings.

How I wish we lived closer together so I could come watch you weave your magic in the greenhouse.

I love how organized it is too.

Looks great Tootsie!!! So clean and oragized. I bet the smell is divine when you first walk in. Don't fall out of your chair, I have a flat of petunias I started from seed and actually planted out some lobelia that I started from seed....! I take it as a challenge when I cannot germinate seed, you know how I feel don't you?

What a pretty petunia Tootsie. Wow, your plants in the greenhouse are growing up a storm. I hope the rest of the snow melts soon and you have some warmer temps.

Wow Glenda! Your greenhouse is so tidy, how do you keep it looking so great? The petunias are looking fabulous. It wont be long before you will be enjoying them outside.

your greenhouse is definitely 'green'. I'm hoping to get outside this weekend to clean up the winter stuff in anticipation of spring and summer. So no pictures from me. I'll be back next week. Maybe I'll actually get some pictures of my cleaned up yard. Here's hoping

Hi,

Wow, you have so many seedlings growing in your greenhouse! I think I'd panic with so many... ha ha.

I'm sure your garden will look stunning in the coming months :)

Pamela said...

I had to move many of my seedlings back into my house, it was getting too cold in the greenhouse and the snow is back. Brrr. Maybe by next week we will have consistant sun. Winter is stubborn about leaving this year.

Hi Glenda, I didn't link in this week, nothing here but snowbanks yet. You've been so kind in the past letting me show a bunch of fake flowers, so I thought I'd better lay low until I have something real to flaunt. I was so awestruck by your green house! I spent the day putting our temporary hoop house up and FINALLY planted a few flats of flowers. You have petunias blooming, and I just first got mine planted...you're much farther ahead of me.

I was so touched by your last post about the greenhouse. How sad to think the lady passed away there and now it's just fallen to ruins. But at least you were able to salvage something and your post will keep her memory alive.

Your greenhouse is gorgeous! I love your little pink bloom too :) My tulips bloomed this week, so thrilling!

I am in awe of your greenhouse and your talent for growing flowers! A plant just looks at me and wilts....however; God bless me with a husband who loves to garden. Your story about visiting the old abandoned greenhouse that you recalled from childhood made the tears well in my eyes. You described it so well that I could even picture the little old lady who tended to the plants and feel her love and dedication. Thank you so much for your visit to my blog and for your generous lovely comments! Hugs, Phyllis
