Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers Aug. 19/11

Copy_of_001

Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!!

Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together , snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!

If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?” Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:

If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!

You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!

All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootise Time, or the linky will be deleted. I don’t mean to be harsh, but there have been a lot of people linking in and when the participants graciously click over to their blogs, there is no sign of Fertilizer Friday anywhere to be found. This is not fair to those who do follow the rules, therefore…well you know

My gardens seem to be bouncing back slowly but surely. The clean up after the hail storm was a huge job…but it is getting there! I am sad to say that there is no longer even one bird in my gardens. The storm killed a few of them, and it seems the rest have moved on…so it is very quiet here…I miss the little chatter from them.

DSCN1565

Many of the flowers in the bed in front of the hedge were direct seed…and they were flattened…they are coming along…the hedge has torn and tattered leaves all over it, but since it is almost time for fall…they will survive I am sure.

DSCN1567

This area is still doing quite well…I threw out a couple of pots that didn’t survive…but otherwise…it’s all good!

DSCN1568

I moved a few pots in this area…I like the bench in this position too.

DSCN1571

I am still amazed at how well everything in this bed is doing…it is just planted in the gravel! I would have preferred to be able to see the wagon wheels a bit more…but hey…I am NOT complaining!!!

DSCN1579

My tower pots are not doing so well…I am considering junking it…will see.

DSCN1585

The bed hit hardest was this one…my bed in front of the greenhouse door…I am sad that I had to cut down a lot of the taller flowers and plants, but…it seems to be filling back in, and standing back up. It was looking so pretty before that storm.

DSCN1587

I really like how the Snap Dragons grow up around the little bird house.

DSCN1599

Remember the bed along the side of the house that I did with direct seeding??? Well….the poppy’s are up…and blooming!!!

DSCN1602

…So are the Malva. They are taller than me! They are also LOADED with seed pods!!! Yay me!

DSCN1604

I am happy this bed filled in. I was a little worried…and very impatient to see this view!!!

DSCN1614

The Datura is going gangbusters!

DSCN1615

I just wish the blooms lasted more than one little day…at least there are several buds on it…so I get a few days of enjoyment!

DSCN1632

I don’t think I have shared the garage side bed this year…It didn’t fair well in the storm…but from a distance it looks all right I suppose…ha-ha

DSCN1658

I am a lucky girl that things are so resilient in my gardens…I get to wake up each day and look at this pretty scene…

DSCN1622

…and be thankful that each day there is something new to oooh and aaah over!

I leave you with hugs and smiles…wishes for a safe and happy weekend… a big thank you for linking in, and for stopping by for a quick peek. Your comments always make my day, and I look forward to getting around and seeing who is flaunting what this week!

I hope to be able to deliver a huge announcement to you all next week…just waiting on a few details…so I can share!!!

So? what are you waiting for? Get outside, feed, water, snap and post!

Until next time…Happy Gardening!

*)*)*) to my very loyal three…Remember….Don't neglect the ones who love you. Tomorrow is promised to no one. Treat people well. Remember what goes around comes around and sometimes even worse. It’s called Karma!!

Hey, Glenda! You could fool me that a hail storm hit your gardens. This time of year I sure wish I lived further north. Just trying to keep things alive down here takes a river of water. Your lawn looks so gorgeous. Your pictures are a feast of color!!!

Your garden looks fabulous and it's hard to tell that it was hit by a hailstorm not long ago. There's fantastic colour everywhere and the beds look great.

Tootsie, I am so sorry about the hail storm but things really look very good - at least in your photos. I know it created a lot of anxiety and extra work for you, and I'm sorry for that. I do so love your gardens; you (and they) are resilient!
Blessings, Beth

Wow Tootsie...your garden looks fantastic! I never would have guessed in a million years that you had a damaging hail storm! It is so colorful and tidy. Lovely Datura :)

Your gardens are so colourful and neat and tidy Glenda. Mine looked similar once upon a time until all the grass came out, now the contrast with the green is gone and it is the one thing I miss.

I can't believe how great your garden still looks! Most are crispy critters here and looking so sad. I ♥ your Datura, it's so gorgeous!

Hi Tootsie... I've been so busy pulling loose ends together for my surgery this next week that I entirely forgot about FF! I posted my blog about the new conifer garden... no flowers I'm afraid. Sorry! Your gardens look fantastic... my annuals are ok except I'm starting to notice problems with the zinnias from the humidity I expect... always something! Take care, Larry

Glenda, your garden bounced back like a Superball, wow, it looks phenomenal. I am so amazed. Hail is such a devastating thing and to see the piles and piles you had in your yard made me feel so sad. If you hadn't told me, I would never have suspected your garden was nearly buried with pellets of ice. Now it looks just as fresh as ever. You really do have a Gardener's Touch!

Your gardens looks really good considering the hail storm you went through. I've cut back lots due to heavy, heavy rain too. A lot of plants seems to be finishing up because of the early start as well.

Tootsie, your gardens look great for having gone through the storms. I sure know what you mean about the gardens getting whipped around. Amazing how well most of the plants recover.

It doesn't look like a storm hit your gardens at all. It's just gorgeous and I am envious of the views you have every morning!

Your garden is really beautiful now and the flowers are blooming well. I'm sorry something went wrong when I was trying to link in here so now I have a funny picture but the link is correct. I am posting hibiscus chimera today. Happy FF!

I am so glad you said what you did about people not having a post with anything to do with flowers! It's a waste of our time to go there and very disappointing! I hope it works.
I didn't join in this time..but your yard is just gorgeous!! Stunning! It shows such pride in your home and I love that!
