Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers March 2/12

Copy_of_001

Well hello there! It’s SO good to see you!

Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!! Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together, snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!
If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?”
Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:
If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!
You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!

All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootsie Time, or the linky will be deleted.

So....I would like to invite each and every one of you to join in and share your photos...

The kids and I spent ALL of last week literally flat out in bed with a nasty flu bug…but with us all seemingly on the mend…I finally got to be in the greenhouse this week!!! I knew the kids were feeling much better when bodily functions once again became cause of uncontrollable laughter…ha ha

I had sooo much to accomplish this week in my greenhouse. The entire operation was not even ready for me to THINK about seeding. I had nothing ready to go…so first I needed to take a minute to see what items I did and did not have in the greenhouse already that I absolutely needed. Once I found what was necessary, and took care of what was in dire straits…and started to get down to some serious business!

Its awful snowy outside this week. I wish mother nature would just send spring…and skip the rest of the winter torture. I have some big ideas for this yard…which is barren and dead. The shed you see in the photo, needs to find it’s home elsewhere …for starters…ha ha .

DSCN2614

Inside the greenhouse is nice and warm. Now that it is beginning to look a little more like Tootsie’s place…

DSCN2623

I could start planting! I managed to sow some Bacopa, Petunia, and Geranium seeds.

I did not purchase much for seed this year, as I was not sure I would even have a greenhouse to plant in…and I also had LOTS of seed left from last year. I sure hope they are still good!

DSCN2624

I have been peeking in on them every few hours to see if maybe…just maybe my seeds were viable, and things are sprouting!

DSCN2625

Today I planted 6 flats of Pansy’s. I can’t wait to see them sprout up and start blooming!!!

DSCN2626

It isn’t full yet…but will be soon enough! I have a LONG way to go before my greenhouse planting is done, but for this week, that is all I got done. I ran out of potting soil, and need to pick up more this weekend!

DSCN2627

Since I had no soil to play in, I decided to see if any of the perennials that I so lovingly potted up from my old yard managed to survive the winter in the pots I have them in. I didn’t get a chance to properly winter them, so it is a gamble that they are even alive anymore. I am fearful that the frost from the very very deep cold weather we had may have taken them to plant heaven.

I brought them into the greenhouse, to thaw and see if anything happens that will make me smile!

DSCN2629

I also started to put up some of the little odds and ends that makes my greenhouse mine. My antique seed spreader and a few little decorative touches are on display…at least for now. I am sure there will be some changes made to the set up in the greenhouse, but for now, getting it functional is more important than making it pretty.

DSCN2630

I hope all the seeds sprout, and I can fill this space up with something fantastic this spring!

That is it for my flaunt today! Thank you to you all for popping over to see what I am up to, and for linking in this week! I had such a great time snooping around in your gardens last week that I can’t hardly wait to see what you share this time!

Hugs , smiles and wishes for a safe and happy weekend with friends and family from Tootsie and her gang in Zone 2 Alberta Canada!!!

Until Next Time…Happy gardening!

*)*)*) to those special three that love to think of me…I often wonder what if.. what if I had made other choices...then I see my kids faces and know the ones I made were more than ok.. they were perfect, and I can change the future not the past. At times I almost want to thank you for helping become the strong person I am today…almost.

Tootsie, sorry you had that bug, my friend was so sick last week. I am lucky, so far.
Have only two snows on the Maine coast this year. March came in like a lion. We have so much snow now. Had to cancel my DR. Appt. I waited 2 months for it.
Glad I did, the roads are bad.

It's great to see your greenhouse and yourself back in action once more. I'm glad you and your children are on the mend now and given that nasty bug the slip. Looking forward to seeing what develops in that greenhouse.

Oh my that's deep snow! But come on Tootsie, everything will pass, i can already glimpse the thawed snow and growing seedlings. Meanwhile, come see my very warm and colorful post so i can at least keep you a little comfortable. haha. We are already at the start of our dry season officially, although in feelings it already started in January. Now the temperature outside is soaring at 31C.

Hi Tootsie... have you ever done a post on the specifics of your greenhouse... brand/type of materials/ heating etc? It looks like an excellent structure and I for one would enjoy knowing more about it! Larry

Flu is in full also in Sundsvall. But of course, I still passed me. Hope you and your family are doing well today. Every year, it is equally exciting to see what germinates. Some things over boxes positive and the other ... I wish you a wonderful weekend! Zinnias

Hi Tootsie, Looks like you have a blank slate to create, create, create! Out of adversity comes opportunity.
I sincerely wish you all the best and hope and pray that you and your family will truly enjoy your new home and gardens.
You do have a fantastic greenhouse! I am amazed at all of the things you plant from seed, that most of us purchase at the garden store.

Glad you are feeling better. The greenhouse is looking like Tootsie's place and will be filling up real quick like. Hope your frozen babies there are OK. Looks like you have a lot of room in the back yard for gardens. Is your space larger than your other place.
