Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers March 9/12

Copy_of_001

Well hello there! It’s SO good to see you!

Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!! Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together, snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!
If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?”
Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:
If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!
You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!
All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootsie Time, or the linky will be deleted.

So....I would like to invite each and every one of you to join in and share your photos...

It was a good week in my world this week. I did a little more work on my house renovations…(watch for that post next week) and a lot more progress was made in the greenhouse!

I planted and planted and planted…and even saw some teensy little signs that spring is coming!

Take a look:

DSCN2669

Remember the pots I had all the perennials in? Yep…the ones that I didn’t think would have survived the winter?? Well…they did!!! This is a silver mound!!! Look at all the growth!!! Spring is definitely come to Tootsie’s Greenhouse!!!

DSCN2686

Another sign of spring…one of the lilies is popping up!!!

DSCN2670

I planted some Geraniums about two weeks ago now…they are popping up!!!

DSCN2683

If you look really hard…you will see a petunia in this photo…a very teensy baby petunia!!! Yay!!!

DSCN2695

On this wall I have officially got 15 Geraniums…7 Petunias and about 20 Bacopa that are up!!! I am so excited…soon the greenhouse will be filled with GREEN!!!

DSCN2696

Nothing up over on this wall yet…next week…I hope!!!

DSCN2697

I leave you with a shot of the view I get as I walk through the door to come into the greenhouse…can you imagine how good it smells in there already??? It smells like fresh soil…and the scent of flowers is just a few weeks away!!!

SPRING IS DEFINITELY ON ITS WAY!!!!! Now if it would just quit snowing it would be a bit easier to believe it!!! ha ha

Thanks to everyone who links in this week…and to those who pop over for a quick visit!!! Please don’t forget to leave me a comment! I will be around to see what you have to dazzle us with this week…and looking forward to every post!

Hugs , smiles and wishes for a safe and happy weekend with friends and family from Tootsie and her gang in Zone 2 Alberta Canada!!!

Until Next Time…Happy gardening!

*)*)*) to my three winks: Just a quick thought: I've made mistakes in my life. I've let people take advantage of me, and I have accepted way less than I deserve. But, I've learned from my bad choices, and even though there are some things I can never get back and people who will never be sorry, I'll know better next time and I won't ever again settle for anything less than I deserve.

Wow, I am in greenhouse envy! I did not do a 'growing' post this week or I would join the party. Maybe tomorrow I can post on what I did in the greenhouse today.
Still drooling over yours though!

The "Tootsie" is up and alive again, because i have long equated this name to that fully-filled greenhouse with lots of colors, blooming profusely. That sight is still embedded in my consciousness. So with this beginning, i can already clearly visualize it. When are you posting the finished kitchen photos? haha!

The miracle of seeds sprouting never ceases to excite. It's new all over again every spring. Those first little sprouts from perennials are just as exciting, especially the ones you can't believe 'made it.' I feel like a mother hen, hovering over teensy tomato, pepper and eggplant sprouts.

What incredible precultures you have. Seeing their perennials övelevt is a relief. Is there anything more fun to see it grow. Especially when the snow is still swirling runt.Det snowed in Sundsvall, Sweden. yesterday. March still offers spring. With the days getting longer and that the days are dripping. I wish you a wonderful weekend! Zinnia

Spring is definitely arriving in your greenhouse. I'm sharing some winter sowing this week, first time trying it, so hoping for success.

I discovered that my comment was gone. Maybe I did something wrong? What an awful lot you sow. A lot of work but a lot of fun while doing it. In the winter of perennner showing signs of life, it is such a relief. I wish you a wonderful weekend! Zinnia

Tootsie... I can't imagine how difficult it must be to start over... I know you'll do a marvelous job!

You asked about the stone walls... here's my technique... it's pretty simple... I didn't even put a base under them as they are three feet wide. I lay out the outside dimensions with my largest stones, fill the space between with small stones, gravel, broken bricks or whatever... nice and tight so nothing gets to move in any direction and all becomes basically interlocked... once I'm up to the height of the first layer or even a bit more, I add another layer of outside stones being careful not to have any straight seams between layers... one stone over two and the like is what is needed for strength... I continue in this manner and when I'm approaching the height I want, I use some larger stones for the top layer of the inner portions to give the impression of the entire wall being created from larger stones... does any of this make any sense? Since these walls are used for seating quite often, I didn't go all that high and so didn't have to concern myself with leaning back each layer a bit. Good luck... of course flatter stones are easier to work with but I often combine the different shapes our native field stones come in... including the 'round heads' Take care, Larry
