Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers July 27/12

Copy_of_001

HAPPY FRIDAY AGAIN!!!! I am SO glad to see you!
Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!! Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together, snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!
If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?”
Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:
If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing! You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly! All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootsie Time, or the linky will be deleted.
So....I would like to invite each and every one of you to join in and share your photos...

I have been one dirty little Tootsie this week. Weeding and primping and pruning my gardens was a big big job. I haven’t managed to get much further than the weeding and a few small changes to things, as it was a huge undertaking all in itself.

Today I want to share the current state of my yard.

Lets start in the back this time.

DSCN4378

I am happy with the grass that I seeded for the most part…a few weeds…but they will choke out eventually.

DSCN4382

I brought home my rocking chair that I use out in my gardens. I love sitting in it and looking at my flowers when I get a chance. I still need to finish the little brick area at the base of the shed…one day…I will.

DSCN4384

My big pots are doing great on the back steps.

DSCN4387

My newest flower bed is growing along nicely…I still need to put something up to hide the wood pile in the next yard over…but that too will wait. It sure is a challenge to take a photo of this bed without all the background overwhelming it. ha ha

DSCN4388

I still need to fix the grass on the back yard areas…the gas line trench is slowly filling in…but could use some back fill and grass seed…the flowers are doing ok…sure does look cheerful!

DSCN4390

I know it is just the first year for this yard to be loved Tootsie style…but it feels like it is going so slowly! It will eventually get up to snuff…the neighbors all are impressed with the changes I have made.

DSCN4392

I love how the blue Lobelia pops!

DSCN4402

The bed beside the back steps is overflowing! It is just so full and colorful…I love looking at it.

DSCN4404

The lavatera and malva are growing up to cover all the vents and meter and technical ugly that is on this part of the house. I am happy with how this bed caught on…including…

DSCN4403

I even got a surprise guest! The birds must have knocked a sunflower out of the feeder…and it sprouted! I forgot to seed sunflowers this year…so I am very happy to have this one!

DSCN4407

My front island bed…very color filled with all the petunias!

It was hard to take photos of the front today as there is contractors equipment all over the lawn. They are installing new eaves…

DSCN4408

This has to be the teensiest hedge ever…I trimmed it down to all the same height…and filled in some spots that were needing another plant. It is starting to look more like a hedge every day…just a little shorter than most …ha ha

DSCN4377

I made a few changes to the front bed under the window this week. It is a little emptier than I would like it to be…but I think I made it look ok.

DSCN4420

I had a lady drop off this old chair a few months ago…and she never came back to get it. SO…I used it!

DSCN4410

That is all I have to share for today! I am happy that I have at least a few blooms to flaunt with you all this week. I am leaving again for the second half of my trip…so I won’t be around too much this week again. I do hope you all are having a great summer!

What are you waiting for??? Get flaunting!

I wish all of you hugs and smiles, and safe and happy weekend plans! Thank you all so much for dropping in today, and to those that faithfully link in to this party…and who are patient while waiting for me to finally visit you…THANK YOU!

Until Next Time….Happy Gardening!

Oh Tootsie, your labors are all getting paid off, now it looks what i usually call very Tootsie-ish! Very beautiful, colorful, and lively. Now it can already replace the picture i had in mind from you old place. I just remember here the very long straight cemented walk, i want to see what you did about it as it feels so hard, unwelcoming!

Glenda,

I am amazed at what you have done in this short period of time. The grass looks wonderful, so green and your beds are beautiful. I am sure that all of your neighbors are in shock!

Well you might think it's all going fairly slowly, but I think you've done a great job in a very short time. There's lots of fabulous colour all around your house now. I love the area beside the back steps and around the greenhouse. The hedge will get there in time, and the front beds will only get better and better.

Oh my gosh friend it looks like you have lived here for years!!! Just look at your place! It is beautiful!! It has been so hot and dry that things are just barely hanging on- hence my not post to share! It would be very depressing and not inspiring at all if I showed you around my gardens right now! I'll just have to come and enjoy yours!

Your transformation is amazing!! You have accomplished so much in so little time! Your gardens are going strong. Your greenhouse looks so cute with the basket hanging.
I'm finding myself detaching from my gardens and home. So scared I won't get to stay here. Hardest part is 3/4 of my gardens came from plants mom and dad started for me from theirs. Guess I need to be not so sentimental.

So happy for you and the way your gardens and new neighbors feel about them ♥

Tootsie,
Thanks so much for hosting!
I think that for the first year at this house, your yard looks amazing! I am quite sure that your neighbors think so too!

I have a question for you if you have some time to answer it..
My petunias , all of a sudden have no blooms on them. I have dead headed them and they are looking a bit leggy. Should I cut them back a bit?

Hugs,
Deb
