OOPS! I Did It Again!

So....I was in the garden center of Wal Mart and ran across these Iris's....on sale DIRT cheap....
I hate this area of my yard...it is just soooo boring....and I once had a great back walk made from broken sidewalk pavers...moss...and Iris's....
So? Do you see where this is going?
Oops! I did it again...I played in the dirt....I ripped out the sod....Oh baby baby...lol
Busy did a worm inspection...gross...
Then she inspected the planted Iris's...
Then I added some Lobelia between them. This is bed #17 in this garden. I blame it on Kathy...she got me thinking of them with her post about all the Iris's she got the other day...
This is my favorite..it is a bearded one I think...Funny...when I looked at this one I laughed out loud...My Mom's name is Iris. She is the most "lady-like" woman I know...I was picturing her as a "bearded" Iris....lol...I will now forever think of her when I water this bed...ha ha
There are 6 different types in this bed. The ones in the line that appear to be gray-ish or lighter leaved....are variegated. They will bloom a beautiful shade of lavender.
I would have loved to bring it all along the sidewalk right to the front yard, but...the property line is on an angle like a pie....and I worry that we might not have good neighbors one day in the future and that this would be an issue...there is also the issue of the "biker gang" that lives in my house...they have already fallen, driven and walked in the dirt! (and yes...I did get mad-threatened to send them to live with their Aunty Ogre ...hi sissy!)
I would like to say how bad I feel for not being a good commenter....I have been super busy, and a little distracted by my garden lately....It is supposed to be cold in the next few days, so I am sure I will find some time to play in blog land!
Can you believe we have had a frost warning every night for the last week? It is JUNE for crying out loud!

Tootsie, nice job on the iris bed. Irises are new to my garden
(2 yrs.) and I love that they multiply really fast and most have a sweet fragrance. The trick is not to plant them too deeply, the top of the rhizomes love to bake in the sun. We've had rain last few days and cool temps..at least I don't have to water..HA!

So, my Irises are huge! The foliage that is.......no blooms! I can see you will be expanding that bed one day. It looks great, I actually thought the lush green grass was very nice too....Love, love the little ones in the photos!

Beautiful. I noticed the grass was so green....just yesterday it was brown. How did you do that?? HA!! I love iris. I have never seen the coral color nor a variegated one. Must go to Wal-Mart and see what I can find.

I love the name Lois for your iris. They are just the perfect plant for an edging...they stay green!
Talk about weather...we went from a balmy 78-84 to a call for 96+ this week. Summer's coming to Texas!

They're beautiful! I can't get over how rich and dark the soil is there!! In the desert, it's almost white. It takes a lot of gypsum just to soften the ground.

The new flower bed looks great. It is hard for me to resist the great plant sales this time of year too. My husband is even worse than me. I do love my flower garden! :-) Have a great day playing in the dirt!

Oh Tootsie you have no idea how much you motivate me! I just get exited when you take on a new project, it is seriously blog candy!! Did you say bed #17!!!

Many mornings I wake up extra early to do some transpanting or just 'piddle' (Shelia' word). Then the time goes and I dont want to go to work I just want to play in my garden!

I love your Iris's and I am going to look for some as well, I always admire them, they are really pretty anything I should know about them?

Hey I need your extra sod! And your expertise with my garden that is all ready to plant! I need it blooming by July! See my blog from 2 days ago! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! (Remember I live in the land of Texas...schorching sun and high humidity) Thanks!
