Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers Dec18/09

Welcome to Fertilizer Friday!!! Today is the day we all get together and flaunt our flowers!
Fertilizer Friday is the day when gardeners from all over the world join in and share the blooms of their labors!
If you are new to this party...WELCOME!!! If you are a regular...WELCOME BACK! Anyone can post plants of any kind...you are all welcome...the more the merrier!
Now...if you are not familiar with the winter rules here...you will be...since I have ZERO to share...my gardens are bare...I (and other gardeners in similar climates) are sharing our favorite photos from months, gardens, years gone by, or the current indoor gardens and houseplants that they have. Those who have real live beauty to share are doing just that!
So? What are we waiting for? Feed your flowers/ houseplants...gardens...snap some photos, link in and Flaunt with me!
This will be the last Fertilizer Friday of 2009. There will be no Dec 25th or Jan 1 postings...have a great holiday!!!
Today I am sharing a few of the plants that are growing in the greenhouse. I am happy to report that although it has been a difficult month in there...things are going well. We had a spider mite attack...an aphid attack, and a few days and nights where it was 40 degrees below freezing. Bugs-dead (for now) (many thanks to Sigrun for the tips)...temps...warming up (for now)
The first photo here is the banana plant that I started from seed this summer. This was the scene in Oct of this year...shortly after I took this photo...I lost all but one leaf to spider mites....well, I'm happy to say that I have won that war...take a look at it now!!!
Yep...it gets a new leaf every other day now...and it is very big...I need almost a whole room for this puppy now...
It kinda looks a little like a jungle in there right now...and it is a HUGE mess...so no full room photos for you this week! lol
It is about 6 feet tall, and almost as wide...
I have NO idea how I will accommodate this plant in my house when planting season hits me...lol But...rest assured....I WILL find a way!
My Mandevilla is doing well...it got an attack of the Aphid variety, but I managed to remedy that really fast too! It is blooming again...and has all kinds of little vines sprouting up and out and all over the place.
The Rose bush...got spider mites...yea...this was not a good year for bugs in the greenhouse...but I think I have that under control too....it is budding out again...
My ficus elastica is growing like a weed...two years ago that was only 8 inches tall! It must have grown a foot in the last couple months. This is the purple Wandering Jew (oh how I hate that common name!) that we started from clippings a few weeks ago...seems as happy as a clam!
That is it for my flaunting this week....I can't wait to see what you share with us! What are you waiting for...flaunt yours and tour the rest!
This will be the last Fertilizer Friday of 2009. There will be no Dec 25th or Jan 1 postings...have a great holiday!!!
