Okay Kids…! It’s Friday AGAIN. Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!! Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together , snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!
If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?” Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:
If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!
You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!
All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and a link to Tootise Time, or the linky will be deleted. I don’t mean to be harsh, but there have been a lot of people linking in and when the participants graciously click over to their blogs, there is no sign of Fertilizer Friday anywhere to be found. This is not fair to those who do follow the rules, therefore…well you know!
So? what are you waiting for? Get outside, feed, water, snap and post!
Before I begin with my flaunt, I would like to take the time to wish all those who are celebrating, a very Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday with friends and family! As you may remember, here in Canada we celebrated this holiday last month…so many happy moments to you all!
Today I am flaunting some photos of things that I grew in the greenhouse in 2009. It has been seriously cold here, so there isn’t much to flaunt – even in the greenhouse. We were so cold, in In fact that two days in a row Alberta was said to be the second coldest place in the world! Ya…well it sounds more exciting than it is…trust me…really…that is not one of the things anyone would like to be known for! It was no fun! I am happy to say that today the temperatures managed to warm up quite substantially, and it is almost WARM outside in comparison! ha-ha!
When I look at the photos of the flowers I started from seed that year, the smells and the feeling of calm that the greenhouse brings make me long for spring! I thought I’d share a few of the plants that give my greenhouse a little scent in the cold months of the year! All of them together combine their distinct smells to make my greenhouse just glorious to be inside when it is cold and snow covered outside…the smell is optimistic of warmer days ahead…
I loved these Petunias.
This color was a good one that year too. Petunias have their own scent…can’t say it is a pretty one…but it does say spring and summer!!!
Bacopa…first time I’d ever tried it from seed…it did quite well and has become a standard on the order form for my spring crops! No smell…just pretty!
Only another month until I order the seed for the 2011 season! I love the smell of Geranium leaves…they smell like spring to me!
I plant the Geraniums and a few other seeds in the early days of January. I am really looking forward to it this year.
The smell of the Verbena is just wonderful! I think I should order some of these again too.
…and lets not forget to mention…the old faithful…Marigold! They always add that distinct scent to the greenhouse!
Well…that’s it for me! I have been a busy girl…work, kids, hockey, a road trip or two…school, you name it…I have had a heck of a time getting comments to publish on other’s blogs. I was around all over to see everyone that linked in last week…but could not get the link to leave a comment work on more than a couple! I was there!!! I SWEAR!!! Hope things go better this week!
Until next time!….hugs and smiles to all of you…big thank you’s to those who faithfully link in each and every week…and again…HAPPY THANKSGIVING to those who are celebrating this weekend!
I would also like to send a HUGE HUG to my oldest daughter ‘Georgie’…she is turning 10 years old tomorrow!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL! It seems like just yesterday that she was a tiny little thing, just learning how to walk…and here she is 10 years old! I got her a kitten from the local animal shelter for her birthday…she calls the female Ginger…we also adopted a second cat to keep her company when we are not home…he is a male, and his name is named Marty! LOVE YA! XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX
Oh…and don’t worry you special three…I haven’t forgotten you…
*) *) *) Mwuah! I love it when I see you have been missing me...and pop in for a visit!

I envy you your green house where you can feel and smell summer even with the snow piled up around the doors. Have a great weekend.
Your flowers are so lovely today, and I was wondering where are you because as I know it is winter time in Canada. Now I know but it is good to see spring again here.
Starting flowers from seeds are too much fun. I am looking forward to picking some new ones out this year.
I am so glad to be able to join FF today. I like the food posts on Friday so it really bums me out because I couldn't always join your meme. But I think I have a new system now, and we will see if this will help my schedule a bit more to be available for FF.
Hope you are well and had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. I did. Smiles.
Tootsie, those beautiful flowers really make me miss the warmer weather and the garden.

Oh Tootsie I do hope you post how to's again concerning planting paticular seed. I am pretty good at getting seeds to germinate although I have not been able to get petunias or lobelia to germinate...help!
Happy Birthday to your daughter! And thank you for hosting Fertilizer Friday. I have added my link - a fertilizer post with a little different twist.
Blessings,
andrea
We are heading into summer here as your weather cools. Thanks for hosting such a great meme. I hope I can join in more often. I love seeing what everyone is doing in their gardens.
This is a busy time of year. Just fertilized my new sun room that is almost a green house. Happy Birthday to your little daughter.
A pet is such a lovely gift.
yvonne stay warm..
It must be an absolute joy to wander around your greenhouse enjoying the smells and sights during a bleak winter. So many plants ... you do work hard growing these beauties from seed. Loved the Bacopa and Verbena!
Lovely flowers Tootsie. You are amazing. I haven't been around in a while and have missed visiting your site. I think now I have "fixed" my blog....so I can visit again soon.
Hope you had a good Thanksgiving....although I don't think Canadian celebrate it...do you?
Late happy b'day.
You'll be having a yard full before you know it.
Beautiful Tootsie, your flowers are gorgeous... and in this chilled month looking at them is a treat...
Can you please spare a little bit of your time for my new post, its something different I hope you enjoyed
