Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers Oct.12/12

Copy_of_001

GET READY!!!! IT IS FRIDAY!!! FRIDAY IS FLAUNTING DAY!!! I am so glad you stopped by!
Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!! Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together, snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!
If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?”
Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:
If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing! You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly! All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootsie Time, or the linky will be deleted.
So....I would like to invite each and every one of you to join in and share your photos...
This week I have nothing nice to say about my garden…nothing.  I suppose I could be looking at the future plans for it…but I have not one nice thing to say about the current view I have in my yard…
Why???   Well… funny you should ask…This is WHY:
DSCN5629
It’s all gone. Sad smile
DSCN5630
Just a few perennials standing alone and sad.
DSCN5634
It is sure an empty looking garden!
DSCN5636
Not such a pretty sight anymore!
DSCN5637
Seems so bland without all the colors of spring and summer cheering it up.
DSCN5638
We got some COLD weather in this area this week.  SNOW fell…and lucky for us it didn’t stay.  Many parts of Alberta got LOTS of snow…and it stayed!
DSCN5639
I am glad I got the winter floor into the greenhouse when I did…
DSCN5640
The heat is officially turned on in there and it is LOADED with tropicals and a few other things that I am wintering for myself, Grammie, and a girlfriend.
DSCN5642
In the back yard, I left a couple of things up against the house.  I wanted to get the seed off of them before I pull them.
DSCN5643
The Malvas are LOADED with seeds.
I suppose if I had to say one nice thing about my garden this week…
DSCN5628
…I would have to say  at least my grass is still super green!
It is supposed to warm up again for next week…a little bit.  I want to move a few of my garden junk/ornaments into shelter for the winter so that they last longer for me.   If it is warm enough and I feel up to it, that is my plan!
Winter season is now officially started in Tootsie’s Gardens…I guess it is back to the nostalgic looks into the photo files for me from now on!  (sniff sniff…do you feel sorry for me yet?)
Okay kids…that is all for me for this week…now it is your turn.,,,
What are you waiting for??? Get flaunting!
I wish all of you hugs and smiles, and safe and happy weekend plans! Thank you all so much for dropping in today, and to those that faithfully link in to this party…and who are patient while waiting for me to finally visit you…THANK YOU!
Until Next Time... Happy Gardening!

Glenda,
My annuals are still blooming but they are calling for a "Killer Frost" as the weather man on the TV said on Saturday with temps. as low as 29 degrees!! So I am sure that will be the end of the annuals. I am going to cover my mums though in the front of the house.
I love your new blog look. I recently went to all X Large pics and a larger font so it is easier to read.

Thanks so much for hosting all the time!!
Your home looked breath taking this summer...

Hugs,
Debbie

Loving the new look of the blog...thing are slowing down here too and we are due for our first freeze Friday night...the freeze will happen ahead of any frosts which is weird...

Hi Glenda, You worked miracles with your property this year; it really looked great. Sorry it came to an end so soon. We have had freezing temps and the annuals are gone, but I have quite a few shrubs, trees, and perennials...and a very few annuals that I covered to save a little while longer.

Sad when all the pretty flowers have gone for the season isn't it? This is why I am glad we live in a country valley village with woods a river and nature all around us , gives me other things to photograph as most of my flowers are also gone ! Some are still hanging in there even though it has been windy and cold . This year I am leaving them in till the spring . My mum would do this and come the next spring and summer all she had to do was get rid of the dead as new ones grew ! Have a good day !

You made your new home look fantastic this year with all the work you did. Savour your photos from summer and think what you can do next year!
Here you are showing off your green grass and I'm extolling the virtues of having none.

Glenda,

Say it isn't so. At least it is pretty inside your greenhouse. A greenhouse is the one thing I don't have. I have harvested the last of my tomatoes. And I have been busy this week transforming a bed from a weed patch to one that can have raised veggie beds next year....and all before I go on vacation tomorrow. Rain, rain, rain will be the fate of our area all next week, making that task more difficult. Hope that you have a great weekend, without snow.

I enjoy visiting your garden this week and joining FF! I bet many gardeners are busy with harvesting since it is autumn now. I am also harvesting, and it is sunflower seeds this time.
