A Flaunt...Of Sorts...

Hey guys!   I figured it's about darned time that I get back to blogging on a regular basis...so here I am attempting to get that started!

I've had a few emails come in , asking  me to fire back up with the Friday flaunt...but for the life of me I can't remember how to use my linky tool!!!   So...while I try to teach myself again how to do that...I thought I'd share a few of the flowers that are blooming in my yard right now.

It's been unbearably hot outside here in my area...yes I know,  Alberta isn't exactly a HOT spot...but for us, it absolutely feels like it might be turning into one!

I am not normally affected by warm temps.   I usually like them...except that this year...MENOPAUSE has taken over my body and not I am HOT all the time!   For the first time in almost 12 years, I am wearing shorts and tank tops OUTSIDE with no sweater on!   Let me tell you!   I am so glad that the Cowboy and I did a diet a few weeks back and each lost about 20 pounds!   (ya...we could probably stand to each lose 20 or so more, but it's a start!)

We decided to stop the diet, as it is summer, and there is potato salad, and the occasional beer to be had on hot days...and neither of those are weight loss friendly.

ANYWAY...back to the flowers.

Begonias...

Did you know that if you pull a petal off these and eat it...it tastes a bit like rhubarb?   I love adding them to salads...and Busy (remember her?   of course you do) loves to sneak a taste every time she goes outside...

Geranium...I actually only have two Geraniums this year.  Odd compared to the years where I had 200 or more...lol

Iris's...always a favorite spring flower...I have loads of them in this yard.  I have more perennials in this yard than I have ever had in my lifetime.   I am grateful for their easy care.   After last summer's injury to my shoulder (that is a whole other post) I am still struggling to heal.   A gardener with a gimp shoulder isn't much use!

Lilies...the only thing I have more of than lillies ...is weeds!   They are definitely plentiful in this yard...I don't like to kill pretty things, so I tolerate the copious amounts of lillies...lol  I transplanted, and gave away, and forced friends to take lillies and I still have so many!

As I wait for my grass to FINALLY take off and fill in...I  enjoy the Shasta Daisies...

SO delicate and pretty!

I absolutely LOVE Alyssum...such a pretty dainty little flower with so much scent!

Strawberries...need I say more?  YUM!

....and More Lilies...HAHAHA

I can't wait for my Lipstick vine to open!!!

I have several Peonies...the white is open...and the soft pink is just about there...

I always wish they would bloom over and over again...but sadly it's just once a year

I think I will end my show with the best of all.   Lilac...ABSOLUTELY the perfect flowers.   Such pretty scent, and delicate blossoms...I only wish they would last longer.

Well...That's it for me for a few days...I hope you all are enjoying some time outside enjoying all the beautiful things Mother Nature has to offer!

I think I will head outside to do some necessary watering and drop a bit of fertilizer on my plants...the heat will help kick them into gear!

 Until Next Time... Happy Gardening!
