Paid in FULL!! (outdoor Wednesday)

Today I am participating in my first Outdoor Wednesday. It is graciously hosted by Susan at A Southern Daydreamer. Stop in and see who else is playing along!
The baby Robins were so tiny just a short while ago...I immediately became a paparazzi when they made their nest on top of the birdhouse on the back of the garage. Momma Robin would almost roll her eyes when I'd climb into the tree house to snap the growing babies...
...There are 4 babies in this nest!
Did I mention they are starving???
Well...it didn't take as long as I had hoped...Look how big they got!!!
The next morning I arrived for my daily photo shoot...and all I saw was Daddy Robin...keeping his watchful eye on ...
The babies that had left the nest!!! WHAT?!?!?!? I was so worried! They could not fly well at all...so I spent a lot of time making sure they were safe from my dog (who thinks she's a cat) , the neighborhood strays, and my kids! All 4 of them hung around for a day or so...and then they were gone!
I was ticked off!!! They didn't even say goodbye! BUT...they did pay their rent...in full....they left me that nest! I can't wait to get up there and get my grubby little mitts on it! I have to wait...the sparrows are busily feeding their nest full of babies in the house just inches away from it...I also want to clean out the mess that wren made in the house underneath the nest...Little hag! lol
So...as I felt so sorry for my Tootsie self...I noticed something else to snap photos of!
Well Hello There Mister Finch!!! Where are you nesting???
Seriously!!!???
They sure are! Last year they built a nest on the front of the post covered in vines...this year they are on the side!
They are seriously offended when I water...but they better get used to it...I'm not going anywhere!
I just can hardly wait...I am also trying to use a little more self control in the paparazzi department...I don't want them to leave yet!
Oh! I can't wait for babies!
I also have spotted a hummingbird...and am going to go and get a feeder to entice more to stop in...last year I had 4 of them...in the trumpet vine and the petunias...I just wish I was able to snap a good photo of them!
Now...for those who have inquired to me about Bumble Bee...(the kitten) He went to the vet on Monday. Had a check up...we found out he had bad ear mites (treated) a respiratory virus (that could have been fatal had he not come to us) and was seriously mal nourished. He weighs less than 1/2 a pound...is about 6 weeks (if that old) and is already seriously spoiled. He insists on being held today...and had to have 3 showers...he pooped his little pants a couple of times...as he is not used to the food yet...and doesn't know how to clean himself yet...he is surprisingly good in the sink....but he is not sporting the most attractive "nekked" (wet) yet...he is tooooo skinny! He spent the day shopping for toys, and sleeping on who ever (myself or Bob) who was not walking!
yea...he's the boss around here already! My kids are at my mother in law's house until Sunday...so I'm on duty to play ALL day long! Maybe I'll have to call lilsista....she has 5 playmates for Bumblebee...and they work for free!
I will have the post for Fertilizer Friday/Flaunt Your Flowers up late on Thursday afternoon ...so I do invite you all to click the mister linky to join in and share your lovely blooms with us!

You're doing some serious climbing around for those pictures.....you got some neat shots. I'm surprised momma robin let you so close.
Glad the kitten is going to be okay....

Beautiful photos of the baby robins. We have had 2 nests on our back lights and now 1 on our front light this year ... as well as numerous nests in different trees. They certainly do leave the nest quickly.

Great pictures Toots~ I love birds. :) I'm so glad Bumble Bee is in your family now and I know he will be well loved & cared for. When it comes to animals I'm the worst apt. manager ever. I feed a cat that was left behind by former residents. Every morning she is sitting there waiting for me to arrive. :) That's how I inherited Gracie last year ( the Mister said NO MORE CATS~ YIKES! ) I think she is pregnant so then I'll have to give them away and say " shhhh don't tell the manager~ here is your move in gift a free kitten....lol. "

Hugs to you~ tell Bob I said hellooooooo!

Love you Toots!!!

Happy Outdoor Wednesday
what a wonderful post....my whole family are bird watchers, bird feederes, and bird lovers...every year either on my front porch or the door wreath purple finches build nests.
I had to chuckle about you sneaking around the yard to obtain baby pictures....and yes, you fall in love and worry about these babies and then they are just gone....no good-byes...no forwarding addresses
I really enjoyed your lovely post

Great pictures Tootsie. Glad little BB is going to be okay. When I've raised tiny kittens I've used Science Diet A/D and Nutracal. The A/D is a very soft can food for sick dogs/cats and small puppies/kittens. The Nutracal is in a tube and you blob some on your finger or they some of mine would lick it straight from the tube. It's high in calories and my vet recommended it.

More BB pictures soon, please.

Such a funny post! I love how the birds are all over your property. What fun! It's amazing where they choose to build their nests sometimes - places I wouldn't choose if I were a bird. Glad to hear the kitty is doing better. You are taking great care of him. -Jackie

Oh Tootsie! What beautiful gardens you have. Oh my gosh, I can't have a lot here in Phoenix. The water alone will eat you out of house and home. I love the birds. I have been watching a family of Hummingbirds, but I don't get the Robins or finches here in phoenix. I think it is to hot here for them. Such a beautiful post. Just beautiful. I have signed up to follow you blog. Please stop by and say hi, and I would love for you to follow my blog as well. Country Hugs, Sherry

You better be careful!! Love bird nests too. I have collected a Easter Bluebird nest with one egg left in it and a House Wren nest with one egg left in it this summer. Now what to do with them? Ideas? You got some great photos here!

All of your tiny birdie babies are so cute. I love to see them in their nests, just precious. We get a lot of birds, but only one nest this year. We do have a lot of humming birds though and I love to watch them. So cute. Hugs, Marty

I just love finding birds and nest in our trees. I do have a problem with then building nest underneath the covered porch and they poop everywhere down on the patio and furniture. I was told to get some rid bird and it's like caulking and they will not nest there. But I am afraid that it will hurt the bird. I can't win. I have 6 nest under there now. I missed you too girlfriend.

Hi Tootsie!! Oh my goodness, I LOVE your photos of the birds and their nests! Being a motherly sort myself, I understand completely regarding your sense of loss... they grow so quickly! We have a friend who has a Swallows' nest on a post right next to her front door. She keeps the nest up after they leave and they have returned to the SAME nest for SEVEN years to raise their babies. Actually...we're not quite sure if they are the same birds or their offspring...but they sure feel safe and at home there. She deems it an honor and a compliment that they've chosen her house for raising their babies from year to year. It's my theory that she is a special person -- I think they can sense that. It's my guess that your birdies can sense the same thing about you. Thanks so much for all your great posts, I really enjoy them so much.
Warmly,
Traceyxo

Tootsie, I loved all of your bird shots, and I remember seeing those wonderful baby robins and thinking how sweet they all were. So glad they got off safely and that you have new visitors.

And that kitty! Oh, he's so blessed to have wandered into your life. Thank goodness you found his little sweet self. Hope he gets better soon and is up to all sorts of kitten fun!

XO,

Sheila :-)

Nesting birds are the best (and cheapest!) entertainment I know of. To get to watch the babies grow and then leave the nest is something! We have a pair of cardinals that come back to the same cedar tree and nest every year. They fluff it up a little and settle right in. I would love to find a hummingbird nest. Your finch doesn't look real it is so beautiful!
Speaking of chicks...you did get your necklace? I didn't dream that, right?

The garden in your header pic is breath-taking!

It's pretty exciting when birds chose our yards to nest in. I'd be a paparazzi too! They almost always use birdhouses too so I only see them going in and out. Your little kitty sounds like one I had, it ended up being a huge cat that thought I was it's mother.

Thanks for the wonderful Outdoor Wednesday treat! Now I expect one every week - hint, hint!

Loved all the photos. I haven't found a single birds nest & know the trees have to have bunches of them.

Now we need to see more pictures of Bumble Bee!

OK, Tootsie, now I'm feeling guilty for knocking down a bird's nest from my porch at least 20 times this spring.....didn't want the mess on my patio. My apologies, mrs Bird :)

Wow, the birds sure do love your house, don't they? I love the finch! I don't think I've ever seen one in the wild.

Ahh, what a great protective mama you are to all the creatures. I had Carolina wrens nesting in a moss flower basket above my breakfast table. They screamed at the cat whenever she made her way outside, but she is too old to bother with them. I was so relieved when they finally fledged. Is that Virginia Creeper growing on your house? Hope little BB is going to be okay now!

Betty said...

Your bird photos are awesome. You are fortunate to get them. Robins have a tendency to be very protective. A robin kept building a bird nest over my sister's outside light and she would dive bomb you if you came even close, needless to say my sister couldn't even use her front door. I am glad little Bumblebee is doing well. I am sure she will be well loved, look forward to seeing more pictures.

Stacey said...

Hey Tootsie. :) Isn't it fun to watch those birds grow? We had finches in the window box on our patio...actually they've been coming for the last 2 or 3 years. This year for the first time, we got to watch them learn to fly and take off. It all happened in one day. We were sad to see them go but so happy that we saw it happen this time. We've always missed it before.

I love baby birds too(-: What great pictures! Finches will build anywhere close to the house it seems. I wish I could get a robin to build a nest here!
A break from the kids till Sunday? What will you do?(-:
Glad the kitty got all fixed up too. That must have been hard on the little critter!

Oh how I enjoyed reading your bird post! I have a goldfinch nest going up in our front yard. They are so pretty to me. I also have a hummingbird feeder suctioned to my kitchen window and they come by all the time for a drink of sugar water. They are so cute to watch.

Nice to see you again! Donna

Hi Tootsie
Geez I don't know whats wrong but I could not post on here for ages this evening...I tried your lilsista's blog and the same thing. The white area would come up but I couldn't do anything on it. wonder if others had that problem.

ANYWAY...you have had some cute little babies nesting and living in your area...are they not sweet. I can just imagine you up in a tree taking pictures...and keeping everyone away. So many little familes. They are so precious. I should also post here about your dad's train set...that is amazing. He must just spend hours there...how creative he is also. So many little details and I sure hope that door is closed too!..locked..whew.

You can tell he's had it for a long time with all that he has added to it...amazing..
thank you for sharing
and have a lovely weekend!
