I found this old lady at a thrift shop here in our city. She is very cheezy looking ...but I saw more for her than this life as an out dated dust collector...so I took her home!
I sanded off what little shine was left to her, removed the awful plastic windows...and primed, painted it cream and then set to rubbing three different colors of stain all over the place! Mahogany, dark walnut and black. Then....I waited and Waited and WAITED....very impatiently for the stain to cure. Goodness it felt like an eternity!
I painted the door knobs and hinges....and waited still more waiting! Have you met me??? WAITING is NOT my thing!
But...it was finally time. Well...I may have jumped the gun a bit...hope not or my cherubs and angels are going to stick...lol Here is my big moment!
The candle lamp is from the thrift shop too...I liked it....
Not sure if I want to add wire to the doors ...for now they are empty.
She sits in the basement on the wall that is the laundry room wall. Inside the bottom is crayons and paper in the drawers...and underneath is full of board games. I have already let the "gang" know to keep their filthy mitts off my cabinet!

And a shot with the light on! I think I am liking it for now...Sure glad I found her! She cost me less than $80 for the top, bottom and all the supplies!And that is what I did when it was too dark to weed last week!

Do you have a special pair of eyes? i never find neat stuff like this. Maybe I'm just too busy delivering my own usefulness-to-me-outlived stuff to notice if there is anything useful for me. Great job of creatively refinishing it. Nice collection. i'm trying to give up dusting, but I like a clean house, so the obvious choice is to stop collecting dust collectors. :o)

Goodness gracious...what a transformation--a piece from who knows when...now looks beautiful and is such a great piece to show off all your darling cherubs. (I am also a cherub lover!) It looks stunning!

The cabinet looks great!!! Good choice leaving the glass out, as we all know...things get broken!! Ha! Maybe you should put wire in the doors to protect what's inside from accidents...it would probably just give it the finishing character touch! Love the colors together...makes it look like a completely different piece of furniture..I bet the old owners would poop their pants and want it back! Ha! Have a good day!

Tootsie, I have a question. If I harvest the seeds from my (nursery grown) petunias and other annuals; will I get something similar, or do you know? I don't have a greenhouse, but I winter sow. Never done petunias, but I've heard they are hard to grow from seed. Any suggestions? Stacey
