Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers Sept18/09

Welcome to Fertilizer Friday!!! Today is the day we Flaunt Our Flowers!!! First things first...get out there...FEED those plants. Then take some fabulous photos of those gorgeous blooms and foliage...put them in a blog post...add my photo above to that post...then...link it to my blog. Once you have your post already posted....add your name to my Mister Linky below...and strut your stuff!
I am STILL waiting for the Mandevilla to open her bloom.....how long can one bloom take? So...while I wait...
yep...she is there taking her sweet time!!!
My greenhouse needed to be winterized...or at least get started... I hauled EVERYTHING outside...pressure washed the floor....
Had not just one but Three of my windows replaced due to hockey puck damage and cold cracking...
Moved the wicker bench that I rescued....looks pretty plain here now...(ya...those are fake...but will be part of a project soon)
Put down the foam flooring....put it all back inside...and called it a day...right? Right
But the next day while the rest of the windows were being done on the greenhouse....
I yanked most of this bed...the impatiens were pretty....but really over-run with the chick weed issues...
I could only salvage this little bit of it.
Then the bed in front of the hedge needed to go...it was just plain finished...
The two on the side of the fence had to be sacrificed due to the chick weed....I just could not get it all out without taking most of the plants...
So what's a girl to do when she has two very empty beds??? She steals two jumbo size pots off the cement patio...that's what she does....
it made a little more room to move on here! lol
Then I set to watering the grass and the beds with the sprinkler...the flower wall is doing okay considering the weeds and wind.
My bike bed by the garage from the back side (view from inside garage)
Pulled the rest of the Lantana and impatiens from this bed....(yep...chick weed)
Took down the curtains on the treehouse...It seems no one wanted to play in it anymore after we had some company PEE in it and the curtains smelled like urine...GROSS!
Sure looks open now doesn't it? I will store my empty pots under here again this year.
A view of the header bed (or what's left of it) from inside the greenhouse...
and the other side of it...
It is pretty but not like last years!
I was very surprised to go out to the front yard and see this! I don't know what it is...does anyone know the name? It can't be an Iris can it???
What ever it is...it sure is pretty....and a very good surprise indeed!
Now that's it for me...things are getting slim in my gardens now a days....what's in yours? Link up so we can tour around and see!

guys!!! I am doing my best to get around and visit each and every one of you. I have been a little under the weather, and still running around like a maniac trying to fill all the obligations and errands and mouths that life has given me.
Please be patient...I will comment back soon!
Now...I think bedtime? na-laundry?
na-lets clean bathrooms tonight!
Hockey try-outs are for my son this week...so far he is doing wonderful in the A and AA division! I am so proud of my little man!

You are too funny! Your gardens look great after you have ripped them out. How do you do that exactly? Seriously, everything at your house seems like it is doing just beautifully as always. That flower that you were surprised with is so pretty, I have no idea what it is but it is a show stopper for sure. Good luck with the hockey, it doesn't sound like he needs it though. Thanks for putting all the work you do into this FF. And... feel better. Have a nice weekend.

Your gardens looks amazing; as always and I love the potted plant idea...it looks great! The bike bed is still one of my all time favorites. The unknown orange colored flower is awesome. :)

My flower beds are looking pretty sad. My cone flowers are done and need to be cut back. My black-eyed susans are on their last legs. I want to transplant my Russian Sage. I'll do that in the next few days.

It's still raining here Tootsie. I may have to pull some flower photos from last week that I haven't posted but I know they are blooming still. Going to wait until the morning light to see. Your mystery plant looks like a gladiola (sp) to me!!

Hope you are feeling better. Yes, I know what you mean...real life just gets in the way of blogging sometimes! What beautiful colours you have in your garden. That last flower looks a bit like a gladioli to me but I could be wrong!

Tootsie-if this is what you do when you're feeling under the weather, I'm impressed.
Love the bicycle bed.....and sorry you've had problems with chickweed.
Everything is looking great though.

Tootsie, my dad the Texas Master Gardener just arrived here last night. I can't wait to show him the magic that you do up there in Alberta. :)

Could your surprise plant be a gladiolus? I planted some that looked similar to that a few years ago. Whatever it is it is gorgeous. My favorite color is orange, so I really love it!

Girl, you have so much energy! Take this short break, stretch those arms, stretch those legs, wiggle fingers, wiggle toes. Better now? Go...go ...go.

Your yard looks just amazing. We are finally down to 99 degrees one day, back up to 102 today, but we are going to the nursery to buy some flowers for pots. I can't wait to have the back yard looking pretty and see some flowers. Hugs, Marty

Who got drunk and peed in your treehouse? That wasn't very guest-like was it? How do you accomplish so much? You are amazing. Everything still looks great this late in the season. The bike bed looks so good, and did I tell you how much I like your garden clock? The mystery flower looks like it has teeth. I wouldn't get to close if I were you.

Love ya kiddo...

It's still looks great even if you've had to pull some flowers. You have so many it's hard to notice :) You are so lucky to have that nice big greenhouse, looks like a lot of work getting it ready for winter.
Good luck to your son with tryouts.

I hope you get to feeling better.
Maybe it's just the weather that's getting you down; nope you work too hard, that's it.........

I am ready to pull stuff out and get ready for new fall plants too. I am gathering seed from those I can. I am still reading your post Gathering Seed (between working). I want to thank you for posting this info. I had no idea of some of the seeds you can get.

Hey if you have any that you might want to share - I need some seed of anything.

Have a great weekend Tootsie.

Definitely a gladiola! And a gorgeous one at that! wow....pee huh!?!?!? Ugh! It looks so cool there...not hot like here! I have GOT to work out in my yard sometime soon. I need to weed, pull seed, & divide! Maybe it will stop raining long enough for me to get something done

You should see what comes up in my yard that surprises me... well lets just say it isn't pretty like that. Usually some sort of fungus or mushroom or thistle or bull knettle or poison ivy or oak.
Does your thumb look like a bulb or is it just green with buds on it? Na, I saw your lovely french manicure.
Looks like a cross between a frilly day lily and iris. It's one of those "Day Lirises"
