Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers Dec 11/09

Welcome to Fertilizer Friday!!! Today is the day we all get together and flaunt our flowers!
Fertilizer Friday is the day when gardeners from all over the world join in and share the blooms of their labors!
Now...if you are not familiar with the winter rules here...you will be...since I have ZERO to share...my gardens are bare...I (and other gardeners in similar climates) are sharing our favorite photos from months, gardens, years gone by, or the current indoor gardens and houseplants that they have. Those who have real live beauty to share are doing just that!
So? What are we waiting for? Feed your flowers/ houseplants...gardens...snap some photos, link in and Flaunt with me!
I have absolutely NOTHING new to share today...NOTHING. Why? Funny you should ask...
THIS is why. This photo is of the flower bed in my header photo. We got a foot of snow here one morning last week...it is currently -15F here...that's -27C for all of us Canadians...The day we got this dump of snow...we also got all the way down to -37C overnight and I was scared that my greenhouse would not survive the night. (hey Justine...do you see the orb? I took 3 photos of the same thing and that orb -no it is not a moon or a garden object- it only appeared in 2 of them....the first and the third!)
She made out just fine! My little gas heater worked overtime, but the plants inside are still just as alive as they were for the last few months! WHEW!!!! The cold weather did however make one of the large windows crack badly...and now I am redneck mending...with packing tape until it is warm enough to replace the first panel on the long side....again.
Today I am taking a look back at the header bed...the top photo of this post is the current state it is in...
This is what it looked like in 2006. My current greenhouse sits where that little one is now...and then some..lol
This is the same bed in 2007
You all know this photo...it is the header photo for my blog...this is 2008And this is 2009.
Oh how I miss the summer!!!! Shoveling 4 foot drifts when the wind blows...BLOWS! It is snowing again right now and is expected to continue tonight...we are expecting almost 4 inches tonight!
Now....you guys know what to do...DON'T FORGET TO LINK IN!!!! Let the other gardeners see your glory...or ( in my case) daydream of warmer days!
Blogger is very slow this week...I will be there as soon as I can!

Hi Tootsie
Well, it's winter so no gardening for a few months. Time to put up yr feet, sit by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate :) and a nice book.

It's educational for me, since I cannot imagine how cold -15deg is, and what to do with so much snow! Lucky the greenhouse and plants inside are ok.

It's great to see yr summer photos - such colours!

Well, take care and keep warm. Thanks for hosting FF, Evelyn

ps. Sorry for being the troublesome one the last 2 weeks :)

Good grief...I'm shivering all over thinking about all that snow and -15! I swear up and down not to whine too loudly about our +17 from this point on. You be careful around all that slick stuff with your in-again/out-again hip!
I will say, I think summer 2009 you really outdid you!!!
Have some hot cocoa and start working on 2010 in your dreams.
Debbie
Gotta go...my teeth are chattering!

Hi Tootsie,
Your temps are even colder than ours! I've had the last 3 days off of work, and am not looking forward to going out this morning.

I enjoyed looking at your snow and lovely flowers. I'm glad the greenhouse ones are OK and hope your duct tape holds.

Well at least you have your beautiful photos to remind you what you will have again in the summer. My Christmas catus has just exploded with blooms. It's a year old, very unusual for me to have a plant that long... Don't cry about snow for Christmas, you could live in Fl. Check my blog if you want an idea of what that's like. :)

Hugs,
Chris

Oh Tootsie, even though we don't have snow, the 30 degree nights have taken the few flowers I had and wiped them out, so I guess we will have to start all over again when it warms up a bit. I hope you stay in and stay warm. Hugs, Marty

Hey Toots you got some snow there! Boy do you have snow. But your other pictures are nice and bright and cheerie. Sorry you're going to be buried for the winter. I know it gets really cold where you are too.

Sorry to hear about the cracked glass in your greenhouse. Do you replace it or does someone have to come to fix it? I'm just assuming you do it yourself :)
It's nice to see all those pretty flowers. I love seeing how much bigger the bed got each year.

You already know what a gifted gardener I believe you are...Just Beautiful Tootsie, every photo! I love these snow photos...I know you get tired of the snow, I love to see it though. Have your received any mail from me? A letter sent at the beginning of the week then a package the other day...another one headed out this weekend!!

Wow, that is so amazing. The transformation from year to year is beautiful. I can't believe all of your snow. It's pretty to look at, but I don't miss it one bit. Take good care of yourself, and have a wonderful weekend!

Do you have a place you order from like Burpee's??? I have some things I'd like to get a handle on before it's too late!

You have been on my mind a lot the past few days and I wanted to come by and see how you were doing.

Wow what a difference some snow makes. My kids are missing the idea of playing in the snow again this year--can't say mom and Dad are missing the idea of snow.

I love your posts about the greenhouse - it so inspires me!
I am sure I will have my share of redneck fixes this winter. NO SNOW yet.... but it is super cold. High of 19*F and lows in the -10 F this week. I have had a few of my warmer annuals drop and not look so pretty because the electric heater is having a hard time keeping up. I know they are not Dead... YET!
I hope to share something with you on Friday. ((HUGS))
