Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers Jan 8, 2010

Welcome to the first Fertilizer Friday of 2010!!! This is the beginning of a brand new year, and gardens, and garden tours!
Fertilizer Friday is the day when gardeners from all over the world join in and share the blooms of their labors!
If you are new to this party...WELCOME!!! If you are a regular...WELCOME BACK! Anyone can post plants of any kind...you are all welcome...the more the merrier!
Now...if you are not familiar with the winter rules here...you will be...since I have ZERO to share...my gardens are bare...I (and other gardeners in similar climates) are sharing our favorite photos from months, gardens, years gone by, or the current indoor gardens and houseplants that they have. Those who have real live beauty to share are doing just that!
I would like to add, that if you are not a fertilizer...you may still join in. The name Fertilizer Friday actually was coined to remind those of us who like to feed our greens, but forget! Fertilizing is not a must...but the flaunting...IS!
So? What are we waiting for? Feed your flowers/ houseplants...gardens...snap some photos, link in and Flaunt with me!
Today I am not able to share one new thing! I am sharing the same old plants..BUT in a new setting.
I am getting my greenhouse slowly set up to plant the spring crop of annuals, so I had to remove the houseplants that were filling it. They are now back inside the house, (and some not so happy to be there) and FILLING the whole thing!
My living room feels like a rainforest in the evening. I didn't realize how much everything had grown, until I had to remove an arm chair to accomodate them all! Funny how they all fit last spring...lol
My Banana...
Swedish Ivy-Nicco...(hates it in the living room)
A purple wandering Jew....that we started together from a cutting a few weeks back...doesn't seem to mind the living room sofa table.
My Green wandering Jew...still happy enough -for now.
The sunroom is BURSTING!!! there are three rubber trees, and several hanging plants...it is very crowded and live in there...just the way I like it! The room is cool in the winter, so I have to have cold tolerant plants out here. The back door is open and closing all day long, and if I had tender plants, they would die quickly....
My largest Christmas Cactus is still blooming...it has been blooming now since November! Seems happy enough to be in here! My gigantic spider plant (used to hang in the sunroom) was too large to hang, so she sits now on top of the old stereo in the living room. Remember the seed pods I shared a while back?
I have begun the harvest!!!! Several of you gals are getting seeds very soon!
I have begun the countdown to spring here in Alberta...enough snow...cold weather and dreary skies...bring on the sunshine!
So? what do you have to dazzle us with? Grab that camera and share! Can't wait to see what you all have going on in your zones! Don't forget to link in with the mister linky below!

Wow! You have a jungle in there. My house doesn't have a sunny room so I don't really have any plants to speak of - boo hoo. I'll have to use some pics from last season for a post.

Tootsie, thank you for hosting Fertilizer Friday again this year. Your plants look really pretty in your house but I do bet you feel like it is a rainforest on some days.

Tootsie_ I don't have a thing to dazzle you with except a burning desire for warm weather and digging in the dirt :) Your houseplants are as beautiful and your yard--especially the Christmas cactus. I can't wait to see what seeds you have in those jars!

I am always in awe of your ability to work with nature as readily as an artist works with paint!

Your patience must be as big as your green thumb. I used to have over 200 plants in the house, for years, and finally just couldn't take it anymore!! Beautiful. B : )

Look like a jungle up in that house. Where that tiger?

I am so jealous of all the plants you can have inside. My two cats would be eatting/puking those up all the time. I think this makes my spring fever worse when I can't enjoy anything inside all winter.

Nice house plants! Wow, you get the indoor green thumb award.

WoW! Tootsie your house plants are gorgeous! I don't have very good luck with houseplants in this place. It doesn't have the right light in the right places.
Hey I've been trying to start a Wandering Jew for months now and haven't had good luck. What ever did you do to get it that big in such a short time? It's beautiful!

Everything looks so beautiful! You have the touch my friend. I had a Thanksgiving cactus, actually I had it for about 20 years and I killed it this past year, I still can't believe I lost if after all that time. Maybe silk plants will become fashionable again some day! lol

HEY GIRL... I love your posting! You need to share a peek into the greenhouse. I posted some images from my greenhouse today for your Fertilize Friday.
LOVING your Cactus! I don't know how to get mine blooming again. IT was doing so well until I went on vacation back in December. Now she is out in my greenhouse staying green at 55*F. Any suggestions on how to get her to bloom again?

I love your banana tree plant and your spider plant. I do miss my lovely spider plant; I had no choice but to leave it to the couple I sold our house to. They were quite happy with all of the plant gifts we left them.

I plan to buy another little one once Florida remembers that it's the Sunshine state. Meanwhile, I'm shivering!

Hay tootsie, I have to admit I;ve been procrastinating on pictures, I don't have many plants indoors, I much prefer them outdoors. and many look fairly pitiful at the momment after our unseasonalbe cold weather last week which practically shut down our capital city. I AM HOPING my satsuma tree survived! whoa is me!!
