Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers! Feb 26/10

Fertilizer Friday is the day when gardeners from all over the world join in and share the blooms of their labors! After an incredibly busy and stressful week, it is nice to know I can relax and take a peek at some of the loveliest blogs-and the gardens they showcase....
If you are new to this party...WELCOME!!! If you are a regular...WELCOME BACK! Anyone can post plants of any kind...you are all welcome...the more the merrier!
Now...if you are not familiar with the winter rules here...you will be...since I have ZERO to share...my gardens are bare...I (and other gardeners in similar climates) are sharing our favorite photos from months, gardens, years gone by, or the current indoor gardens and houseplants that they have. Those who have real live beauty to share are doing just that!
I would like to add, that if you are not a fertilizer...you may still join in. The name Fertilizer Friday actually was coined to remind those of us who like to feed our greens, but forget! Fertilizing is not a must...but the flaunting...IS!
Please Publish the Fertilizer Friday Logo at the top of this post, and link into the mister linky list below. If you do not do this, you may not get as many "tourists" visiting your Friday post.

So? What are we waiting for? Feed your flowers/ houseplants...gardens...snap some photos, link in and Flaunt with me!
My offering for this week brings a smile to my face. I have been in the greenhouse!!! I got to spend 4 full hours in there this week.

My little Geraniums got to be transplanted to larger pots!
There are more this year than any other year...but not as many as I had originally thought...The germination of the seed this year was not as high as previous years. This is kind of a blessing...as I ran out of pot trays!!!
When I first transplant the tiny seedlings, I have to soak them in the chemical solution to help prevent damping off disease from wiping out my Geranium crop...I haven't even counted the pots that I planted yet...so I'm not quite sure exactly how many I have! lol I'll have to get back to ya on that one! I can say it is around the 200 or more mark.
Then...I did a little seed planting. Pansy was up this week...and next week, but I only got a few done.
This is not the actual plants...it is a photo of the seed packet.
This is what pansy seeds look like.
I use the 9 cell packs for them...place one seed in the center of each little cell, and cover with 3mm (1/8 inch) of soil....water from below...and wait.
And there they are...6 trays done so far! I hope to have lots more to share next week, as I plant when Busy is at school...and there are a lot of little seeds waiting some soil!!!
Thanks for joining me for a tiny tour of my greenhouse today. I hope you will stop and put your name in the mister linky below, grab my logo above and share some flowers with me this week!
Next week, stay tuned for an update on my Lufah plants, and an education on how to grow them. So many have asked, so I'm preparing a post...also...I am planning a post on how to paint the furniture that I shared yesterday...it's a busy Tootsie around here!!!
Have a safe and happy weekend friends!

You are one busy girl. I am still knocked over by painting a couch I can't even comprehend 200 geranium seedlings. You are a force to be reckoned with. We are in the midst of a huge snowstorm so the thought of planting flowers sounds soooo great.

My father in law who was a landscaper would always have a greenhouse full of seedlings, some that took many months to start. I could never remember to water and fertilize and stuff. I'm the one at the garden centre.

I'm amazed that you grow geraniums from seed. I've never thought of doing that but I love that you do! I drool every time I see the greenhouse space you have.

Yay! Tootsie's back!

And to think, the one week you missed was the one week I decided to write a fresh new post for Fertilizer Friday instead of recycling one.

I feel like I should go back and link last weeks post too... LOL

Welcome back, your plants look healthy and happy!

Do you mostly plant annuals in your greenhouse, or do you work with perennials too? Do you have a little stall where you sell all these plants? Or do you own a large piece of land?

200 geraniums! Good for you, it must be nice to see so many popping up. You're going to have a very full garden this year. I've never had luck starting Pansies from seed purposefully, but they do reseed on their own.
Hopefully things are a little better there this week :)

What's going on?!!!
I miss blogging for a few days and find that, when I come back, you've done MOUNTAINS of stuff!

You've painted more furniture, re-arranged another room, planted zillions of seed and seedlings and so it goes on! What have I done - sod all! :)

I get tired just looking at all the work you do. I'm with Darla - don't think you sleep. I can't seem to do anything lately - probably because I don't sleep!!! And I'm tired!!! Everything does look great though - sure hope my seeds germinate. I'm just gonna cry if they don't because I'm doing quite a few (for me it's quite a few considering they don't always work and I'm trying again).

Your seedlings sure have grown Toostsie. I have pink pansies to start sowing soon. You've one big greenhouse there.

I've managed to take part this week in the meme - tho its stretching it abit - when it comes to blooms.

Have a great day :) Rosie

Wow! I think it looks exciting. I was going to jump in this week, but I ran out of time because it is Prince Charming's birthday. I do have a question, though: What is this about the chemical you're using to help with transplant? I still such a newbie that I don't know.

Ah just took a minute to pretend I was there in your greenhouse. I could almost smell the dirt. That was sure nice. Now back to reality I guess, it was nice for the moment though.

How many seed packets did you buy this year, and will you plant all of them?

G'Day again Tootsie. Just in answer to your dahlia talk. I am not such a great gardener so I probably neglected to care for the dahlias as well as you would but here is what I know about them in our sthn climate. You are supposed to dig out the bulbs after they die down at the end of flowering and store them in a dry place in the shed, hung in bags so the air gets around them is good. They can go mouldy or get fungus if you leave them in the ground. I didn't do that. They like lots of manure in the growing season. The frosts we have here are not as vicious as what you would get over there, our absolute lowest temps in winter are probably minus 4 or 5 celcius or about 25F, I think that is how you measure them where you live, and that is only in he very early morning. We rarely get snow, and it melts as soon as it settles if we do get some. The ones that I had were the common, easy to get at the nursery ones, with flowers about 4 inches across, not the fancy ones. I don't know their proper names. Might be worth trying to over winter your bulbs in the greenhouse, I don't know if you tried that. Cheers.

Hey Tootsie! I see you are at it again and very successfully so. What fun to have a greenhouse. We are still dealing with 5' snowdrifts, but it is up into the 30's! Can't wait to be showing garden flowers on your blog again.

Wow, you have a lot of seedling to transplant! It will take lots of hours to transfer on the ground, you will definitely have a lot of things to do when conditions are well already. Next week i might join your Fertilizer Friday, as i am just new in this community of plant bloggers. thank you.

Thank you Tootsie, I passed your blog and name along to the newbies who are trying seeds and herbs. I also gave them Troy's info. This will be a very good post for them to see the process. Thanks for your help.

I've got to get busy planting my seeds too.
