It’s Friday again already and that means it’s time to flaunt our flowers, gardens and all things green!
Now if you are not familiar with the rules of this little party…here they are;
If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!
You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!
Your post must include the logo above and a link to Tootise Time, or the linky will be deleted. I don’t mean to be harsh, but there have been a lot of people linking in and when the participants graciously click over to their blogs, there is no sign of Fertilizer Friday anywhere to be found. This is not fair to those who do follow the rules, therefore…well you know!
So? what are you waiting for? Get outside, feed, water, snap and post!
Today we are going for a walk in the rain. I want to show you the new….the old…the successful and the UGLY. The weather here has given many challenges for this gardener…and I have managed (with the help of a good friend who took the time to come help me move all the pots, build the tents to protect from the snow…and cover all the beds to protect from frost several times) to overcome some…and for that I am thankful. Let me show you what I mean.
Apple Blossom Geraniums in bloom.
My header bed took a bit of a beating…and seems to be suffering a little…especially the geraniums the huge amount of moisture all at once, caused their leaves to redden a little…the lavatera and the sweet peas are poking through the ground…and I am optimistic that I can save pretty much all of them. I am not sure about the Marigolds…well…they are quite black, so we shall see…
This bed is one of the best I have this year…nothing even wilted when I first planted…and it seems to be just going strong…
My barn-board bench.
My BBQ in the room I made last summer.
The patio…my big pots are are coming around finally.
Next I am going to show you some of what I have been doing all week. I ache all over…and I am still not finished. I am making another room.
This old BMX bicycle is one of the treasures I “lifted” from the farm a couple weeks ago. I ripped off the breaks and the break lines…I took off the reflectors…and still want to remove the padding from the seat to make it look a little more rustic…but I quite like it.
The bike is beside the trampoline in the fire pit room I am making. The little gray chair is also from Grampie’s stash of awesomeness…
Here is a view of the new fire pit room from the back gate and the sidewalk by the garage. This area was intended for winter storage of such things as boats, trailers, or vehicles. In the summer…why not make it look nice? It has always been the bain of my yard…the eyesore if you will…I decided that since this is MY yard…it will look like MY yard is supposed to!
The benches are better back here…especially after I finish staining them. They kill the grass fast and are a pain to move around when I mow every 3 days. I picked up a portable fire pit…and I am good to go!
This table flips open and becomes long. It will be perfect to hold the hot dogs, plates and condiments. (at least until I get the time to build what I really have in my head…and you know I will do it! ha-ha.
I moved all 16 sidewalk blocks this morning to make a spot for my gang to play basketball…I can’t wait till Busy’s hoop is gone…it is a pain in my A$$! ha-ha
My bike bed…is looking spindly…I hope on hopes it finally catches…cuz it is usually my favorite view.
Lime bi-color petunias look healthy in the basket though.
If it were not raining…I would have mowed for you…but it is wet here today…so I fertilized the lawn again…hoping it will help the new pieces of sod that I put to fill some of the dog patches will catch on and grow grow grow!!!
NOW….for the bad stuff… The UGLY stuff…the stuff Tootsie’s nightmares are made of….
Yep! this is a window box in the patio room. Those are supposed to be Wave Petunias…Sadly…they were touched by a little frost when the sheet blew off…and the strong winds we have had have ripped them to shreds. I am giving it one week to sprout something new…or it’s over! Ya hear me??? Gone!
This used to be full of Impatiens and Coleus…even with covers…the bed is toasted. Lucky for me…I have a few trays of plants left over…might have to do a little experimenting with this bed…
AND…that’s all I have to share today. I am aching and tired…my sprained arm is very sore…using my mouse makes me want to cry. (and yet I can go outside and carry sidewalk blocks with it and be perfectly happy) Go figure…ha-ha.
There have also been some internet issues…it has been sporadic and very slow.
I am sorry I didn’t make it around to all of you last week…I am hoping this week will be a little less hectic…ya right…ha-ha. I am trying!
Now…get your camera…take your shots…and post…the rest of the world wants to see what YOU have to flaunt this week!

Hello sweet friend!! Sorry about your frost bite! Isn't it amazing how late it can snow sometimes!!
Well the yard is looking gorgeous and I can tell you have been busy busy!
I always love looking at the old bike of yours. I bought one last year at a yard sale but haven't figured out where to put it without someone stealing it! Had a horse head out on the fence and one day I see that it had headed for greener pastures for it was vamuse, vamoose, gone!
bee blessed

Amazingly bad luck with that weather... I've never had snow on annuals, although we have had devastatingly late deluges of the white stuff! It must have been terribly upsetting but it looks like you are dealing with it extremely well... Larry
How terribly heartbreaking, to put so much time and work, your heart, your soul into all those plants, and then, just when you think the hard part is done and you get to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labors, to see it all slipping away...
I feel your pain to some degree. My great plans for a vegetable garden are behind the 8-ball since we got 6" of rain in one month and flooded everything. I dug a test hole today, 8" deep, and in about 20 minutes it was full of water, so it will still be a while before I can even think about planting.
So, I continue my posts about composting, and meanwhile admire the flowers that you have that survived.
If we hadn't of known about your severe weather, your photos would not have told us as at all. Looks good as usual Tootsie, love, love, love the bi-color lime petunias!
Tootsie, Am sorry about your snow but it looks like for the most part your plants are going to be ok. Things really are looking beautiful for the most part! Hang in there! Love the bike bed and your header bed. You do have an amazing yard!
Beth
Gosh you have been busy. Everything is looking wonderful. I have been lazy this uear no new beds. I think, you might have inspired me to use the clippings from my trimmings to start another bed. Thanks for hosting and for your inspiration.
Sandy
Your garden is looking spectacular. I love your fold out table.
Tootsie, looks like your garden survived pretty well. I love that bi-colored petunia.
Eileen
From the looks of things, its hard to imagine you had snow last week. I love the bike bed under the tree. Your bi-color petunias are so pretty. What a beautiful yard you have. Your hard work definitely shows.
I love that bicycle under the tree! Everything looks great!

AFter all my talking about landscaping we finally got it finished last weekend. Yea!!! I really like your little birdhouse bench with flower pots all around it, looks adorable.
Hi Tootsie,
I'm sorry for all the trials and tribulations you are going through. I enlarged several of the photos, and thought things looked to be shaping up nicely. I love your new room.
Don't worry about leaving comments on every post, or just say, "I was here, thanks for participating!" I don't get all of them visited, even though I'd like to. I don't keep up well at all with anything I do, for that matter.
Let that arm heal!
What was Mother Nature thinking to snow and frost your lovely gardens, especially in June? I hope everything bounces back. That is awful. Even with that soar arm yu keep everything looking great~You can't keep a good woman down. Hope you feel better soon.
Your multi color petunias are quite amazing! Love all your new rooms and fun ideas. Thanks for sharing all of this. I truly feel for you and the late snows/freezes etc. We are in Idaho and the same thing happens to us. I get apricots about every 3 years or so because of this very thing. I am sure most of this will snap out of it. Take care of your arm! Paula in IDaho
Looking beautiful!!! Love all the new improvements!!!!
I am sure the frosted ones will be replaced and it will all look awesome again too(-: That is really to bad it had to snow)-:
I tell things they have a week too. I am not sure they listen but thats my time limit also(-: Shape up or ship out(-:
It rained here yesterday! I was so excited!!! It will probably be the last one for a longggg time so I am enjoying it! Next week 90 degree weather so things are going to go into shock from the heat no doubt)-:
It is my first day of summer vacation and I have a project in mind to start today so I better get my A$$(love it) in gear!!! LOL
I love all of your little 'rooms'. You have such a great imagination! I'm thinking of a couple of bikes I have hanging in my garage :) First I have to get into the 'woods' and trim back the forest that is trying to invade my garden. You are truly an inspiration!!
Well I'd say considering the weather you've had your yard looks beautiful. Aside from loosing the impatiens and coleus you'd never know you had snow a few days ago.
I love the rooms you are creating. I wish I had space to do more of that in my yard. I had to laugh about your comment about the little basketball hoop. There are certain toys in my yard that I won't be sad to see go, although I don't want my girls to get any older, maybe just get tired of the ugly old plastic kids picnic table.
So sorry about the loses but overall, your garden is looking good. I love your fire pit and seating area. A great place to enjoy your flowers from I'm sure. Those bi colored petunias are cool.
Everything looks wonderful. I really like the barn-board bench and the BBQ room!
Lovely garden! I've never seen the lime pink petunias before - just gorgeous! Thanks for hosting Tootsie-glad I found you :)
Ah Tootsie! Darn frost...but you'd never know unless you told us...everything is gorgeous!
Your little wave petunias are trying so hard...hey their blooming for ya! LOL
Love the lime bi-color....too pretty!
I've been on the look out for a bike..love yours. I have an old wire bike basket I want to mount on it and add petunias too...just need to find the bike. There's been a few at yard sales but the prices were too high for me. Yeh, I want something for nothing ;) It wil come I have no doubt.
I hear ya on the bball hoop. Mines finally gone! Yippee
Take care of your arm. Mice can be dangerous...you're better off with the cement pads...;) LOL
*hugs*deb
Too bad about the weather Tootsie. You are an over comer ya know. Your gardens are going to be so beautiful. I'm gonna need sunglasses just to look at your beds in about 5 weeks. I love to look at the big picture of your gardens. Beautiful color of the petunia - green. You are always up to something and the new room is so inviting. Wish I was near to join you for coffee or whatever.
Your gardens are so beautiful! I'm so glad you share it with everyone.
Happy to join you today! Your garden is so beautiful, your photographs are awesome!

i can't believe how beautiful your garden is in the header! you've got quite the green thumb! all that rain sure has made the grass GREEEEEN! CAN WAIT TO SEE THIS YEARS GARDEN AS IS PROGRESSES. even in califorina where the sun shines most days and we have little frost to contend with, i am not as good a gardener as you in canada! God Bless~

Your flowers and gardens are breathtaking. I think I could spend hours looking at all your pictures. I am trying to imagine seeing them in person and how wonderful your yard must smell. WOW!! My children at home saw the pics and had to stop and look with me and I sent your web address to another daughter who loves flowers and photography. You can be sure I will make your blog a regular stop. I also LOVE all the creative POTS you use for planting. Man, I wish I had saved that old grill. Maybe I will need to watch what is left out for the trash guys to pick up!! (smile)
