Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers Jan.14/11

Copy_of_001

Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!! Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together , snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!

If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?” Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:

If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!

You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!

All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and a link to Tootise Time, or the linky will be deleted. I don’t mean to be harsh, but there have been a lot of people linking in and when the participants graciously click over to their blogs, there is no sign of Fertilizer Friday anywhere to be found. This is not fair to those who do follow the rules, therefore…well you know!

So? what are you waiting for? Get outside, feed, water, snap and post!

So it’s a snow day, week, month here in Alberta. NOTHING is growing here unless a girl forces it to in a greenhouse…just sayin’…and I decided that I would save my greenhouse shares for another day. I am sharing a little silly instead

Today my Flaunt…is of something very rare…something so unique that only I have them growing…something that will only bloom in the midst of a dreary winter day in the cold Alberta landscape….

So? Are you curious?

Are you wondering what the heck will grow and bloom in sub zero temps???

These babies will put a smile on a girl’s face even when she is so sick she is wishing for someone to put her out of her misery….(and yes that girl is me)

Allow me to introduce you to……

Drumroll please…..(thx)

SNOW DAISY’S!

!cid_0105010827

Snow Daisy’s grow in the parking lots, sidewalks and other smooth surfaces in Alberta Canada during the winter months. They bloom continuously and require little attention from any gardener. They are threatened only by shovels and snowfall. They are a cheery way to add a smile to any gardeners day…they are rivalled only by their cousin the snow angel. They will not grow indoors…and caution should be taken if they are colored in any way…yellow or black/brown Snow Daisy’s are not to be eaten. heehee

We have had a lot of snow fall on us the last week or so. In fact it is more than 12 inches. It has also become very cold here.

My little household has been very ill. My kids missed a full week of school, and now, after nursing them back to health, I am suffering from a serious case of the influenza virus that is going around the area. I have been hold up in bed for days now, and have been out of commission for the most part.

I got these photos from a friend via text message who was feeling sorry for this old gal, and figured I could use a reason to smile. I thought it would be fun to play with the photos, and add some growing and care instructions for you all to enjoy and giggle with me.

Now it’s your turn. I want to see what you are flaunting this week…so get busy…snap, post and share! ( don’t forget to link into the linky below!!!)

!cid_0105011012

This one was done with a photo editing program.

They are made with the sole of a winter boot…believe it or not!

Until next time….hugs and smiles and warm wishes for a safe and happy weekend to you all. Thanks for linking in to all who are participating this week!

Stay tuned…next week will include a few good posts with opinions on some very serious garden issues, and some progress in the greenhouse! If there is ever a post you would like me to create to help you with your garden endeavours…please don’t hesitate to ask! I always do my best!

*) *) *) to you three who are oh so special to me!!! (and you know who you are! it does my heart good to see you peeking in on my snow flowers this week!) mmmmmmwuah!

hehe, I have made dogs ,dragons, all kinds of snow creatures ,but never a daisey. TOOOO cool. Today will be the first day I have been at work in 2 weeks. I feel I have been playing hookey from school. Just 3 inches of snow here. Thanks for the nice comment on the book. I think she wants to do more, and she is formatting it to be put in print besides the Kendle. Kathy
Feel Better Tootsie!!! Spring is coming!!!
I haven't seen any snow daisies here in Ontario, but now that I know what they look like I can keep an eye out for them. ;-)
I've had visions of the Alberta clippers that come our way though as a big schooner made of snow and ice.
A lot of flu in our province as well, but so far we've been lucky to avoid it.
Hope you are feeling better soon.
Stay warm!
