Fertilizer Friday/Flaunt Your Flowers Feb. 25/11

FERTILIZER FRIDAY 2

Good Day! Happy Friday!!!

Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!! Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together, snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!

Before we begin I feel that I need to re-state the pre-requisites for this little party. There isn’t that much, but it seems there has been some confusion amongst a few participants.

If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?” Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:

If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!

You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!

All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootsie Time, or the linky will be deleted. I don’t mean to be harsh, but there have been a lot of people linking in and when the participants graciously click over to their blogs, there is no sign of Fertilizer Friday anywhere to be found. This is not fair to those who do follow the rules, therefore…well you know!

So? what are you waiting for? Get outside, feed, water, snap and post!

062

It has been a very cold week here in Alberta.

061

The snow melted some last week during the chinook we had, but this week is a very different story. Lets go inside the greenhouse where it’s warm…almost like spring!

057

I haven’t killed the loofa yet…but it’s not the happiest plant I have. Perhaps the gloomy skies are the reason. It hasn’t been too sunny here lately.

053

The little Geranium seedlings are doing VERY well…

046

…and there are a lot of them!

044

The smaller colorful pots are the Petunias I planted yesterday. Can’t wait till that whole wall is filled with GREEN!!!

036

Green like this!

045

I still have a few established plants in the greenhouse…which seem happy to be there. I moved most of them inside the house until after the spring seedlings get planted out in my gardens.

072

I found a good spot for my Orchids…and while moving them I realized why they are so intimidating…

021

They have huge fangs! ha-ha

019

They look like they are going to bite!

013

I wonder if there is a reason for it…or if they are just beautiful, and I have a good imagination. hmmmm *)

084

One of my Christmas Cactus plants is in bloom.

092

This is one of the first ones, and there are dozens on the plant still to open.

076

Although it’s been cold and dreary most of this week…my houseplants are doing well in the sunroom, where they are basking in today’s sunshine…I just can’t wait till spring. (and not just because my house is bursting with plants waiting to spend the summer in the greenhouse! haha)

So…? What do you have growing? Do you have a greenhouse/sunroom that you grow in?

Will you take my invitation and link in this week? I can’t wait to meet your flowers!

I am still catching up from last week, it’s been busy here again. Sick kids, work and other mommy obligations sometimes makes Tootsie a bad blogger! I will get there…

I have also been working on a bit of a makeover on Tootsie Time…please be patient with me. HTML is NOT my friend. There are still a few kinks to iron out.

Thanks for stopping by, and to those who link in…I appreciate it! Now lets get busy and start the Friday Flaunting!

Until Next time…hugs and smiles, wishes for a safe and happy weekend to you all…and ….

Happy Gardening!

I have things popping up all around the garden. Hubby wants to get mulch next week. I love orchids, but I don't have one. My neice has a large one,she boards at a nursery till it blooms then she brings it home. Kathy

Hi! You do have a lot to flaunt today...and I see many more potential beauties. Very soon, you may have to flaunt them daily instead of weekly.

Your new page design is lovely. I see there's lots going on in your greenhouse ... just terrific to see all those seedlings coming along so well. I also see your orchids are doing well, despite your reservations about how well you could care for them ... they are so beautiful!

Things are looking really good in that greenhouse! Hopefully the sun will shine, melt the snow and dry up all the sickness in your household....it sure does look cold outside your windows.

Love your new look. It was much faster to load. I envy your greenhouse. I do not start many seeds as I have only a few lights. I do start some veggies for the garden though. Your orchids are realy beautiful. V

Hi Tootsie, it's been a while since I emailed but had to tell you about my orchid. I have had it for seven years and it was beautiful (and intimidating!) when it was given to me as a gift. When those blooms finally faded, it never bloomed again until now. It started growing this stalk which I thought was another air root, it has so many. But this one was different. I was almost afraid to hope that it would be growing buds. But it was. The first bud has bloomed and it is so pretty! It has two more buds which are getting bigger by the day. Soon it will have three beautiful flowers! I am so excited! I wish I were more computer savvy and could download photos but, I'm not. So there is no pic. It is petite, white, with a vivid mauve throat with a touch of bright yellow in the mauve. And you're right about it looking like it wants to bite you! My daughter Megan said the same thing. She made me laugh when she said if she got to close it would take a chunk out of her! Your plants are looking great. I have houseplants inside but only ten. I have been covering up all my outside plants on the nights I know it will freeze or get close to freezing. Living in the central valley of California, I don't have the cold weather that you do but many of my larger plants are jades (the largest is about six feet in diameter) so they need protection. I also have some very large, very old (about 30 yrs) asparagus ferns that I have always babied through the winters. I love reading your blog, keep up the great work! Alma

So beautiful!! I bet it has been cold there. My husband is from Alberta, and he tried to explain to me what the winters are like there and I can't imagine :) Your blog is so colorful, springy and great.
I hopped over from the "Boost My Blog Friday" and really glad I did. Have a great one!

Wow; I am in love! Those plants and flowers are beautiful. I am a new visitor and follower via Java's. I had my first ever garden last year and have bigger and better plans for this season which will start inside the second week of March.
I shall dream of the day when I have something gorgeous enough to link up in Fertilizer Friday. (I have lots of house plants do they count)?
