Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers May 20/11

Copy_of_001

Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!!

Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together , snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!

If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?” Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:

If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!

You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!

All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootise Time, or the linky will be deleted. I don’t mean to be harsh, but there have been a lot of people linking in and when the participants graciously click over to their blogs, there is no sign of Fertilizer Friday anywhere to be found. This is not fair to those who do follow the rules, therefore…well you know!

So? what are you waiting for? Get outside, feed, water, snap and post!

Things here have been CRAZY as usual…I haven’t had one minute to sit and relax for days!!! It feels great to be so busy, but this Toots is getting tired. I am looking forward to the spring plant being all done, and things to slow down a little bit. I miss my blog time! ha-ha…but alas…it is what it is….and here is what I have been up to…and have to share.

It has been incredibly windy here this week. Damaging winds have taken their toll on my spring crop of annuals…

072

…my once lush pots have sustained some serious wind damage…but I will fix that up with a little pruning and a lot of TLC…no worries there…

Most of the flowers spent the last week outside in the garden…I didn’t have time to bring them inside…so they are hardened off …sunburned and wind whipped…but some didn’t get out yet…for example…

051

My Passion flower from seed looks great planted with blue bacopa-

054

-another with white bacopa. I can’t wait to see what they look like when they bloom…

055

My mature passion flower spent the last two weeks blooming up a storm…and now if you look closely, you will see….

056

SEED PODS!!!! Yippie!!!

053

Datura Angels Trumpet is looking good in this pot…I have started 6 of them to plant outside in the garden…I love the blooms these make, and can’t hardly wait to share them!

059

I am loving the combination in this pot…it just pops!

060

This one is going to be great too…

065

The hanging baskets are looking good in spite of the wind and the hard pruning I gave them…bushy bushy!!!

082

My window box hanging on the front railing of the house…the vine is also budded and ready to burst some leaves!!!

064

This is a view of some of the trays of flowers in the back yard waiting patiently to be planted into the garden…there is a lot of work still to be done here….or should I say play…ha-ha-ha! *)

073

The Perennials in my garden seem to be getting along nicely…I was really worried that the Iris bed wouldn’t make it through the winter…ha-ha-ha….silly me!

080

They look like they are thriving!

079

Only one of the hydrangeas from last year have started to bud out…hopefully they both do…they were glorious last year.

070

I did manage to take 10 minutes to plant the bed by the fire pit. I just couldn’t help myself… It looks a million times better already!

It is the May long weekend here in Alberta…and that means lots is going on! It is the first long weekend of the summer and everyone is excited! The kids and I have a few fun things planned for the weekend…we are having a family weekend…long overdue…everyone gets to have a little fun!…So…I will be back with bells on…and maybe a little dirt under my nails on Monday or Tuesday to share another project and maybe a few planted beds with you!

I wish you all a safe and happy weekend filled with friends and family. Hugs and smiles…and thanks so much for being patient while you wait for me to return visits and reply to comments and emails. I have them all saved…just need a little time…Thanks for visiting…and to those who link in!

Until next time….happy gardening!

*)*)*)…to my special three…I hope your long weekend brings you everything you so richly deserve! xoxoxoxo!

Hi Tootsie, i have been peeping here since this morning, but since we are ahead of you by one day, your Fri hasnt started yet! haha. But here you are with the post even if submission still starts tonight, unfortunately i cant do it tonight though my post was finished last night. I am sorry you were so busy, but looking at those piles of pots to be planted, i can see you will still be full in a couple of loooong days. It can be more advantageous for us here as our plants can be made perennials if we decide to, or biennials even if they are annuals, courtesy of no winter season!

I can't see the link to add my post, Tootsie. I will pop by later to add it.

It's lovely to see that you've been able to get out into the garden to start planting up. I'm sure it will all look absolutely terrific in no time, despite the wind.

Love the wagon wheels in that bed by the firepit-what a nice display that makes.
So is that the trick to the bushy beautiful plants? A hard pruning? I have NEVER had luck with the fancy petunias-Waves, etc. They always look leggy and blech!

Your plants are looking lovely. Mine need weeding (and sunshine) badly. Have a great Victoria Day weekend.

BTW - I tried linking but it wouldn't work for me today. Blogger problems again??? Nevertheless, please check me out to see what's growing in my garden this week.

You had nasty wind we had nasty hail...when is the weather going to settle down?
Your gardens and plants still look fab! This is a busy time of year, so much to do in the garden. I have been busy too and neglectful (hanging head in shame). The weeds have taken over! I went out early this morning and got the front pulled, hoping to get to the back Sunday (so far that day is open).
Have a great family fun time this weekend!
*hugs*deb

I've had a Passion Flower for about 5 or 6 years now. We finally got flowers 2 years ago, but no seed pods. Yet. I'm so excited for you. Maybe there's hope for mine yet!

I love the wagon wheels. They really add to the overall feel. I must try and source some as a feature.

Your baskets and gardens look terrific! What kind of hydrangeas do you have? I think your passion flower planters are going to be amazing planted with bacopa underneath. Lots of work/play but it's coming along nicely.
