Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers July 8/11

Copy_of_001

Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!!

Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together , snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!

If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?” Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:

If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!

You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!

All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootise Time, or the linky will be deleted. I don’t mean to be harsh, but there have been a lot of people linking in and when the participants graciously click over to their blogs, there is no sign of Fertilizer Friday anywhere to be found. This is not fair to those who do follow the rules, therefore…well you know!

So? what are you waiting for? Get outside, feed, water, snap and post!

School is out in Central Alberta…and that means MOM IS RUNNING, even harder than normal! There has been an endless stream of kids (most of which do not belong to me) at my house. There have been countless sleepovers already and this is just the first week! We have had good weather the last couple weeks and because of this stroke of luck…things are beginning to grow in my gardens!

I did some more weeding when I had a few minutes off and on, and was never alone…

DSCN0843

This pair of little beauties was watching me from not too far away…

DSCN0845

…isn’t he just the cutest? No fear of me from what I can tell…he was on the hook over top of me almost the entire time…we had a wonderful little chat. ha-ha

DSCN0936

I am so excited for next week…my Roses are getting ready to go full bloom!!! There are dozens of buds on the one out front…I would have been happy with just one bud…I thought they perished in the winter cold!

The rest of my flaunt is going to be a bit different this week. I am trying to share the view of my header bead in the evening with the string of lights I laid in the bed…bare with me…a photographer I am NOT.

DSCN0879

I struggled with the flash…and the settings…

DSCN0871

…most of them came out rather…uh…blurred??? ugh.

DSCN0919

…others needed some serious cropping…

DSCN0951

…I wish I could have captured the subtle glow that the lights give to his bed…ugh. I gave up after about 150 photos and moved onto another evening garden…

DSCN0933

This time I have a bit more luck. This is the seating area I created for the garden room…It feels so calm in this space now…

DSCN0934

It is rather cozy in the evening. Almost feels romantic…ALMOST. haha …the mosquito issue sort of kills the mood!

DSCN0933

I actually got myself all sprayed up with bug spray and headed out side…to sit right down in this space and create this post! It was nice to sit and enjoy the night gardens…and write.

DSCN0953

I will end this post with a very poor shot of my front door vines with the lights in them. I wish on wishes that I could capture the true effect that they have…These photos do not do my lights justice! lol But again…I am a gardener…definitely not a photographer!

So…With hugs and smiles and wishes for you all to have a safe and happy weekend, I sign off with a smile and a big thank you to those who have stopped in this week to comment and to link up. I do so love to see what you share!!! I am still slowly but surely making my way around blog land…some of you are nodding…you’ve seen me! I will very soon make it all the way around…I just need a little time!

Until next week….Happy Gardening!

*)*)*) to my very special three…Oh how I love that you read my every word…no matter where you are! You just make me feel soooo good knowing I am such an important part of your life! Just remember…Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on!

I love your little weeding buddy, he really is a cutie...How I wish I could tell you how to capture those lovely lights, but alas I have not suggestions other than google or the manual...these things of course take time to learn and who of us has that much spare this time of yr :P

Thnx for hosting again.

Tootsie, I really enjoyed seeing your gardens after dark. They look beautiful with the lights. You are an artist!

Even though you struggled taking a great shot of it, your garden with its' lovely lights twinkling in the evening looks wonderful. I think I'd be lathering myself in mosquito repellent so I could sit out there for a few hours.

Love your little weeding friend. I do exactly the same thing with the wallabies and kookaburras that appear to be watching me work in the garden too. We can have the most involved discussions!!

I think your pictures are good enough that I get the mood and feel. It IS beautiful with the lights. Thanks for hosting.

Hi Tootsie... it was pretty dark when I shot my post of a garden walk through at dawn... I always have blurring problems if the light is too low unless I use a tripod... have you tried that? Works great! Larry

Even while using a tripod, night shots are still my frustration. But yours already look like Christmas, oh how nice to have coffee and biscuits in your garden! Thanks for hosting.

I've taken my share of frustrating night light photos. I've found the trick is to take the photos much earlier than you think you should. Your beds look magical!

Tootsie,
I think you did just fine!! Love the gardens at night. So pretty and really love your sitting areas lit at night. And the front of your home with the lights in the vines is pure delight.
Now you have me wanting to add more lights to the back yard!!

Thanks so much for hosting!!
Hugs,
Debbie

I'll bet your seating area is just wonderful with the lights at night. Bug spray-well, not so wonderful, but yeah, very necessary, unfortunately.
Have a great weekend, Tootsie!

Hello,

This is my first time to your blog (obviously). Thanks for hosting. Night light in your garden is so pretty. It's like having a whole other garden!

Tootsie, the lights are great. We just put up some solar string lights on our pergola. They really add a special feel to the night garden.

Nice! Your 'night garden' is beautiful. Happy FF.

Being a stellar photographer myself -- NOT -- I just know how beautiful those little fairy lights in the garden are.

As for the bugs that kill the mood, I have a couple of mosquito repellent lamps from OFF that do a very nice job of keeping them at bay. Either that or invite someone whom the bugs really, really like -- then they'll leave you alone.

How clever! I love your night gardens and your wide variety of blooms!
My husband has a little Robin that helps him with weeding too! I think they are just waiting for yummy worms to turn up!
Have a great weekend in your garden.

I find it incredibly difficult to capture night scenes as I see them. I think I need a lot more practice; though, as you say, I am a gardener, not a photographer (though I enjoy both). I hope you escaped the effects of the major storm system that travelled your way yesterday. (4 tornadoes, they said on the news, in Central Alberta!)
Have a terrific weekend.

I am flaunt-less today. Does that sound risque ? LOL! I not it is not a word.
Your garden looks so magical with the lighting. What a warm feeling it emits. Since I am flaunt-less I will have to look at everyone's flowers. Have a wonderful weekend!

Glenda, I love the shot of your little friend keeping you company in the garden. How cute.

I LOVE the lights in the garden idea...I have so many of them around here and should put them up, but the dang mosquitoes are so vicious this year, at night you can hear them swarming in the air, it's creepy. I've tried everything short of a repellent hot tub to dip in to rid myself of the beasties.

Your garden is so beautiful, and thank you so much for hosting FF even though you are so busy! Hope you have a great weekend.

This is a flaunt with a difference! Great idea to show us how your lovely garden transforms into fairy land at night.

The mosquito's are CRAZY here in BC this year too! Your garden looks fab. Hope it survived the hail storm.

Hi Glenda, Your light show look great even though you struggled to capture it. I used to have a string of little white lights in our old townhouse garden. I just loved the glow they created. One day I hope to add night lighting to my currant garden.... Have a great weekend! Don't let the kids run you to ragged.

Hey Glenda, sorry I didn't link in yesterday, my computer froze everytime I went to your site. weird. it's acting a bit finicky lately, but today it's letting me visit you. Looks like you are enjoying your garden this year. It looks wonderful. Have a great weekend!
