Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers July 15/11

Copy_of_001

Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!!

Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together , snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!

If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?” Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:

If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!

You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!

All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootise Time, or the linky will be deleted. I don’t mean to be harsh, but there have been a lot of people linking in and when the participants graciously click over to their blogs, there is no sign of Fertilizer Friday anywhere to be found. This is not fair to those who do follow the rules, therefore…well you know!

So? what are you waiting for? Get outside, feed, water, snap and post!

DSCN1110

It has been a crazy week in Central Alberta. Storm on top of storm has ravaged this area night after night. This rainbow is a gentle reminder that there is always something to be happy about…no matter how big the storm… If you look closely, it is actually a double rainbow…the one on top is much lighter than the bottom one.

Now…for the rest of my share this week:

DSCN1048

I am pleased to announce that I have a rose bush going to bloom this week in the front yard(in spite of the hail and wind and rain!)

DSCN1050

My bed that I did from seed directly is going like gang busters!!!

DSCN1053

Some pretties that I picked up at a local garden center…these are Proven Winners…

DSCN1054

I moved a few pots around to avoid the rain one evening…and now I sort of like the new arrangement beside the greenhouse…so I am considering leaving them there. What do you think?

DSCN1056

Yep!!! ANOTHER Rose bush is in bloom!!!

DSCN1058

This one is beside the house in the back yard…in the garden room, with the bbq I planted…lol *)

DSCN1060

I have plenty of Nicotana…and it is not doing the usual things that Nicotana does…Last year it grew to about 5 feet tall….this year…check out the size of the leaves!!!

DSCN1102

They are HUGE! That is my flower tower….the Nicotana is the big draw in there…I am stunned at the size of the leaves…it is like a rhubarb plant! hahaha

DSCN1074

Yep…that is them…a little tattered by the hail…but when you are THIS big…you make a great target!

DSCN1066

The leaves might be huge…but the blooms are still as pretty as they usually are!

DSCN1068

My Proven Winner Trial Verbenas are doing awesome…(and one sweet william that snuck in there somehow…lol)

DSCN1070

The Calibrachoa that they sent me are also doing well. I just love my trial plants from Proven Winners.

DSCN1078

I planted some Straw Flowers this year…

DSCN1080

I think I will cut and save some for a decorative touch somewhere.

DSCN1088

….my header bed is coming along nicely…

DSCN1091

I was very worried it would be a flop this year…the hail gave it a huge kicking…but it bounced back. WHEW!

DSCN1092

The final shot…is of my old ladder and some cream cans with scattered pots amongst them. I love this corner of the greenhouse.

Well that is all that is new at my house. I just know you guys are going to dazzle me this week with your shares…I just can’t wait to see!

I sign off with hugs, smiles and hopes that you all have some super fun plans for the weekend ahead! Thanks to all who link in each week , and the comments you leave are just the best! Thanks for stopping by!

*)*)*) to my very special three…Your antics are very entertaining…just when I think it can’t get any funnier, you think of something else! please don’t stop the show…You know who you are!

That header bed is looking fantastic and I can't believe how quickly that directly sown bed has come along! Loads of beautiful flowers everywhere, including those rose, but you just know I love those Strawflowers! My favourite spot is around the ladder and that's looking gorgeous. I also really like the pots along the side of your greenhouse.

WOW I can't believe the size of your Nicotana, mine certainly haven't grown that big this year. Everything else looks picture postcard perfect.

I have the larger Nicotiana also but my leaves are sure not this large. We have been hit pretty bad with the storms also.

Your gardens put me to shame...so beautiful and full of color...I know the work it takes to grow these from seed and then plant them in the garden and in containers...nurture, water and care for them...absolutely gorgeous...I love staring at them...wow are they eye candy...right now my gardens are in a rare drought for my area...much like the spring floods flowers delayed or up and down before you know it...I am savoring the blooms as they appear...Happy FF

I so enjoyed going through your post and looking at the beautiful flowers. The sun and heat is so bad here, I just can't have beautiful flowers like you all do. Hopefully, some day I will be in the NC mountains during the summer, then I will show you some of my prizes. LOL

You have such a green thumb, Tootsie! I really like the plants you moved to the side of the greenhouse. They add a beautiful blast of color there. And the vignette you created with the old ladder is just terrific!

Thanks for hosting. I would love to have you join my party, as well. You can access it from the link below my banner.

I can always count on your photos of your fabulous gardens to brighten my day. Just when I think I may be able to mow, rain clouds roll in. On the + side, weeds are easy to pick! Have a wonderful weekend.

Your garden is lovely as usual Glenda. Those are some huge leaves on the Nicotana. I think your little tricycle planter is so cute. I love the Straw flowers. I always forget to get seeds for them. They make pretty bouquets. Have a wonderful weekend.

Your grass is so green - we are drying out here in southern Ontario and things are getting brown. I love how your gardens are always so tidy.

Like so many others, I wanted to comment on the straw flowers. I need to grow those again. Your garden's looking fabulous. No hail here but huge deluges of rain.

Thanks for hosting the meme!

I just bought a weathered old ladder - I know I am behind the times - and I googled decorating with old ladders. This post came up with the picture of your beautiful garden.

I just have to say how much I love looking at photos of your garden.
