Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers!!! Sept.16/11

Copy_of_001

WELCOME FRIENDS!!!

I am so happy you stopped by!

Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!! Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together, snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!
If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?”
Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:
If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!
You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!
All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootsie Time, or the linky will be deleted.

So....I would like to invite each and every one of you to join in and share your photos...

I want to thank each one of you again for the sweet and supportive comments and the many many emails I have received this past week. I am so touched at the support and concern you all have shown to me. Many of the comments and emails brought tears to my eyes! I hope that I never need to return the gesture…but should the need arise…I’ll be there with bells on!

Fall is here…it has grown cooler over the last few days in Alberta. Some areas have already had frosts…I have been lucky. No frost…but it has been really windy and cold.

I did another pod cast this week with my greenhouse sister Bren. I can’t wait to share it with you all. It has been so crazy and busy here that I haven’t had time to post at all…packing and making sure the house is neat as a pin for the many viewers that want to see it, is no easy task. One good thing about it…is that my laundry is all caught up!!! haha

I have begun to choose some of the plants that I will winter inside this year…there are several that I don’t want to lose quite yet…and some that I want to keep forever, so the greenhouse is filling up fast with pots and containers of flowers and plants.

DSCN1906

I have taken down the swimming pool to make way for plants!!!

DSCN1909

This Geranium is about 9 years old now…I need to keep it for sure!

DSCN1910

The Mandevilla vine never made it out this year…and seems much happier inside…it even has a few blooms on it right now!

DSCN1911

I love my Geraniums…I am going to try to keep a couple more this year.

DSCN1913

Hen and chicks….and a surprise banana plant…I thought the seed was no good!! lol

DSCN1915

Another Geranium..I love the bright orange!!!

DSCN1914

Swedish Ivy always finds a home in my house/ greenhouse ….it makes a great houseplant too!

DSCN1916

There are houseplants sharing space with the garden plants… Time to get the pest control out!!!

DSCN1917

I have my passion vine and a hydrangea…there is another volunteer banana in with the bacopa in one of those pots too that I want to take out.

DSCN1918

The wistertia…is once again giving me a run for my money…not sure what I am doing wrong…but the leaves are not looking so good…I treated for spider mites…so maybe that will help.

DSCN1921

I have two more passion vines and a couple other things I want to winter in here… to bring in. We expect frost this weekend…and that is not a good thing!

The greenhouse is filling up….but as long as I can see the floor…there will be room for one more!

So? what are you waiting for…lets get flaunting!

Wishing you hugs, smiles and a safe

and happy weekend…thanks to all who have taken the time to visit, comment and flaunt with me!

Until Next time…Happy Gardening!

Hi Glenda
I am envious of your large greenhouse to overwinter plants - especially a geranium that old!
Surprises in pots can be nice but not so much if you can't figure out what they are.

I've been having trouble leaving comments on some blogs over the last couple of weeks ... not sure why ... but I saw that my comment didn't show up on your last blog post. Anyway, I was echoing so many other bloggers' thoughts and just had to say how sorry I am to hear you have to leave your lovely house and gorgeous garden. Onwards and upwards! I see you've already started sorting out what you definitely can't leave behind in your garden and I'm sure the collection will grow enormously. All the best of luck with your move and the new chapter in your life.

You're doing great, Glenda. I can hear that from the tone of your post.Yup, it is time to save your favourites and we'll get to see them in your new garden which I have no doubt would be as spectacular as your present one.Time and patience will bring forth abundance.

I'm still so envious (but in a nice way!) of your greenhouse-I had to spend the day yesterday taking cuttings to bring in for the winter....it would have been much nicer to just put things in a greenhouse.
Packing-bleh! But, it's a great way to sort through things. Best of luck Glenda!

Tootise, glad to read that you are moving forward, chin up chest out! I am excitied to see where you choose to live next and the wonders you will do with the house and yard! Your greenhouse is filling up fast, you'll need a moving truck just for plants, :)
Don't know if this will help or not, Wisteria doesn't like to stay wet, it's quite drought tolerant. Mine in the ground yellows if we water it too much, the leaves also yellow and fall off as it goes into it's dormant stage. ((hugs))

So nice to see all the wonderful plants you can winter in the greenhouse. Plants that have been with you year after year are family and are such prized possessions. I have a Christmas Cactus that was my mother-in-laws. She gave it to me and now that she is gone, it reminds me of her.

Stunning, as always! That geranium plant is a treasure, isn't it? :)

Thanks for sharing your lovely plants with us and for hosting this party. I am sorry that you will have to move, but you can build a beautiful home and garden for you and your children again, that can't be taken away!

You must have sent some of your wind and cold here.

Our temps dropped 20 degrees in MS yesterday.

How I love looking at your flowers and plants. I have a Christmas Catus that will be 4 years old this year. I'm so proud of that, usually I buy one every year. I don't know what I'm gping to do when we start going to NC for the summer, I won't be able to transport it. ♥

So glad I don't have to worry about frost yet. Your flowers are looking great! Love the podcast on greenhouses that you did with Bren from BGgarden. Always nice to connect with another greenhouse sister.

Nearly everything I do comes from watching you. I have learned from you never to throw something out if it has potential to become a planter...such as an old barbeque? :)
I'm late...but I am here. I hope that counts. Your passion for gardening show more than anyone I have ever known in my life...and that's a long..long..time!
Hugs!

Glenda, you are doing great! I love your FF and I hope you shall overcome and tide through these trying times with words of support encouragement from fellow bloggers here. Like your geraniums, I too have some plants that I have saved since the day I started a home. Eg my 20 year old ixora plants have followed me from old home to new home.

Glenda, so good to visit again this week. You have the energy of fifty gardeners; packing, hauling plants on top of all your other work you do. And another podcast? Wow.

Doesn't if feel like it's too early for frost? I know in reality it's not, but I just can't get used to the thought of fall, yet. I still remember your greenhouse packed to the rafters with petunias and all your beautiful hanging baskets this spring. Doesn't seem possible it's time to reverse the process already!

Hugs to you, dear lady!

Hi Tootsie! I just read your post about your moving and the reasons why. I am so sorry you have to do this and pray you and the children will be blessed by this new life and home you will be making. Your gardens and beautiful yard are looking wonderful still. I hope you can take a lot of your favorites with you and also hope that the new owners will appreciate all you have done to make that property so beautiful! God bless you and your family. Hugs, Pamela

I hope you are still doing ok, but at least you now know that you have an awful lot of support in the blogsphere, which hopefully help you to remain strong.
