Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers March 15/13

Copy_of_001

WELCOME!

Do you know what day it is???

It’s Friday !!!!

Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol)
It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!!

Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together, snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!

If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?”
Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:

If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like.

The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!

You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!

All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootsie Time, or the linky will be deleted.

So?????....I would like to invite each and every one of you to join in and share your photos...

This has been a hectic week again in my world…greenhouse, kids, work and the lot have me almost pooped right out!   I have been a busy girl!   I ran out of seeds, so I suppose I am finished planting in the greenhouse …for now…:)

I hope today finds you in better spirits than it finds me!   I am a cranky Tootsie today…we are in the midst of a snow storm that is expected to drop about 6 inches of snow on us by morning.  I hope that’s all we get.  I am SO ready for spring….and that snow DOES NOT look like spring to me!  I think Mother Nature needs an attitude adjustment!  haha!

I decided to try to cheer myself up by looking through some of the photos I took at NWFGS last month…and decided to share one last post of some of the things I saw while I was there.

Lets get started:

077

Do you remember me saying once or twice that there is only one plant that intimidates this gardener?   Yes…it is the Orchid.  I am unsure of myself when it comes to this plant.  It could be that they are not a very big plant, it could be that they seem so very delicate, or it could be that they are just so very beautiful that they scare the crap out of me!

I am super proud of the two Orchids that I have managed to keep alive now for three years…and that they are in full bloom right now…but I swore I’d never fall in love with anymore of them…

Well…while we were roaming around the North West Flower and Garden Show in Seattle last month, I was smitten with the HUGE Orchid displays.   I can see now how some people could become addicted to them.   There are hundreds of types of Orchid…one no more gorgeous than the next, just absolutely amazing.  I love how they are all related, but how different they look from each other…and each seem to have their own personality!

080

Look at the gorgeous color on this one…and the sheer size of this bloom…so intricate!  It seems to be almost smiling like as if it knows a secret or two!

079

Masses of beautiful blooms all over each stem…

200

Absolutely perfect!  Sheer Innocence.

201

Brightly lit…soooo Happy!

202

The colors on this one almost look like they were painted on by hand!

205

This one must be the floozie of the bunch.  Pink animal print outfit and all…hahaha

206

It doesn’t get much more cheerful than this one…I wonder how the plant decided to have just that little hint of purple…hmmm.

210

I wonder if these plants are the inspiration for many of our decorating rules…prints and stripes really do go together well!

211

So flamboyant!

212

This one screams SPRING to me.  I love this color combination.   Coral, Young green and soft yellow….yep…that is spring alright!

214

There is such a simple elegance to this one…makes me think of a very classy lady!

217

This one appears to be a bit of a diva!

219

I love the richness of the orange in this one…It was hard to get a good shot of this bloom…it’s very playful though!

220

This one is a show off…look at the ruffles and swirls all over the petals!   I wish I could have seen just one on it’s own…it seems to have a mind of it’s own the way the blooms have formed!

223

Crisp, bright yellow with just a few brown speckles…very pristine indeed!

224

This one appears to be almost like a hippy…all tye dyed looking!   Seems bright enough to be the life of the party!

225

I don’t even know what to say about this one…it is just so breath taking!  What a gorgeous color combination!

226

Another great big smile!

227

I love how this one looks like it is playing dress up! It made me think of long purple dresses flowing in the wind…

229

There is something about this one…almost hypnotic the way the petals are spread out and the bottom is so soft and flowing…

231

It didn’t really like to be photographed either.   I could go on and on…

204
There were literally hundreds of different Orchids to see in these displays….and I had only so much time…I do hope you enjoyed seeing the most spectacular of the bunch…
I will most likely never have huge collections of Orchids…but I do respect those who do!  I think I am also safe in saying I envy them a little bit…as you are guaranteed a very beautiful display each and every time you coax them into bloom!

Well….this brings us to the end of my flaunt for this week…and YOU know what that means!!!
That means…I can’t wait to see what you have!

Well…what are you waiting for???

GO!!!

Get your flaunt on!!!

I wish all of you hugs and smiles, and safe and happy weekend plans!

Thank you all so much for dropping in today, and to those that faithfully link in to this party…and who are patient while waiting for me to FINALLY visit you…it seems there are not enough hours in a day anymore...THANK YOU!

Until Next Time... Happy Gardening!

These orchid photos you share here are spectacular and the variety is amazing. Such beauty, from floosie or hippie to princess; all are lovely. Now you remind me to feed my 3 neglected outdoor orchids today.

So sorry to hear you're not in the best of moods today, but I can understand that with the prediction of even more snow on the way. Where is your Spring?

Fantastic Orchids! I'm left drooling, which is not a pretty sight.

Love the warm tropical flowers to warm up my day as we just had snow very cold and windy weather...my flowers are now covered again.

Gorgeous. I have always been a little intimidated by orchids but the sure are beautiful and so much personality. Spring is in full bloom in Southern California and the garden is really coming to life. Thanks for hosting a place to share it all.

Those orchids are just stunning! I have never tried to grow one. I don't do houseplants, as I have a cat who won't leave plants and cut flowers alone!

Hope your snow days are almost over. We've been very lucky this year & not received much snow. I don't know much about orchids, but those in your pics are beautiful! Thanks for hosting.

Good morning! Those are some gorgeous orchids. I have never tried to grow them. I know you are ready for the white stuff to be gone and some green to be revealed. I am getting my blog going again and I will be joining the flaunt - maybe next week. Things are breaking out here along the gulf coast of Alabama. Planting my seeds this weekend and waiting on a plant shipment. Have a nice weekend.

Good morning! Orchids are one thing I CANNOT grow! I hate that they look so gorgeous in the grocery stores and they have them next to the cash registers. Stand there long enough and you'll buy one...or worse yet someone will buy you one and then I kill it. argggg!

Hope you are doing better and can get some rest thig weekend. Sorry I haven't been making it in. Had out of state company, then got sick, by that time all I wanted to do was stay in bed...even after I felt better. His 30 days ends this weekend and no he never even made an attempt to get his crap. I think I just feel claustrophobic..the garage has mount ex in it, things that should go in there, end up in the house. My sister and oldest son and wife are purging unwanteds...they all come here to see if I can use any. Just overwhelmed and out of space. And stil in limbo. I've decided I want a trial. We'll see what happens between now and Aug. Gosh that sems so far away.
Trying to take one day at a time and not stress.
Hope you are doing well. Take care and have a super weekend..I'm going to try. My therapist gave me an order to take $5 and go garage saling! Need to follow Drs orders! LOL
*hugs*deb

The orchid photos you took are spectacular! The first and only orchid I have ever Had I killed, so I don't trust my luck with them! My brother seems to have a knack for them he has two - doesn't do anything but water occasionally and they are both in bloom again and again!
