My Mother In Law is hosting Christmas this year. She doesn't set a fancy table...but she does appreciate all the annual Christmas decor that happens.
Here's another one!
I think I like the plaid one here the best...but they are all sooooo pretty.
Yea...this is about as fancy as I am getting today! lol.....Tablescaping is a foreign language to this Tootsie....and yes Justine.....I say it "TOOT-SEE" Not TUT-sie! lol
I generally make an ornament or in some cases sets of ornaments for each and every person in our lives...this year, I had decided not to do this.
Now I have been doing this annual gift for all of our friends and family for almost 15 years! Never missed a year...even when I had a 3 week old baby for Christmas! I always come up with a special something out of my imagination that brings a little cheer to my loved one's homes. I almost dropped the ball....BUT....Betty had her big boots on one day...and gave me that swift kick that I needed, and then Jill got my creative juices flowing....and the guilt of letting my tradition go....got to me.
This is what I came up with! Take a look.
Do you see all those little balls on the beveled mirrors? What am I saying...OF COURSE YOU DO! Those are place markers for the Christmas dinner table! Wanna see more?Okay...you twisted my arm.... Let's get a little closer....
Okay...this one is a little blurry...but it is one of the ribbon types I used.I think I like the plaid one here the best...but they are all sooooo pretty.
Now...as I spent very little cash and about 2 hours to make these....I was thinking of all of you blog land table scapers! These little babies are meant to sit in the middle of each plate (of course before the food hits them) and add a little bling to the fully set table!

Just thought I would share them with you...I made 21. Each person will get to take home theirs.
What's that? You want to know how I got the round balls to sit on the mirrors? VELCRO!
Here is my supplies list:
Can you believe that those glass balls cost me $3 for 15? The Velcro...was $3 for 15....The ribbon, mirror and "pick" are each $1 from the dollar store! So...In total each one...cost me less than $3 to make! No glue...no long drawn out process just pop the top off the ball and get busy! It took longer to remove that nasty sticker from the mirror than it did to make the whole thing! Yes...I was mumbling bad words under my breath as I did 21 mirrors...Here are the pics to show you how: take the top off the ball...and stick the soft part of the Velcro on the bottom of it!
see the top off?
bend the wire of the stem of your chosen "pick" up so it can fill the hole in the ball and not be too long...
Stick it into the hole...and then tie your ribbon on...cut to desired size and primp!

Put the rough side of the Velcro on the mirror...stick it on...and you are done!
Could it get any easier than that?
Now...I have to go clean up the mess I made...see ya!

I just popped by to say hi and saw your little decorations. Those are too cute!!! Well, maybe 'nice' is a better word. Wonderful? That too.
Thanks for putting the insturcions and cost on there too.
Not sure our Dollar Store has those mirrors, but then i have never looked for them either. Guess you know what I'll be doing as soon as the roads are cleared from the snow.
Blessings on your day,
Barbara Jean =0)
I will try and fancy up my table for any after Christmas guests, but they look like wonderful ideas to go with our table gifts we do at Christmas.
Thanks for the great idea!!!!

Your August garden is outstanding. I need you to come to my house and fix mine.
That's why my family doesn't get things like that.....but what they don't know won't hurt them.
I am having a little dinner party again for a few girlfriends and am going out to try and find some supplies in my little town to make these wonderful place markers! Wish you could come!
