Fertilizer Friday/Flaunt Your Flowers Oct 9/09

Welcome to the first edition of the Fall/Winter version of Fertilizer Friday!
Those of us who are fortunate enough to share our outside yard and gardens can continue to Flaunt the beauty of their outdoor spaces....the rest of us will share our houseplants and indoor gardening endeavors!
So...without further adieu...feed what you have...and Flaunt away!
I am very excited to share a few photos of what is going in INSIDE for me this week!
Since my outdoor spaces are looking like this today...
We will be looking at what is going on inside the greenhouse!
I saved the Mandevilla...pulled the Lobelia and dead Petunias....left it in the garage for a week...and was very delighted to see that she persevered through the darkness....and is giving me a show like I have waited all summer long to see!!!
Oh I am so happy that it bloomed...and has LOTS of buds!!
They are opening like crazy the last two days in the greenhouse!
My 6+ year old Geranium...is in full bloom AGAIN...(needs some deadheading already)
My orange rose bush (not hardy) that I bought for blooms for the cure....is blooming again...
One lone pot of Begonia that I started from seed...
I saved a silver Swedish Ivy...and it is blooming now too....
The Banana from seed is getting really big now...Maybe a larger pot is in order...
A variegated wandering jew...(still hate that name) is getting full and thick and healthy....
The purple bean vine is thriving...I plan to try to grow her up a trellis this winter...
Oh how pretty it smells!
The peace lily is growing like crazy all of a sudden....and has blooms again...
Look at how pretty the details are!
Rubber trees (ficus) are doing their thing again! I love the color contrast!
My Christmas/Thanksgiving/Easter Cactus...(it blooms when ever it wants last was in June) is gaining momentum again...
And finally....the purple Swedish Ivy. It is about two feet around and just as long...I started it from a cutting I got at my kid's school about 5 years ago...it's getting bigger every week!
Now...what's going on in your home and garden?
Please accept this invitation to share what you have going on...I love to look!
If this is the first time you have heard about this meme...click the first photo at the top to get to the details of what you need to do...or look in the menu bar at the top of the page, to get to the nitty gritty!
Wishing you all a safe and happy weekend with love and warmth!!!
Now...if you will excuse me...I have some gardens to tour, and bloggers to stalk! 8-)

Is that snow?? I can't believe it. I know it is sad for you to lose plants, but you still have beautiful blooms inside and in the green house.

I was feeling sorry for you with your snowy yard, until I saw what you have going on in the greenhouse. I know you enjoy extending your growing season with the greenhouse. Take care, Sally

Well, after all it is Fertilizer Friday and I wondered what type of product you had applied to your lawn and then realized, it is snow! And snow adds nitrogen.

Tootsie, I can't decide if you're unlucky to have such a short growing season or lucky to have a greenhouse...hhhmmm may be a little of both...
I'd like to see what you could do with our long southern growing season, I think I'm just plain in awe of your gardening expertise...

I'm so jealous of your greenhouse! Your indoor plants are doing really well. I haven't taken my houseplants in yet but will it do this weekend. I wish I had saved some annuals but I pulled them all out... well ya live and learn I guess. -Jackie

Wow what lovely plants!!! I wish I had a greenhouse like yours. You are so lucky! I guess you really do need one though with the cold there or your plants wouldn't make it. It does freeze here too. Just not as much. One day I hope to have a greenhouse to get an early start on seedlings!!!!!

Wow!
Wondering which one to comment and which one to leave :)
Your greenhouse is a rescue home of sorts. I loved the easter cacti and swedish ivy. All of them are lovely. Happy weekend to you too.

Oh my goodness! I thought winter was sneaking in on us already and there you are with snow. Luckily your green house keeps some of summer alive for you. I think I may need one of those. Glad to see you were able to save so much. Your gardens look good even when they are white. Have a great friday!

Okay, I charged the camera, went out to lunch & shopping with Bridget & forgot to take pictures when I got home for a post. That's my excuse & I'm sticking with it! AND tomorrow's another day - I'll try to take pumpkin pictures - but they're faux...

I can't believe the snow! Thank goodness for your green house - at least you still have some amazing plants. ☺ diane

I can't wait to watch what you grow during the winter. That greenhouse must be so nice to be able to see flowers in when you've already had snow. I couldn't believe how many planting trays I saw stacked in there behind the banana plant. I'll be back in the morning to link up.

Actually Tootsie, your yard looks so pretty with the dusting of snow. I am so glad you have your greenhouse (envious here) to enjoy some flowers longer...do you think any of them will last the entire winter?

My JAW JUST DROPPED ' OHHHH NO SNOW!" at the sight of your first images today. OUCH... so Not ready for snow. We are suppose to be dropping well below freezing tomorrow night. Today I am getting out in that cold rain of Autumn and digging up some Lantana I want to try keeping in my greenhouse. We have the structure complete and I am going to go find an electric heater today to keep things warm until the gas furnace is installed. I have SOOO MANY QUESIONS FOR YOU concerning the greenhouse. Maybe I will pick your brain later if you don't mind!

I shared your link with my friends over in BGgarden. THANK YOU for keeping this Fertilize Friday going strong. You are truly inspirational!

ENJOY the day... snow and all!

I can't believe you have snow already!!! Wow! I am not looking forward to that although I hear we will be having an early winter. I am trying to get a greenhouse built before the snow flies. All your pretties look real happy in your greenhouse. Green with envy in Upstate NY. :)

Your peace lily looks so beautiful with the backdrop of snow behind it. All your plants/flowers look so lovely. Trying to decide whether to save my puddin touch geranium, quickly running out of time to decide before nature decides for me. It did come back and was beautiful for the summer.
Have a great weekend.

Snow already! Where do you live? How did you know to get all those plants into your greenhouse this week? Had there been a prediction of snow or was this a surprize? Will you be doing any more tuitorial on gathering seeds? That sure helped me be more observant of what the seed pods look like. You should make a CD and sell it. You're good!
I guess we can stop fertilizing now. I've pulled out most of my container plants because they had become some scraggly looking. Planted some BES plants that my daughter shared with me. I didn't expect those, just the seeds. Hope they survive. We need rain here so bad. The weathermen keep predicting it but it never comes.

OMG, you've got snow on the ground and I'm sitting outside melting into my chair! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Send me some snow. Or at least cool air. And while you're at it send me the ability to keep just one plant alive!

Justine :o )

Is that really snow! I thought it was fertilizer at first!! LOL
Your plants are beautiful. My daughter sat at my computer and your blog was up because I must have walked away when I was about to read your post and she loved your blog and your saying on the top of your blog. She is 18 and comments on nothing that I do, and I was happy she liked it!

Hi Tootsie,
Yes, you did get snow, too. It looks pretty in the photos. Your blooms in the greenhouse are prettier, though. I am impressed at all the cool plants you started from seed or cuttings.
