In light of the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday coming upon us, I thought I would share a recipe that I do enjoy sharing!
Those who know me know I do not enjoy cooking. It is not that I can't do it, I just hate it. I do however enjoy cooking the big meals for the grand holiday meals.
This one caught my eye and made me smile just thinking of it.
enjoy.
Here is a chicken recipe that also includes the use of popcorn as a stuffing - imagine that. When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who just are not sure how to tell when poultry is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out.
Give this a try.
BAKED STUFFED CHICKEN
6-7 lb. chicken
1 cup melted butter
1 cup stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is good.)
1 cup uncooked popcorn ( ORVILLE REDENBACHER IS LOW FAT)
Salt/pepper to taste
Salt/pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Brush chicken well with melted butter, salt, and pepper.
Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn.
Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven.Listen for the popping sounds.
When the chicken's ass blows the oven door open and the chicken flies across the room, it's done.
When the chicken's ass blows the oven door open and the chicken flies across the room, it's done.
And, you thought I couldn't cook.........
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL MY CANADIAN FOLLOWERS!

Yes, I have to dig those Dahlias up. Some people don't but ya take a chance on losing them cause they don't like all of the rain we get! They rot!!!
Have a great Thanksgiving and don't destroy your kitchen with that recipe!!!
LOL LOL you are too funny, Tootsie! I was taking you seriously for a minute there! Happy Thanksgiving to you and to all of our Canadian friends on Monday!!! Enjoy this time with your family! Hugs...Debbie

Happy thanksgiving! This sounds fantastic.
I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who feels exactly the same way about cooking as me! I'd rather do hard labor in the yard than cook. I love this recipe :) I was taking it very seriously until I read about the chicken blowing the door open. I love it!
Happy Thanksgiving!
I was so reading this as serious....then...oh my! lol! oh my goodness! great recipe!
ROFLMAO! You got me! I very intent on reading all the instructions - cooking is not one of my favorite things to do - & then BAM! Good one Toots!
Happy Thanksgiving!
(Oh btw, when is it? said the dumb California lady.)
Dear Betty Crocker -
Obviously cooking is not one of my passions either as I sure didn't list it that way on my blog. But I gotta tell you girlfriend -- I've made that recipe!!!!!!!! It turned out just like it said and it was real tasty. I didn't like the part where I had to wipe chicken grease off the wall tho! Maybe you have a cleaning tip for that little problem?
I've been thinking about the wool garden suggestion you had and wondering about making a trade. Hmmmm. I know! I'll send you my Wool Garden, postage paid and you can send me your greenhouse. Postage paid. Deal?
It snowed last night - naughty weather and it's still on the ground but slowly disappearing. I won't tell you what a mess it made for harvest. My hubs has been in the field since Midnight last night and still there now at 6 p.m. the next day. I want the guys to get some rest now but they never listen to me.
I still had flowers blooming but they'll be turning a lovely shade of black now.
Happy Thanksgiving - whenever it is. (sorry I don't know that!)
hay hay T.
I cook after my own heart! I take spells with cooking, mostly just easy stuff! My rule of thumb? if it has more than 5 ingredients, it probably aint a good recipe for me... I think i had to help out to much as a teenager, helping cook for 9 most nights. I wanted to be outside at Supper time, not indoors!!!!!
seeya, gotta love that chicken recipe!!
lynn
the best is yet to come!!!
I was really thinking it was a recipe, you totally had me!!! Happy Saturday Sharefest!!!
Happy Saturday Sharefest!
What a mental image... Wait for the chicken to fly across the room! Haha! :D
Oh, and I must say I love the opening sentences on your blog... that life is not about surviving the storm but learning how to dance in the rain! Nice! I heard my pastor just use that yesterday in a wedding solemnization! :)
HAPPY
THANKSGIVING
TO
YOU
TOOTSIE...
I thought your were serious too!!
Enjoy the holiday.
Warmly,
Deb :)
I saw your name on another blog and with a name like Tootsie I had to come and visit. I'm so glad I did. I love your garden photos on the other blog and the humor on the other one also. If it's funny I love it, sugar! And if you have gorgeous photos I love it also, sweet chick! Glad I found you and I've added you to my Google Reader. Nice meeting you, Toots!
xoxo,
Connie
:-) <-------Me laughing uproariously....
Too funny! Thanks for a good laugh.
You made me laugh out loud. I was sitting here thinking I H-A-V-E
N-E-V-E-R heard of stuffing popcorn in a turkey's cavity, and then I read the rest...Have a happy Canadian Thanksgiving & thanks for the laugh. ;O)
P.S. Meant chicken...not turkey!
Oh you, you had me going too LOL!! I was like popcorn?? What is she gonna do with popcorn??
Happy Thanksgiving crazy woman. Have a great rest of the weekend.
I was quite interested in a chicken recipe stuffed with popcorn--until I read the whole thing. hilarious. I was going to offer you my legitimate popcorn salad recipe (not mine, but in my church cookbook. It's a for real recipe--nobody's A pops off.) Its very tasty--I haven't made it , but tasted it at a church pot luck. Nice to see you following my other blog. :o)
Happy thanksgiving!
Your recipe is yum. I'm going to find out an alternative to
Pepperidge Farm and let you know how it turned out.
Sounds like you got all of us so far!!
I thought, I have never heard of using popcorn as a stuffing. So funny, thanks for sharing.
Ya know, I've seen this before, yet you still got me with it. I was thinking, how the hell do you get popcorn to pop inside a chicken? You penis!
Justine :o )
You got me, I thought this was going to be a real recipe! I can cook too but I don't enjoy it anymore. In fact, rarely do I do more than tolerate it. The big family dinners are the worst for me cooking too. I just can't find joy in the cooking but I do find great joy in being with my kids!
LOL!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
Thanks for the giggles, Tootsie! Happy Turkey to you!
This is one of my all time favorite recipes...its a no fail recipe! I had no idea it was Thanksgiving there! When is Halloween???????
O.k., you got me. And here I was going to suggest that you use the little pop-up turkey thing that I use! I love that thing!
Thank goodness, someone else who's not keen on cooking. I thought I was the only one in blog land! You know what, I was reading the reciped thinking well...this sounds like a pretty normal recipe to me but how's the popcorn going to work - it must be some kind of weird thing they do in Canada...until I got to the end realised it was a joke!!
Happy Thanksgiving
Susie X
