Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers Nov 6/09

Fertilizer Friday is the day when gardeners from all over the world join in and share the blooms of their labors!
If you are not familiar with the winter rules here they are... For the winter months ( at least in my area) we will be sharing our indoor gardens...such as houseplants or greenhouse items...OR our favorite photos of gardens from seasons past...OR... if you are in another area that is experiencing spring or summer like conditions ...and you still have things growing...cause you are lucky to have a great gardening climate...Share your current gardens!
I hope you will take me up on the invite to share WHATEVER IT IS...."ugly" is not a word in this meme...show it...ask questions...just join in! Even one plant is better than none!
In spite of it being November here, we don't have anymore snow on the ground. It melted off and we are sitting like ducks waiting for the first huge dump of winter to get us. I am sharing a few things that are thriving inside my home and greenhouse this week.
My Jade is sure taking her time with this blooming thing. It feels like forever...but there is a little progress this week in the flower dept...
They are starting to open a little bit each day.
They are so delicate and pretty looking...
My oldest Christmas Cactus is forming a few buds.
I love it when this one blooms....I get blooms about 4 times a year on this one.
I have some new growth and a couple of buds forming on my Orange Rose. I thought I added a full body photo...but must have missed it. Oh well....there's always next week.
The Mandevilla vine is thriving with a capital T! The arms that it is sending out are just super long...it seems to like it inside.
Loads of buds on it too.
My Nico Swedish Ivy is Huge. It measures almost 3 feet across.
It is in bloom too. I have no idea where I will put it inside my house when I have to get ready to do the spring seed plant....
My small banana plant is doing well. Getting lots of new leaves.
It is even sprouting some babies.
The sad little Begonia that I brought in from the garden is thanking me with some new blooms. They are light pink, but the sunlight sort of makes the camera think they are white.
I have never had such a happy Peace Lily in my life! It just keeps sending new blooms up.
I love to look at them.
I have three small Christmas Cacti that I have never shared. I originally picked them up to put into one larger pot...but as you can see by the ugly foil, I have not done that yet...The pink one is budding up like crazy...
So is the soft pink one...
And since I have never seen this one bloom before...I am not sure if it will be pink or white. I guess we will soon find out! The three of them will be transplanted very soon to make a nice pot of colorful blooms. I just need to get some fresh potting soil.
Now...if you have not already linked in...please do. I can't wait to see what leafy beauties you are caring for!

Your flowers look great! I love that mandevilla vine. I brought mine in also and it too is sending up those long shoots. Yours looks alot more chipper than mine does. Thanks for a cheerful place to visit on a dreary Thursday. Have a great weekend!
Hi Tootsie,
I don't remember if I've seen jade in bloom. Those are sweet little flowers! I enjoyed your other plants and blooms, too.

Last week you invited me to link to your blog. I didn't get it done, but did this week. Thanks!

Thank you for sharing. I write a bi-weekly plant-related article for our local paper. So this week it was relating to fertilizing. To reinforce that I was giving accurate information, I wanted to do some research. I looked in my Mom's plant books, and in one of the books on houseplants it shows some wonderful groupings. That book states that when plants are grouped together, they do better than the same plants placed separately. I'm intrigued, and the groupings are so pretty. What I'm trying to say in this long-winded way, is that maybe I could be tempted into trying some houseplants (other than my indestructible jade and mother-in-law's tongue).
Your plants are thriving, Tootsie!! I love the Jade plant the most. I told you I was given one that was over ten years old and huge. And it slowly died from the moment I got it. I did everything by the book. Can you give me any advice. I'd love to get another.

Have a great evening! :-)

xoxo

Thanks for posting new photos of the Jade plant - lovely. I think I'm liking the Christmas Cactus - I saw that at the Garden Centre the other day and was not sure. The Peace Lily is always lovely when the blooms arrive - they are such neat plants aren't they!

Fabulous, thanks for sharing your photos. Have a nice weekend.

Ok...I can't grow a Mandevella like that in zone 8b!!! I hope to have a greenhouse within the next month. It won't be as big as yours...but its a start!
You're plants are thriving beautifully! The swedish ivy is huge & the peace lily is so pretty. I have a black thumb when it comes to peach lilies... ☺

Seeing all your great looking plants make me agree that fertilizing is indeed very good thing to do. If I can get a jade plant to flower, that will be my greatest achievement. Cheers!
Your flowers are gorgeous! Plants like people certainly reflect the love and attention shown them..don't they? Tootsie..you are amazing! Just amazing! :)

I could stay in your greenhouse for days!! I didn't participate this week, had to vent a little instead....I have tons blooming too..
You have so many healthy looking plants. That Swedish ivy sounds huge. I love the Banana plant, I would love to try one of those. Your begonias reminded me I need to go bring a couple of mine inside. I remember my mom having them as indoor plants.

Now that's a keen gardener! I like that you have a glass house and can beat the cold with those plants you have in this post that I know would not survive the cold weather outside here, and it gets colder where you are. Some of the names you use are different to the ones I know those plants as. The Christmas cactus I know as a zygocactus.I have one of those succulent thingies that you are waiting to flower too.And I wouldn't even bother trying a mandevilla in this area because it wouldn't last the winter. The swedish Ivy I know as a plectranthus.

Everything looks so pretty. It is nice to be able to come and look at yours. I had a Thanksgiving cactus that I had had for years but I lost it this year, now that really made me sad. Guess I will just have to look at your cactus.

You most certainly would NOT like to see the blooms of my labor! Mine are a mess! Yours on the other hand are awesome. No wonder you love to look at them!
