Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers April 23/10

Copy_of_001

Okay!!! It’s Friday again already and that means it’s time to flaunt our flowers, gardens and all things green!

Now if you are not familiar with the rules of this little party…here they are;

If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!

You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!

Your post must include the logo above and a link to Tootise Time, or the linky will be deleted. I don’t mean to be harsh, but there have been a lot of people linking in and when the participants graciously click over to their blogs, there is no sign of Fertilizer Friday anywhere to be found. This is not fair to those who do follow the rules, therefore…well you know!

So? what are you waiting for? Get outside, feed, water, snap and post!

This week has been a warm one here in central Alberta Canada, and the greenhouse has been HOT! Things are doing VERY well…lets take a look:001

Just a couple of weeks ago, they were all so small that the pots looked HUGE…but now…

005

Its like the Flower Fairy showed up!006

Yep! She sure did!!!

008

The Marigolds are like a tiny forest with pretty yellow puffs!

010

I will be lowering the second row of pots tomorrow…so things have room to grow!!!

011

Portulaca is growing like a weed!

012

Things are finally feeling like a jungle!!! I love the feeling of jungle…

014

Grammie “B”s flowers are taking up valuable space….hint hint…might have to give them a bit of a trim…or she could just plant them…or something….hint hint…*)

015

Last week everyone was posting beautiful Wisteria…so I searched high and low for one for me! LOOK!!! now…I need YOUR help…will I be able to grow it in the greenhouse??? There is one in the yard already for the last 4 years…and it is only 1/2 size….not playin games here…I want what you guys posted!!! and I want it NOW!

Wanna see what’s happening today out in the yard?

017

Yesterday these were so tight that they didn’t show much green…but today the Lilac is getting ready to burst!!!

018

And Tootsie does the dance of Joy!!!

019

I love the very first day when there is a hint of green in the horizon…the hedge leaves are popping open..! woo hoo!!

020

Columbines are well on their way…some of these are going to Grammie “B”s and to Niffers house very soon…they don’t get a say…I decide the gardening needs around here…hahaha! Niffer is one of my bestest friends…and she has decided to spruce up her yard…and I get to be the boss!!!

021

I’m thinkin some Monkshood will be traveling across town to Niffer’s house too…hey…she said I can do whatever I want…and I will! Can’t wait to show you what’s planned…it will be sensational when it’s done!

022

The leaves on the ornamental apple are doing well…open quite a bit! I am impressed at the progress in the front yard especially since it is not as warm as the back…

Everything is growing…popping out of the ground…and springing to life! It is a great feeling to go outside and see all the new growth…well almost all of it…

023

This…I could do without…I’m already weeding and I haven’t even planted yet!

Oh well…it’s better than winter!

Now…it’s your turn…what’s growing in your gardens? I can’t wait to see…hit the linky, leave me a comment…and I will meet you there!

Tootsie!

WOW! Isn't it amazing how fast everything is growing!! Maybe it was BILBO !! lol .... You have a very fertile mind, haha .... you come up with some amazing stories. You sure had me laughing with Bilbos antics. On to wisteria; I LOVE ! it, but I have had a difficult time with it. I had one called Texas Blue?? for over 10 years now . Never bloomed! grew like crazy, that was it! Got fed up yanked it out, "IT'S BACK!!" I can't get rid of the thing, you also have to watch its roots, nasty!!(keep it away from your house foundation, if there are any small cracks it will find its way thru !! ) I did find a smaller variety called "Amethyst Falls" that one has been great.Flowers every year, and hasn't gotten out of hand ..... yet. Well good luck on your wisteria venture, that was my 2 cents for what it was worth :) ..... hahaha
Have a great weekend!

The plants look WONDERFUL!!!! Do yo have the Wyisteria growing as a bush or a trellas? When they do the bush here they trim is .Mine ,I will trim a little this year. Mine is 5 years old. I didn't think it would ever get na lot of blooms on it. This year it did. I have Iris in bloom. LOL Kathy

Tootsie...great to be back here with all my gardening buddies!!! Wisteria in NW Tenn is practically indestructible...My Mom had several and we mow them down every week in the summer and they just keep on coming back...so...trim away if you want it to spread would be my suggestion...they form a tremendous root system that is almost impossible to kill ...beautiful but invasive!!!

Hi Tootsie,
I keep commenting how your greenhouse looks like a place of business. Is it? Things look awesome in there! Isn't it exciting to see green outside? Have fun at Grandma B's and your friend's places.

I was surprised to see I'm #23, and it's only 7:15 a.m.

Good morning Tootsie. I am jealous that you have blooms already. Everything is coming along there. The greenhouse is so full and lush. Look at the blooms on the geraniums and marigolds. I am dealing with the same weeds - but weeds will always be a part of a gardeners life. Have a good weekend.

Denise said...

WOw, things are really growing fast. When will you plant all these beautiful flowers in your garden... assuming that's what you will do with them? They are gorgeous, makes me want to buy a big green house and try growing my own ;-)

Catherine@AGardenerinProgress said...

Your Lilac is growing so fast, before you know it you'll be smelling those flowers.

Tootsie everything is really coming to life at your place. I can't believe the greenhouse - it's loaded. My sentiments exactly what you said about the Wisteria. I have a small one too. ;-)

Lona said...

Wow just look how much your flowers have grown in a week. Girl what kind of fertilizer do you use. I thought you had it mixed up in your tub of water???
Why don't you keep your wisteria trimmed up as a tree form that way you could keep it in your green house.
I planted two Monkshood this spring because I loved your and one has died already. I am bummed out.The other one does not look to healthy either. I may end up getting them both replaced. Poor little things. LOL!
Happy FF. Lona

Hi Tootsie,

I have never had much luck with Wisteria in zone 5, but you might do well with it in the greenhouse.

You really should be in the business with the expertise you have putting out those annuals.

What you can do in that green house is absolutely amazing Tootsie.
Is that ornamental Apple still decorated with dry fruit from last year or are those flowers. I haven't seen one of those before.Cool.
I have the same weed here, I wonder where they came from originally.

Wow do I ever need your touch right now....Our yard needs so much work....You do such a wonderful job....

Tootsie...I am in awe of what you do! It's just amazing to me. I always picture you out in the country with endless space around you..and yet I see in photo's that other homes are nearby just as they are where I live. Probably a much nicer area though! :) My neighborhood is 50 some years old and hasn't been taken good care of. Our home is by far the nicest on on the entire street. It's sad.
Anyway...I have nothing to show but I have just come to look at your..and wish!! You are simply an amazing woman!!
Hugs,
Mona

p.s. I visited the Grand Canyon once..came to the mouth of it by boating up the River. Back under the overhanding rocks was the most lovely Colombine and my friend broke off a chunk with a rock as it grew right out of the side of the cliff's. I took it home very careful in wet paper..and potted it and it grew for awhile and I loved that plant. Then one day it began to die and there was nothing I could do to save it. What did I do wrong. Is there a secret to growing it? Did I lose it because it was wild? Heat of California?
:(
I know nothing about Wisteria except it is beautiful. I am no help to you at all.

Next time. Next time! In the interim, I just want you to know that I'm flaunting my flora here at my home. I got back in from being out of town nd my rose bushes were overloaded with fragrant, lovely blooms! I was in heaven, mainly because I don't have the natural green thumb you do. Have a nice weekend, -s

Tootsie, What lucky people to have you come and plant their gardens. Your greenhouse plants are just beautiful, all that green, You really have a special gift. My mother-in-law is always telling me I need her green thumb, I informed her I have a friend whose thumb is greener than hers. I think I offended her but thats OK. Shes not as perfect as she thinks she is. LOL
Have a great week. Patricia

I'm sooo thrilled to find your blog and look forward to seeing everyone's pretties!! I love to work in my yard and flowers in the summertime. I'm hoping that the hard economy here this year won't prevent me from doing so this year. If it does, I'll just come here and look at everyone elses.

Hey Tootie, It has been a while since I was here, but will try to put something together for next week. Have a good one.

Now for the real question??? Does it cost a fortune to operate a greenhouse like that? I know I'm not being polite, but I want you to tell me that anyone can do it... even on a shoestring budget lol
