Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers August 27/10

Copy_of_001

Hello Bloggers/ Gardeners/ Friends!!!! It’s Friday again already and that means it’s time to flaunt our flowers, gardens and all things green!

Now if you are not familiar with the rules of this little party…here they are;

If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!

You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!

Your post must include the logo above and a link to Tootise Time, or the linky will be deleted. I don’t mean to be harsh, but there have been a lot of people linking in and when the participants graciously click over to their blogs, there is no sign of Fertilizer Friday anywhere to be found. This is not fair to those who do follow the rules, therefore…well you know!

So? what are you waiting for? Get outside, feed, water, snap and post!

This week I am sharing more of the same…only bigger plants…lets take a look…

001

My Hydrangea bed….I shared the huge blooms a few weeks back…but…

002

it got bigger!!! almost the same size as my son’s pro-size basketball!!! I love it!!! IT IS A MIRACLE FOR ME!!! I usually kill Hydrangea within days of owning them…hahaha (yea me!)

006

My front yard. The new wavy bed along the sidewalk is FULL. The Cottoneaster plants are still there…and growing nicely…you just can’t see them for all the other stuff! (please ignore the weeds in there-been a busy hockey mom this week)

012

This is the first bed I ever used perennials in…made it last summer. It is filling in nicely…I am considering pulling the annuals that I added for fillers out.

010

A little closer view of the bed…

011

…and a spotlight on these cute little blooms…I love it.

013

My Engleman’s Ivy is in need of some trimming…it has gone mental this year!!! You can barely fit up the steps! I LOVE IT!!!!

021

I just love how the Crystal Palace Lobelia POPs in the garden…I wish I had a camera (or the skills ) to capture the true effect of the color…

026

Sweet Potato vine in the metal purse is doing nicely!

057

West side of the back yard…the two beds against the fence have been “thinned” which means Tootsie got ticked at the columbine…and ripped it out…It was looking awful…so half of each bed (at the back) is empty! But ya can’t tell from here…so it’s all good! haha

034

little closer look at the newest area…the table and chairs…I think I am going to “grout” this in with sand this fall…maybenoya I will…Oh I just can’t decide…! Haven’t decided for sure yet! hows that for undecided gardening??? haha

050

My header bed. I am a little disappointed in this bed this year. I just need to suck it up and plant the same things I did that year that I got the most beautiful photo, that I use as my header shot. I always try to “top” myself….and that photo is a hard act to follow. This looks pretty tho…

072

…I like to look at it every time I go to the back door…or sit in the sunroom. It is a great shape too…

052

My barn-board birdhouse bench…very full…that big Dahlia on the right…is supposed to be a dinner plate dahlia….I am really pissed oops I mean peaved that I got ripped off…not one of the dinner plate dahlia’s have produced a bloom bigger than 5 inches…what a rip off!!!

055

Rudbeckia Chocolate Orange I love these blooms…except that they bloom when summer is almost over…and FALL has started to move in…Yes Gardeners…I SAID THE 'F’ WORD!!!

068

My bed filled with “olden junk” and rocks is FULL. I might even have to thin it a little…hahaha (yea me!)

064

The shade beds are doing okay…except for the slugs that are kicking the crap out of the hostas. I hate them!!! (ignore the weeds in here too)

049

And a final shot…of my yard from the back gate. I wish you could all come visit…as you can see…there’s lots of room for you all! haha. Until then, I’ll just keep enjoying the friends and family that stop by all the time!

Well---that’s a few of the 80+ photos I took for this post today…haha. I figure you need to look at some of the other fantastic gardens from all over the world that link in to Fertilizer Fridays!

Until next time…Thank you to all of the gardeners that link in to Fertilizer Fridays. I love to visit your gardens! Big hugs and smiles to those who just choose to visit and comment so sweetly each time I post, ( I am still trying to make it around to you all for a visit to your blogs…I miss you all) I wish you all a safe and happy weekend.

I’d also like to thank my three special winks for stopping by so faithfully and so often…and to one of those winks in particular….’You’re very welcome!’ *) (you don’t need to thank me) (you know who YOU are!) *) *) *) MWUAH!

I can never get enough of looking at your yard. It is so beautiful. Each time I look I find even more unique flowers and outdoor decorating. I can't even imagine how you keep up with this beautiful yard let alone how you keep everything watered.

I have to water my hanging plants twice a day in this heat and although I use Miracle Grow potting soil that helps hold the moisture and water twice a day they still suffer. I notice that it takes its toll on them if the even get a little bit dry.

Your yard and flowers are just amazing!

WOW! wonderful gardens. Those have to be the biggest hydrangea I have ever seen. They obviously put their energy into blooming rather than leafing and growing their plant parts!

Just beautiful as always. Your front door is almost invisible...the dahlias look pretty even though they aren't dinner plate size, mine didn't grow dinner plate size either. Your header photo bed is stunning and might how out shined the one you use....oh shit! everywhere I look in your yard I see beauty!!

Everything is just beautiful, love the ivy around the door. Another love, the way you have your plants in your front yard, next to the street. You may have solved a problem for me, I had to place large rocks next to the street to keep people from driving into my yard (no sidewalks). I really don't want to put up a fence, so to hide the large stones I think plants would work! Thanks for all your inspiration.

The last photo with your lawn looks spectacular with that lush lawn! For some reason it reminds me of Palm Beach, although you are a few miles from there! L

Hi Tootsie, Love your west beds in the backyard and your header bed. Thanks for showing the big view of the backyard. That helps to see the overall view. Your gardens are looking really pretty! You are very talented, Tootsie! My son built me a bench based on your barnboard picket bench and I showed it in my post today. I linked to yours...yours is covered with pots etc and since I just got mine, no pots on it till next year...time for gardening to begin to wind down now; I'm not purchasing any more annuals at this point. It will be awesome next year, though. It's a very sturdy little bench and I love it! Thanks for the inspiration!
Blessings, Beth

Your gardens are so beautiful! Weeds? what weeds?? :)

It's been so hot here this past week, so much is scorched. They'll recover but they look so sad right now.

I'm a little scorched too!! LOL

Tootsie, I need your AMBITION! and your artistic vision! Can you come over and help me??

I'm just awestruck by your gardens, everything looks so wonderful and fresh and happy. What a testament to your hard work and skill!

I only wish my gardens looked this good this late in the season. And your header bed is just a beautiful as the year that you are trying to top :) Do you have trouble avoiding the bees to get to the front porch? We're having a lot of trouble this year on the back deck with the trumpet vine attracting bees. The bees are even going to the hummingbird feeder and upsetting the hummingbirds. Guess we have to have bees though. Until next week.

Your gardens just keep getting more beautiful each time I see them! I wished I lived close enough to visit in person, but am glad I don't live next door, suffering by comparison. Oh wait, don't you work on your neighbors yards? Maybe we could work out a compromise, I would supply you with fresh grown organic produce and you could give me tips on creating a beautiful yard!!! :D

Tootsie, Tootsie, Tootsie! Please don't grout the stones. It looks so beautiful and different with the grass.

Everything else looks awesome! It's been a funny year for Hydrangeas here. A ton of blooms but sooooo much smaller than usual. Strange, eh? lol

Tootsie, I want so much to join in but my yard is a mess. The heat burned my lovely white rose bushes to a crisp and I didn't get to take pictures. They are potted. Also, I think in my rush to try and keep them alive, I overwatered them..because the leaves on one are turning yellow and dropping...and the roses died anyway. Isn't that a sign of to much water? There are rose tree's on either side of my garage..or were! :)
Your yard! I cannot get enough of it. I look and look and then go back and look some more.
Question. How do you keep the lawn from growing into the beds without some sort of bender board (which I hate) or something else.
I would love to do that to my front yard (if husband would just relax and leave me alone!) but..he won't. Know anyone who wants a sweet kind, but anxious afraid of change husband?) Never mind. He is almost 77 and the change would kill him even if you knew some old lady who would take him! I'm kidding!!!!
Anyway...about the border...what do you DO! That bike in the front flower bed is sooo cute!
Everything you do is CUTE! I need to get busy!!
Hugs,
Mona

It looks like July in your garden to me. I'm thinking you are in zone 4, so maybe that's why. It's been so hot here, that even with watering, things are a bit bedraggled. We had a cold front come through, and it's now 77 degrees, and my computer says we're having a light rain. I've been looking out the front door, but it's dark now, and I can't tell. I did hear some thunder in the distance, and just saw lightning.

I am behind in everything I do. I hope to join your party one of these Fridays.
