Fertilizer Friday is my FAVORITE day of the week! It is the day that an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together , snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!
If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?” Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:
If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!
You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!
All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootise Time, or the linky will be deleted. I don’t mean to be harsh, but there have been a lot of people linking in and when the participants graciously click over to their blogs, there is no sign of Fertilizer Friday anywhere to be found. This is not fair to those who do follow the rules, therefore…well you know!
So? what are you waiting for? Get outside, feed, water, snap and post!
It FINALLY warmed up here in Alberta. The rain stopped and things are growing. My intention today was to go out and do the yard work, edging, weeding and mowing the grass…pruning and primping etc.
But alas, once again kid related activities, and a horrible migraine headache slowed my progress. I also noticed that the mother Robins were kicking their babies out of the nest this morning…so the mowing and edging the garden had to be put on hold. Baby Robins do not just hop out and start to fly…they take a day or two to adjust to being alone…and they sit on the ground. I was not sure where the little guys were…therefore, I was not going to scare them!
It was another really busy day, (life doesn’t stop when mom has a headache around here) I was taking a few minutes to walk around the yard snapping a few pictures here and there, and admiring the blooms that were smiling at me. The Osteospermum seem so delicate…
The wonderful scent from the Lilac was just so intoxicating…I wish they would bloom all season rather than the few short days that they do.
I made my way around the gardens…taking in everything I could. All the flowers are recovering from the two nights of frost and a day of snow…this has been a tough spring for the plants…but they seem to be bouncing back…thank Goodness!!!
The vine on the rear of the greenhouse is doing well…as are the rest of the perennials there. The cold spring didn’t seem to slow them down at all.
I wandered through the gate to the front of the house…was admiring the handiwork I did on the vine…It got a trim and a little help holding onto the house about two weeks ago…I also hung lights to twinkle between the leaves in the evening…(going to be sweet in no time at all!!!)
I was all relaxed, listening to the birds chirping…and the wind blowing in the trees…when…
HEY!!! Who are YOU????
Can you guys see who I see???
Yeppers!!! It’s a baby Robin!!! I knew the moms had been kicking the babies out this morning…but I figured he’d moved along by now. When I saw him last he was in the other flower bed…hopping and rustling under the leaves of the monkshood plant….
I decided the best thing to do would be to just ignore his cute little self….so I tried…
I took photos of the window box and the vine on the front of the house.
But I ended up back here peeking at this little guy…
I am LOVING the little feathers that are sticking up on his head…he looks like a cranky old man!
Again I try to focus on the vines…which are looking good… but…
Momma Robin was making a scene…
..the little guy is behind that white hanging pot that is sitting on the step…
DAMN is he sweet!!!
He watched me the entire time. He was there for the first 20 minutes of my watering the flowers, and I didn’t even notice him…I only saw him when I went to change the nozzle on my hose…he doesn’t seem afraid of me…in fact…when I was taking photos of him..he watched me…and at one point…the kids popped out the door…he didn’t move…and by the time I was all done taking photos…
…he actually had fallen asleep!
I wish I had more to share today…that little bug was just the best part of the garden for me, I hope you enjoyed the tour and the peek at him! Things are still looking little and icky…
I can’t wait until there is no soil showing! This is a shot of the flower bed in my header photo…COME ON ALREADY!!! GROW!
I am not caught up at all…busy busy busy…I have weeds coming out my rear in my yard right now…so I will be out and about doing what I can there. ugh!
For tonight, I am going to nurse my headache…maybe sit in the greenhouse and relax a little later on…and then when I can, I will be around to peek at your glorious blooms!
Hugs, smiles and wishes for you all to have a safe and happy weekend…thank you to all who popped in this week for a visit, and to those who have linked in! I will see you all next week when I get a chance to post!
Until next time…happy gardening!
*)*)*)…to those very special three. I wish you could see my smile when I think of you guys…and the outcome of this week’s events! P.S. did you see me waving at you??? xoxoxo

Hate migraines!
That is an adorable little baby robin in your garden. My plants are beginning to fill in now and I'm sure yours will too.
Enjoy the garden today.
Happy Friday Miss Glenda hope your headache is gone and you have a beautiful weekend.

I heard last night that Hawaii received snow yesterday. Isn't that crazy. The news also said that the crazy weather is due to a La Nina that was thought to have fizzled out. The gulf is warmer than usual and has caused the warm temps to flow into areas and caused all these historical tornados. I expect the Atlantic and Gulf to be very active this year for hurricanes.
Have a good weekend.

We had a nest on our front step last year which was so fun for the boys. They checked in on the momma everyday...but those pesky crows ruined it all!
Enjoy your little feathered friend!
