Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers July 22/11

Copy_of_001

WELCOME!!!!

Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!!

Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together , snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!

If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?” Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:

If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!

You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!

All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootise Time, or the linky will be deleted. I don’t mean to be harsh, but there have been a lot of people linking in and when the participants graciously click over to their blogs, there is no sign of Fertilizer Friday anywhere to be found. This is not fair to those who do follow the rules, therefore…well you know!

I am posting a bit early this week…as I am swamped with things to do today…

All I can say about this week is that it was an absolute gong show!!! The kids and I were on the run all week long…errands, play dates, chores…you name it. We didn’t get a lot of time to enjoy the gardens this week due to the seemingly endless parade of violent thunderstorms that were inviting themselves into the area.

It seems that my gardens got very lucky this week (so far) as the hail and strong winds that were accompanied by heavy rains, was not quite as severe as that which hit other areas. I am thankful for just some minor flooding and a few tattered plants.

In spite of the storms, I managed to see a few new blooms this week that I am excited to share with you.

I got this plant the other day from a lady who is moving to an apartment and didn’t want it! Yay me!!!

DSCN1214

The Dahlias are blooming!!!!

DSCN1213

They are so vibrant!!!

DSCN1216

They seem to be peeking out over the chairs in my garden room!

DSCN1218

DSCN1219

I love the way they bloom !!!

DSCN1221

This one is my favorite!

DSCN1228

This one looks like it’s glowing!

DSCN1229

This is one bloom on a Dahlia I have never seen before!

DSCN1224

The thymophilla (did I spell that right?) is going gang busters with the bacopa!

DSCN1235

The snap dragons are taking a turn in bloom now too! I can’t wait till they are all smiling back at me!

DSCN1233

This bed is going to be gorgeous when all the snaps start to bloom…the rest is filled with geranium and edged in with dusty miller!

DSCN1234

I leave you with this one last shot of one of my favorite beds!

It seems that things are popping here in spite of the storms…whew…that’s a relief!

So? what are you waiting for? Get outside, feed, water, snap and post!

Hugs, smiles and wishes for a safe and happy weekend to you all!!! I have had a few issues with my internet this week...and am still working my way through last week's flaunt...bare with me...I will be there!

Until next time....happy gardening!!!

Hello Glenda! Your dahlias are amazing! They certainly announce summer! I love your seating area with the hanging baskets and all the blooms. It's so very cheerful and welcoming.

Love your dahlia blooms. I don't have any this year and seeing yours makes me miss them. It's blistering hot here in Ontario, so it's an inside day.

Happy Fertilizer Friday to you! Such gorgeous flowers I'd sure want to flaunt them too. What a beautiful dahlia!

I made it this time! Thanks so much Glenda for your comments on my recent posts! I am glad you liked the new roses. I was so excited to see them open. When they came they only had numbers. Post > http://creativecountrymom.blogspot.com/2011/07/2011-test-roses-revealed.html

And thanks so much for joining us on WebGarden!

No shortage of dahlias at your place! I've taken to growing the dinner plate varieties in large containers as they seem to do much better for me... Larry

Wow! The dahlias are gorgeous. Mine are just beginning to bud, probably because I didn't start them early enough.

You beds are beautiful as always. I went to UT Gardens yesterday and took 168 photos, but I can't get blogger to post for me. Oh well I will still have them when I can post. Kathy

Oh, Tootsie, such dahlia blooms (ooops, I almost typed 'booms'--but don't they look like they are just exploding with color??)

I'm so glad to see your garden was spared damage, it's so beautiful. I'm glad I was able to link up with something to share this week! Have a great weekend, too!

Hi Tootsie! Thanks for the comments and your visit. I'm not linking today, because I don't have enough 'computer time' for commenting back to other bloggers.

I just love those white Muskoka chairs you have!

I definitely will be back to posting for next 'FF'. Hope you have a great one.
Spectacular dahlias. I didn't grow any this year, but have in the past. Thanks for hosting this party.

Tootsie,
I really like dahlias but it is too hot to grow them here, you have some really nicer ones. The bicycle in the garden bed is a great touch.

I want the swirly thingy hanging on your fence between the chairs, :). Dahlias are one of my favorites.
Your blooms are looking awesome...I love the one the neighbor gave you too.

I have to ask...The books on the back of the bike...resin? or real and just placed there for the photo?

Blessings Kelsie

Your dahlias are beautiful, especially the pinkish one you noted was your favorite. I wish I could grow them here!

Thanks for visiting me, Tootsie, and I will join in on the party one of these times.

I love your dahlias. The outdoor room is so nice and I bet you enjoy sitting there with a cup of coffee (when you aren't running after someone or junkin) LOL. Hope you have a good weekend.

I just love dahlias but find them hard to grow in my yard...this year we had to wait so long because of flooding to plant them and then suddenly we were in a drought. I think I will put them in containers from now on...
oh my goodness, just gorgeous! you would not be happy with me...i haven't watered my flowers in days. it is just SO HOT, too hot, to stand outside. it's either me or them, and sadly, they'll be the ones to go!

Hi Kelsey
they are an old garage sale find...I think they are ceramic or something like that...they probably will not last for a second season...but my son didn't want them anymore...lol

My blog isn't a garden blog, so I didn't put in a link to Fertilizer Friday...but I just had to comment on your garden. It is just beautiful! I love the sitting area that looks just perfect for a morning cup of coffee or an afternoon glass of iced-tea! Love the bike, too...only it doesn't look like it's been ridden for a while! ha ha ha!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful flowers!

Joan

P.S. I found you through my sister's new blog, Kipling's Garden

Tootsie, your dahlias are gorgeous, I hope mine bloom soon. The trick for me is to remember to dig them up in the fall!

Tootsie-your Dahlias are so beautiful. I wish we were neighbors, you have a few I'd love to have divides on, and I have a few I know you'd love. Sigh.
Well, at least I get to enjoy the pictures.
Have a great week!

beautiful as always. It's been so hot and dry here. A week ago Monday we had a storm that brought down a couple of BIG oaks and then last night we finally got just a good old fashioned rain. Maybe someday soon I'll get in the mood to get out there and do some needed work.
