There are so many different types of gardens, and they are all unique to the gardener that created each of them. Just as the inside of our homes is a reflection of our personality, so it is in our gardens.
In my gardens you will see several different signs that I crafted from old barn board. Each one says something different.
Over the years, I have collected several other sayings and have kept them in a file for that special gift or project. I thought that today I would share a few of them with you. Perhaps one will touch your heart and you can make a piece of garden art to put it on....if you do...I will expect to see a post about it!
Enjoy!
"A beautiful garden is a work of heart"
"Gardens are not made by sitting in the shade"
"Grow where you're planted"
"Kind hearts are the garden,
kind thoughts are the root, kind words are the blossoms,
kind deeds are the fruit."
"My husband said if I buy any more perennials he would leave me
- - -gosh I'm going to miss that man!"
"Plant smiles; grow giggles; harvest love"
"The seed is hope; the flower is joy"
"You can bury a lot of troubles, digging in the dirt "
"Weed it and Reap "
"Weeds for sale - pick your own "
"Grow where you're planted"
"Herbs add spice to your life."
"God blesses the hands that work in a garden."
"Despite the gardener's best intentions, nature will improvise"
"The grass may look greener on the other side but it still has to be mowed! "
"God's in charge of flowers and seeds and I'm in charge of all the weeds."
"A Weed is but an unloved Flower"
"Beware of Snap Dragons"
"Don't grumble that roses have thorns
...be thankful that thorns have roses!"

I like this quote!
A garden is a friend you can visit anytime
It's not mine, but I like it.
Thank You Tootsie! I find your blog very inspiring. I will be trying not only this but several other ideas from your blog.
Hi Tootsie...what fun these sayings were to read...I loved them ALL...and how true most of them are too! ;-) Bo
Mornin' Tootsie. This was a very nice post. I started out having garden quotes every now and then on my posts but lately forgot to grab one until last night. My Grandsons came over and helped outside so I decided to do a post on them and had gone and found a garden quote for gardening and children together.
Every child is born a naturalist. His eyes are, by nature,
open to the glories of the stars, the beauty of the flowers,
and the mystery of life.
- R. Search
Those are all great sayings. I have one to add:
Life's a garden, dig in!
I have that on my blog(-:
Great post. You know how much I love garden quotes. Have a fun day!

I've been wanting to make a sign to hang my garden tools on and it will say "Carpe Ritula" which means "Seize the spade". I think that's cute! Lots of cute sayings you've accumulated. PAM
tootsie I love garden signs. I made several a while back with some things I had laying around. I actually some of the same sayings!! I haven't put them up yet...that is on my list of things to do this weekend.

I love these sayings. Maybe I will add some more signs to my garden. I always think of the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence when we go to town, there is a cow I have named Ken's cow since my son first spotted her, she is always sticking her head between the fence straining to reach a blade of grass just outside of her reach. Silly cow, so much of it is within her reach, what is it about the other.

Very cool...so many great sayings. I might have to make a sign or two myself this spring!
Oh Tootsie! I loved the "Weed it and Reap!" and "Weeds? What Weeds?"
I'm gonna have to see what I can come up with! God Bless you today! Lauralu :)
You can NEVER have too many sayings.....THANK YOU! You are AWESOME!!!!
Hi Tootsie :)
My favorite is "You can bury a lot of troubles, digging in the dirt " You can also bury them in house projects ;)
hugs,
rue
Cute ideas for garden art!! I'm anxiously awaiting your summer garden. I know it will be spectacular - I'm so glad to see you immersed in what makes you happy! Sally
WOW!!! might have to come back to this post.. for my boat ;-) hehe!
Monica
I loved this...some I knew, some I didn't. My favorite is "The kiss of the sun for pardon, the song of the birds for mirth, you're closer to God in a garden than anywhere else on earth." Nancy
PS: I also like to confuse people by saying I'm heading out for a little 'dirt therapy'!!!
i just love some of those sayings. I just need to work out how to use them...hmmmm...lol. Your garden must be getting to the exciting stage now... ready to plant.. and the new babies going into the ground and then popping their little heads through! Enjoy! Marilyn xoxo
You have the best ideas! I saw the most awesome wire frame chairs planted with moss & beautiful annuals today at a nursery. I went back to look at them 3 times before I noticed they were such a bargain at $149. Needless to say, they didn't come home with me! Now I have a plan, I just need to bring home an old chair...
I'm so jazzed! I bought a Moro blood orange tree & 2 more rose bushes today. I've got to start digging holes now to plant all my treasures. ☺♥☺ Diane
guys!!! sorry I have not been able to come and visit. I will try to make it around tomorrow evening. I miss my life ...lol
yea.................
I love garden sayings..... my favorite is..
"In the garden we forget to count the hours"
So true....... you sure have a lot of good ones .... I'll have to print them ...... thanks
HUgs
Linda
Great sayings! Thanks for posting.
Diane
I so enjoyed all of these! They would make great garden signs. Thanks for sharing them. They put a smile on my face. laurie
great sayings....I am weary about getting back out there with all my poison ivy.....but do not fear...I will return. I just love diggin in that dirt. HA!!!
Finally got here and glad I did--Love these sayings. I identify with the "You can bury..." one. My husband always says he can tell when I working something out or something is bothering me...it's directly related to the size of the pile of weeds or dirt beside me...:)
i'm new... hope to despatch nearly more often!
Hi - I am certainly happy to find this. Good job!
