Fertiizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers- July 31/09

love your flowers but where are your lupins
I lost my sister in law in '06 to breast cancer. She was only 39, just short of her 40th birthday. She fought it for years but it took her life and left behind my brother and two young children who all miss her dearly.

I am so envious - your gardens are awesome! My few annuals have fizzled under the heat and I didn't replant anything to replace them because it's too darned hot to dig in the garden. Oh well...

I don't even know if I have anything to show this week, I'll have to check!

Hi Tootsie!!! Finally, I have been able to click in to comment. For some reason, it has been weeks since I've been able to do that. I have no clue what the problem was. I really didn't desert you, just had to lurk and keep trying. Your garden looks wonderful as always. Believe it or not, my portulaca looks almost as good as yours. Everything else is questionable, but we keep trying. Have a great weekend. Sally
This is just too beautiful to be true!!! I am in awe!!!

Gorgeous!!!

Enjoy!!!
XOXO

Your flowers are so beautiful. Just breath taking! I hope you take the time to sit and admire them(-: I hurt my back yesterday so I am out of commission for a few days. Everything looks terrible here anyhow. We had a few 112 days and the rest almost as hot. It was an ugly week. Even the grass is ugly. OH well maybe next week I will have something to share(-: Until then I will enjoy seeing everyone elses blooms!!!!

Hi Tootsie...

I usually plant Portulaca..but I didn't this year. It always does very, very well here. It takes the heat like a champ and doesn't require much water at all! I am FINALLY going TODAY on lunch to the POST OFFICE!!! Bare with me ;-)!!!! My mom is amazed by your yard...as am I! I'm telling ya that I'm gonna come visit you and lilsista one day !

Your flowers are just beautiful....as always! Have a lovely weekend!
It's always so colorful there. I'm so impressed that you grow all of your annuals from seed! I don't start much from seed, I know it's a lot of work! I love the calibrachoa! I'm trying to grow some in a planter above my pond, but it's not doing much, yours looks about a million times better :)

It looks beautiful as always Tootsie. Your Clematis is putting on quite a show and I love Malva. It feels so good to be almost cold this morning! Maybe my brain will sneak back to normal. I think it's been fried all week.
Beautiful as always! That clematis is awesome. Thanks for the show. Growing all your annuals from seed is impressive~ especially for the variety and quantity that you have. Kudos to you.

Stunning as usual, Toots! Do you grow any perennials? And if so, have any of those been started from seed?

I can't show my flowers; they look like the ones after season sale. Bad shape. Maybe next week. I am glad you made it home before the rain girlfriend.

Love the colors and beauty of it all. I haven't even had a chance to see my gardens this week let alone care for them. Hoping next week is less stressful so I can join in the fun, but in the meantime I'm going to check out all your other linkys.

Everything is so pretty! The side bed looks amazing. But I've gotta say that the portulaca is my favourite today, even edging out the clematis for once! And you know how much I covet that clematis ;-) But I love the colours of the portulaca, and they're so delicate looking, aren't they?

I lost my mom to cancer in 2005. She was only 62. I miss her greatly every day.
I have enjoyed looking at all your beautiful flowers!! I am so glad I joined you today! It has been fun!!

Your garden is so amazing and discovering that you started them all yourself inspires me to keep learning. I finally jumped in this week, but the little flowers have suffered with me being gone for two weeks...ah, well, that is life, isn't it?
Candy said…
You have some of the most beautiful flowers I have EVER seen. Must be all the fertilizer ;-)
Tootsie, as always, everything is gorgeous, but every time I see that Clematis, it takes my breath away. I cannot believe how quickly your flower beds and pots have filled in and overflowed! You don't just have a green thumb-all 10 fingers are green! laurie

My other blog explains why I'm behind, and will be fertilizing on Saturday. Your garden is lovely, all of it. What zone are you? Everything you have would grow where I live, in Central Alberta.
Sigrun said…
Trust me. Right after my last comment, I explored your site some more, found your profile, and found that you are also an Alberta Gardener. Fancy that! Now I'm just curious how far apart we live.

As always, your gardens look beautiful! The color is beautiful. I keep noticing the silvery wave petunias as I check garden blogs. I need to put those on my list for next year. I'm amazed that you grow all those plants in your own greenhouse! Wonderful! ~~Rhonda

I am laughing so darn hard over that dream of yours. I was just cutting 5 acres last night and told steve that I wanted to plant a flower garden so I had fresh flowers every week instead of running or paying for delivery to the shop every week. This so funny...........
Steve says hello to my blog friend. Enjoy the boat this week end. Nati and my son in law with children are boating too today. They will be her tomorrow.

As always your gardens are so lovely. Love what you did with the hutch in the previous post. Reminds me of the one my mil had (my mom is currently using it).

Yeah, I know what you mean about fb. Really, you need to be careful about any information you leave (including blogging and even comments).

Tootsie,
I am posting to Mr. Linky late, but I used your great tip about an inexpensive liner for my window box and wanted to let you know. It is also running on Met Monday and Thrifty Treasures. I included a link back to your site. You always inspire me and I love viewing your amazing gardens, thank you.

First off I want to say superb blog! I had a quick question in which I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your head prior to writing. I've had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips? Thanks!
