Happy Friday Bloggers!/ Gardeners!/ Friends!!!! It’s Friday again already and that means it’s time to flaunt our flowers, gardens and all things green!
Now if you are not familiar with the rules of this little party…here they are;
If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!
You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!
All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and a link to Tootise Time, or the linky will be deleted. I don’t mean to be harsh, but there have been a lot of people linking in and when the participants graciously click over to their blogs, there is no sign of Fertilizer Friday anywhere to be found. This is not fair to those who do follow the rules, therefore…well you know!
So? what are you waiting for? Get outside, feed, water, snap and post!
For me this week has been a total waste of garden time. It has been raining and wet and COLD here. Today it only got to a high of 5 above freezing all day long.
I miss the sun shining, and the warmth of the sun feels like a distant memory for us here in Alberta. That being said, I think it is only fair to warn you that I am grasping at the proverbial straw trying to find something – anything to show you today. Frost has taken a bit of a toll on my gardens already…and last I looked, we were under the very real threat of possible snow showers this weekend!!! (ya…I know…someone needs to have a little ‘chat’ with good old mother nature) Here’s what I dare to share this week:
My Nicotana…seems to have taken a turn for the tallest!!! It is about 4 feet tall…and I am pleasantly surprised by it. I think it’s funny how some of them are only 12 inches and others are enormous!
My Ivy plants are turning that pretty shade of red that they have in the fall. I love the color…but it still makes me feel a little nostalgic for the hot warm summer.
This is a closer look…they have just started to turn…they will end up a deep shade of red by the time they are finished for the season. I just hope we get to see the deep red tones this year. Last year it snowed before they had a chance to turn, and they all just went limp and hung all over the vines looking ugly all winter. ICK
Delphinium blooming . Very pretty…and Very WHITE…considering it was supposed to be an electric BLUE!!!!
Geraniums…this is such a pretty one…
This one just POPS in the evening light…
This one looks like it is dusted with flour…
This is so pink it glows…
And they all live right here…where they used to be soooo pretty and lush. It is still pretty, just not as full of blooms as it once was.
My header bed is still overflowing…but mostly with blooms that need to be deadheaded….I am waiting on a warmer day…seed harvest is going to happen as soon as possible…so we can get loads of seeds!!!
I am frozen solid…so I am on my way inside the house…one last shot of the flowers from the top of the stairs…Oh how I wish for a longer summer season!!!
Okay…now that I have complained and groaned in your face about fall…and cold wet weather…show me what you have!!! I want to see your warm climates…all glowing with blooms and sunshine!!! PLEASE???? It’s been a while since I’ve seen the sun!!! haha-no seriously…it has!
I look forward to popping in on many of you this week…and I have some great posts just waiting for me to finish up…projects…jobs…and adventures with the kids!!! (yes-we went junkin-and it wasn’t at Grampies!)
Until next week- hugs and smiles….wishes for a safe and happy weekend to you all. OOPS! I almost forgot to say a big hello to those three special winks who just adore even the thought of me! You know who you are!

Your delphinium is beautiful regardless of colour. It is my nemesis - I just can't seem to grow it.
Doesn't it seem like we were just chomping at the bit to get things going? And now everything is dying off!
Tootsie... your gardens appear to be lovin' the cool weather... fantastic amount of color and it looks perfect!! L
Tootsie dear, I have nothing! Not a thing. All of my flowers are spent and the ones that I cut back are just now beginning to show new green. I try and buy perrinials all the time..and they are not blooming. I did see three tiny flowers out front...but in a month or two they should be back in full bloom. The flower baskets that hang on the front porch...sad!
It's warm here and as glad as I am that the terrible heat is gone..I am not looking forward to the cold all that much.
You must feed those plants pure milk and honey. I need to feed mine and I keep putting it off. It's time again.
I will try and get my plants in presentable condition so I can join in very soon!
Still looks beautiful to me!
What a beautiful garden you have! I wish summer wouldn't end. I posted all my blooms yesterday, then the rains came and petals are falling.
Tootsie, your geraniums look great. oMine are just beginning to recover from all the heat.
I'm speechless - all I can say is WOW!
Hi! I love your flower garden. It looks like a fairy tale... Lovely. As you enter the cooler weather, down here in Florida, I'm looking for inspiration to get out there in the heat and plant our fall garden, a wildflower meadow, roses... Summer is hard on our gardens (and gardeners) down here. Thankfully, I can look at blogs like yours for motivation!
Tootise, I have put you on my side barfor over a year and also did a post with you on top.
I didn't do the linky thing. Doyou still allow me to visit??
You stil have so many lovely flowers! Love all the colors and variety. Paula in Idaho
p.s. This is my first year with you - how long do you do Fertilizer Friday and when do you start again in the spring?
Your garden still looks lovely. Mine is so sad. This was supposed to be my clean-up 'n' spruce-up weekend. But I have a cold. Next weekend?
dang it, my comment got ate up
Tootsie, your weather stinks. That's what I luv about Mississippi.
I've run around here in a tank top in December before.
try to stay warm, have a great weekend.
Tootsie, your garden is still (always) lovely!
Well if you're looking for warm sun weather you won't find it where I live either, although we are nowhere near as cold as you.
Your garden looks amazing. You sure do make the most of the short summer you have. Your header bed is so full and colorful still, I'm jealous!
Still looks good!! Is your Ivy Virginia Creeper?
Your gardens still look beautiful to me! We've been having some crazy wearher as of late. Cold at night and hot during the day.
The garden seems to be smiling and happy during the day and shivering and drippy in the morning.
BUT we are no where as cold as you. Keep warm my friend!!
Tootsie, wow, that is a tall nicotiana.....now I'm going to add that to my annual list for next spring, too! I love your star-shaped bed, how pretty! Your gardens are breathtaking, and I know just what you mean about missing the hot weather already. Where did the summer go? All too soon it will be snow and more snow. Thank goodness we have pictures to look at and other gardeners in tropical climates who can share their warmth with us! Take care and hope it warms up soon for you, too!
Your flowers are still very stunning!! Mine are very sad I'm sorry to say.... didn't get a chance to shoot pictures today (life is getting away from me again). Enjoy your beautiful gardens and keep looking forward to those couple of days in the Fall that bring warm temperatures. Love the surprise day in November that hits 80.... it does happen lol
I made it over.... please stop by and check out my share for today. You are going to love the fading sunflower because they are still putting on their flaunt.
Miss you dear Greenhouse sista - we need to talk soon about the adventure!
Your garden is really responding to the cool weather! Everything in my garden is content, as I am, with the lovely fall weather we have had. Knocking on wood!
Aww I wish you had more of summer too! We have that kind of ivy around here but it never turns any other color, it just dies. The geraniums still look beautiful! Do they come back year after year?
Tootsie, I can't believe it's already cold there...our days are still in the nineties...makes the electric co. real happy here!!! That nicotina is something else...never have I seen it that tall...everything seems to still be beautiful there...so I hope your snow holds off for a while!!!
I am very new at this and just found your blog through Cass from That Old House. What beautiful flowers, but how do they grow when it's only 5 degrees above freezing? Everything would be dead hear in Ohio at those temps. I'm becoming more and more convinced that the prettiest flowers grow in the coolest temps and the temperatures are just too extreme here in Ohio. We've barely had rain in over a month and nearly everything is looking pathetic and stressed. I will look forward to seeing your beautiful pictures of flowers since mine are nearly done. Thanks for sharing.
I'm really late huh? I worked out today in the mucky rainy gardens then came inside and died. But I bought so many new flowers I have to get planted.
Sorry to hear you're getting such cold weather. Isn't it early even for Alberta?
Well, I know it isn't as lush as it was but your gardens still look great to me. I could be so lucky to have beautiful shows like yours.
I like the idea of useing Dusty miller as a border plant. Thank You for sharing your garden....Julian
Tootsie, your garden looks lovely, especially the geraniums. Mine did not do well this year because of the heat. We are starting to finally cool off.
The red ivy leaves are so pretty. Very regal looking.
Nice dispatch and this post helped me alot in my college assignement. Gratefulness you on your information.
I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your garden - top picture. I have a huge Chinese Elm tree in my back yard which covers the back yard - so not much sun. Sometimes I wish for sunshine, but sometimes I'm glad for the shade. Will certainly enjoy your site. Thanks and God Bless
