Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers Sept. 13/13
WELL HELLO THERE!
WELCOME FRIEND!
Do you know what day it is???
It’s Friday !!!!
Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!!
Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together, snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!
If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?”
Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:
If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like.
The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!
You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!
All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootsie Time, or the linky will be deleted
So?????....I would like to invite each and every one of you to join in and share your photos...
I had HUGE plans for this week…the weather was wonderful, (seems we finally got summer) and there is so much a girl could do outside at this time of year…I was roaring to get going!
And then…
I got the stomach flu. So much for all my plans…forget about doing anything outside at all! I tried endlessly to write a couple of the posts I have been meaning to get done up and shared, but NO…I just could not get any of it done. In fact…this post is the most I have been able to do in three days! Fever, chills, nausea, upset stomach…I am the poster child of people who feel like crap!
I did manage to get a few shots together to share with you guys…so lets move away from the gross topic of the flu, and onto something much prettier!
Take a look:
This bed was getting to be a bit of a mess again…in spite of my efforts to thin things, it has become an overgrown eyesore…filled with chick weed….yes…I said the C word…ugh.
So…I got busy last week and I cleaned it right out. I put a couple of things in, but not all the way in. I left that thyme and the oregano in their pots…that way I can get in there and deal with the chick weed as it pops up…and as you can see here…it is already popping again!
I added a wisteria to the back of the bed, so it can hopefully hide the UGLY that resides ON the house itself…I hate all the cords and meters etc…
This is the view of that area of the house from a little way back…not bad…but you can sure tell that summer is almost gone.
My first bed…the one I built first in this yard, is still growing like it is June…things are HUGE in there…and there isn’t much for soil to be seen…(that’s a good thing)
This is one of the only spaces that isn’t showing signs of fall…
My “rust-ic Junkin bed” is looking a lot like fall is about to happen…I just hate how it’s fading away so fast.
From Far back, the entire yard still looks ‘okay’…I hope the weather treats us well until late in the fall…I am not looking forward to the first killing frost…That always breaks this gardener’s heart.
Until then…I will enjoy seeing this little guy every day in the gardens…I had never seen a hummingbird moth until I moved here…they are amazing! This is the second year for them here…they seem to enjoy swapping flowers with the little hummingbird that refuses to let me take his photo!
Well….that’s it for me for today…I don’t want to make my post too terribly long…You guys need a chance to share too!!!
What are you waiting for???
GO!!!
Get your flaunt on!!!
You can link as many posts as you like…I don’t mind seeing lots!!!
Thank you all so much for dropping in today, and to those that faithfully link in to this party…and who are patient while waiting for me to FINALLY visit you…also…it seems there are not enough hours in a day anymore...THANK YOU!
Until Next Time... Happy Gardening!

Welcome back! I missed posting last week…but the break was good…Lets get started.
I have not had a lot of time to do any gardening this past while…I have been busy busy and my garden is showing a little neglect…BUT…I do have a few wonderful new blooms to share!
There were about 200 photos of my yard that I looked at to share today. I had 2 choices…I could show you the entire yard today, and bore you with the same old shots…OR I could share some shots of the fantastic blooms…so that I what I decided to do…Take a look:
My Zinnia decided to bloom FINALLY…I love the lime green color!
Another one of my Hydrangea is blooming!!! YAY!
The tiny cotton easter hedge that I planted this spring with Grampie (my dad) is doing VERY well indeed!!! I am so relieved…I thought it would struggle…NOW…I just need to get it through the winter!
VOLUNTEER Nicotana…just popped up two weeks ago…it must have seeded itself from last year…I didn’t plant any this year!
Last fall I took seeds off of a Fox Glove growing in a friend’s flower bed…It is so pretty with the purple and blue flowers!
My Rudbeckia is blooming!!! I plant them every year…and love the look of each bloom.
Another Rudbeckia…they are so pretty!
Well….that’s it for me for today…I don’t want to make my post too terribly long…You guys need a chance to share too!!!
What are you waiting for???
GO!!!
Get your flaunt on!!!
You can link as many posts as you like…I don’t mind seeing lots!!! Especially since we missed last week!

Since last we met, there has been a lot of different weather issues hit my garden. Thunderstorms and loads of rain fell, making my blooms weary and WET. The chickweed that plagues my gardens seems to think rain is a steroid and burst out making my work that much more! Then there is the wonderful heat and sun that has been here for the last day or two…I LOVE it!
I have had a very busy summer and that means I have neglected my flower beds a little bit this past few weeks… take a look:
I have a suspicion that some of the Malva may have volunteered this year! hahaha….I need to get this bed under control…I love the jungle look…and I don’t believe there is ever too many plants…but when they start looking like this…it’s time for Tootsie to take things into her own hands…(and cutters)
Good greif! you can’t see anything…because EVERYTHING is insane! I also have to do something about that chick weed!!! grr
There is a LOT of dead heading needing to be done in my gardens…that’s gonna take a while…the rain sure did a number on the geraniums!
The Golden Plume Elder I put in this bed is trying to take over…I think a little cutting in is order here…and a lot of weedigng. Yes…I did throw some weeds onto the lawn….I’m mowing it in a minute anyways…lol
Remember the two little pathways I put into this bed??? They are on either side of the Pansy’s….YA…well…I need to get in here and cut the plants back so I can walk around to water!
I also need to mow that lawn!!!
….
8 long, sweaty, filthy hours later…..
Well…I tamed it!…a little bit anyways…the Pansy’s didn’t like me pulling the chickweed…it was wrapped up in them and now they look a little mad…they better get over it!
I cut back a lot of that Elder and managed to get SOME but not all weeding done in this bed…trust me, the weeds will wait…haha
I took a break from the weeding…it makes me crabby…and decided to plant a Hydrangea that I have had in the greenhouse. I love it, and hope it makes it through the winter here!
There are a few of these wonderful huge blooms getting ready to pop on that plant. I put it against the fence as to give it a little wind break, and since it likes to fall down, the fence can act as support for it.
I also planted a honeysuckle vine by the greenhouse door. I hope it gets nice and big there and will arch the doorway one day.
By the time I finished mowing the lawn and doing all of this, it was getting dark outside and I looked like a bush woman covered in filth!
The job that I didn’t do yet…but will be doing while you link in…
…Is finding those two little twig pathways in this flower bed!
Wish me luck!
That is the end of my flaunt for this week.
SO??…what are you waiting for???
GO!!!
Get your flaunt on!!!
I wish all of you hugs and smiles, and safe and happy weekend plans!
Thank you all so much for dropping in today, and to those that faithfully link in to this party…and who are patient while waiting for me to FINALLY visit you…also…it seems there are not enough hours in a day anymore...THANK YOU!

I managed to bugger up my lower back pretty good this week…but have no idea how I did it…so…I have been a little under the weather and definitely out of commission for most of the last few days. It is feeling a bit better today, and I am able to walk about a bit, but earlier in the week it was horrible! No sitting, no standing, and no laying down…What’s a girl to do!
Well…she does a little photo shooting. There wasn’t any weeding done…that’s for sure! haha
Take a look at the things this Tootsie sees when she actually is forced to sit still for a bit:
This little guy seemed to follow me everywhere I went…I think he was posing!
There are dozens of Dragon Flies in my gardens right now…not all of them are so still! haha
I spent a little time looking up close at some of the blooms that we take for granted…there are some gorgeous combinations of color and intricacies that without a little attention being paid, we would never REALLY see.
Beautiful color combinations…
Each flower has it’s own characteristics…
There is always something going on in the garden:
This little guy sure is working hard in the monkshood blooms.
Graceful,
…soft and delicate (hosta bloom buds)
…delicious smells (heliotrope)
The way every flower compliments the next is exciting. Going in for a shot of a pretty white Dahlia and getting a surprise visitor in the mix… is priceless! I had no idea he was going to land!
That brings us to the end of my flaunt.
SO??…what are you waiting for???
GO!!!
Get your flaunt on!!!
I wish all of you hugs and smiles, and safe and happy weekend plans!

The weather has been hot and dry in our area, but other areas of Alberta have seen substantial amounts of rain. My garden would be suffering if not for the tap and hose!
Things are looking rather pretty in some parts of the gardens this week…Take a look:
In spite of the high heat and burning sunshine it has to cope with, my Hydrangea is getting set to bloom in the back yard!
The bed against the back of the house is looking full!!!
I added that garden arch as a support for a plant I have been ACHING to try growing in my gardens…
When I found some of this particular plant I was VERY excited!
Yep…it’s a Wisteria! Supposedly a hardy Wisteria…We shall be testing that hardiness this winter…I sure hope it survives!
So far, the newly planted Wisteria is happy as a clam. Overnight it grabbed onto the trellis side and that is something that makes me VERY happy!
My dinner plate Dahlia is blooming like a maniac. I am a little sad that her blooms are not as large as the one I had in past years, but I didn’t plant it into the ground…it is in a pot…perhaps that is why there are smaller blooms. Either way, it’s been putting on a great show!
That brings us to the end of my flaunt. I will be sharing more in the coming days. The photos you are seeing are some that I took a few days ago. At this moment I am not at home…I am actually out of the country doing a little junkin….so stay tuned…I can’t wait to get started on some of the project pieces we found, and to share a couple fun stories with you all!
Well…what are you waiting for???
GO!!!
Get your flaunt on!!!
I wish all of you hugs and smiles, and safe and happy weekend plans!
Thank you all so much for dropping in today, and to those that faithfully link in to this party…and who are patient while waiting for me to FINALLY visit you…I am having LOTS of issues with pinched nerves and it is difficult to type or move the mouse right now. If I do a little at a time I get by with only a little pain, but too much and I am OUT of commission for a long time!…also…it seems there are not enough hours in a day anymore...THANK YOU!
Again, I feel just terrible that I haven’t had time to get around to everyone lately…I miss seeing your shares!
Until Next Time... Happy Gardening!
