It's Tailgate Time!

Hey!   Welcome back!

I've been MIA for a couple of weeks, but there is a great reason for it.   I have been SWAMPED with work!

In June I received 150 Tailgate Hoodies.   I posted them at 4pm on a Friday afternoon on my company facebook page.   By 7pm that same day they were sold out!

So...I reordered...and they finally arrived at the beginning of September.   OMG you guys... you would not believe the response I have had!

These hoodies are the BEST!    They are excellent quality, nice and warm...Super soft...and WAY cool.  They wash and wear like a dream!

They have a built in lined drink holder and a key chain with bottle opener attached to the inside of the regular pocket!   I am IN LOVE  with these hoodies...and apparently I am not alone...lol   I have been overwhelmed with orders for these.

Several businesses have ordered for their company logo to be put on, and I am the official supplier of Grad hoodies for a few schools in the area...and I am even doing the staff hoodies for a nearby town!

I am so excited...lol

Here is an example of what I do to them...This one is for a graduate at our local public school.

I put the grad's last name on the sleeve...
and this on the back!   The kids are really loving their drink holder (tailgate) hoodies!

Have you ever hear of a tailgate hoodie before?
Do you have one yet?
If you answered no to any of the above questions...you really need to get one before they sell out completely!
trust me...
You won't be disappointed!

To order one visit www.chic-a-boot.com

I am now anxiously awaiting another order of super fun items...I can't wait to share!

Until Next Time...happy shopping!

It's ALL About the SASS!

Well HELLO THERE!   So glad you popped by today!

I have something new to share with you...and it's super fun!  I have been one busy girl the last few weeks, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down AT ALL!   I am NOT complaining though...it's a VERY good thing.   Being this kind of busy means my little store is thriving!   Between all of you and my wholesale accounts, I am running!

Before I get on with things, I want to address a few of the emails I have received since I got back to posting.   I had turned off commenting on this site a few years ago for several reasons.  1.  I don't like spam.   2.  I am not here for people to use my comments to advertise their own  businesses on.   3.  I am not interested in abuse, drama or nasty comments from those who are selfish, unhappy, hateful or over confident in their ability to spread negativity!   4.  I don't do politics, and don't appreciate those who try to make EVERYTHING political.  Yes, these things have been an issue at some point.     That said, because several of you have asked me to, I am turning on the comments, but having them moderated so I can spare you all from seeing things that don't belong.   SO...if you write to me, and it doesn't appear immediately, it is just waiting for me to approve it...don't panic!   I will publish them as soon as I get the chance!

Over the last several months, I have actually begun stocking 90% of the inventory in a very busy store in Saskatchewan Canada, and have lines in several others.   I am loving every second of my life and it is amazing.   Those of you who have followed for a while will remember a time where I thought I would never be happy again.   I am the perfect example of no matter how dark it is right now, there is always a bright light coming if you just keep going!

Let's get to the good stuff!

I have been tossing this next idea around in the back of my mind now for a few weeks, and decided that it was time I tried it, tested it and perfected it, so I did...and it worked!  So without further adieu...I'd like to introduce the newest line in my store!  You know...I never realized how sarcastic and silly I could be until I bought the equipment to expand my business...Ha Ha!   I am having SO much fun with it now!

Introducing....Vintage Sass With Class Glassware & China!

Yes...YES!   I did say Vintage.   What does that mean?   Well...many of the sayings are "recycled", "iconic" sayings.   Some of the dishes and glassware is also vintage.   Not all has been used, but much of it is.  Check it out:

This tea cup and saucer set is one I have had in my collection for a while.   It is about 14 years old, but it has never been used!  I decided that it was time to pull it out of the cabinet and share it with the world, so I added a couple decals.

This set is in my store and is $25.99 CAD.

This one is MY favourite.   I love these plates...they are not your usual plate.   They have ridges and details, and are just so pretty!   These are available in my store for $19.99 each

Vintage China Dinner Plates...will be added to the site soon!

Vintage Platters...$32.99

What?...sometimes a girl has a bit of snark, but is too much a lady to say it out loud! This one is also  $24.99

These and several more...including a beautiful silver plated bone china tea pot with very cheeky saying ...and coordinating cup and saucer are available!   I am having a whole lot of fun mixing Sass and Class custom pieces and some for my store.

So?   Do any of these suit your mood?  lol   What's your favourite catch phrase?   I'd love to hear about it...Just know, if it is fabulous I may put it on a plate... or two! (wink wink)

That's it for me today!   I'm off to get some work done!  Leave me a note and maybe even inspire me! If you should wish to purchase anything you see here today...hit me up!   leave a note, email me, visit my store...I'm not fussy.

Until Next Time...Stay Sassy but be Classy!

TIC TAC TOE...I WIN!

Today I am sharing a project I have done through my company for one of my biggest accounts.

I had picked up a few of these for a friend last month, and they were a hit!

The person for whom I got them,  loved them so much that she asked me to see if the original maker was interested in making some for her gift shop.   Turns out, that the person who made the ones I bought was not interested in making more to sell, so I blurted out "I could TOTALLY make those...they would be simple to do"   ...and here we are!

It's camping, lake, cabin- well  OUTDOOR season here in Canada, and that means we need to have things that are durable and can be left outside, even when it's windy or wet.   We love to sit around and relax and hang out on our beautifully decorated decks ...so why not have something to do?

If you have ever been out to eat with a kid, and the server brings the placemat with all the games on it, you know there will be a game of tic tac toe on there somewhere and it will FOR SURE get played...WHO DOESN'T like to enjoy a quick game every now and then?

Well...now some lucky customers are going to have a rustic wooden version of tic tac toe to play while they hang out in the great outdoors!  What a fabulous way to get us to put our phones down and do something with ourselves once and a while!

I started out with a 4x4 post, and some scraps of fence/deck board.   I measured the width of the deck board, and used that number to determine the size of the 4x4 blocks I would cut.

I cut 9 blocks and put them in a square.   3blocks X 3blocks.

I then measured the width of the blocks from both directions to be sure that they could be placed in any order, I added 1/2 inch to that number and cut two pieces of the fence board to size.   I then added the depth of the fence board to my measurement of the blocks and cut two more pieces to create the sides of the box.   I screwed them all together in the shape of a square and made sure it fit around the blocks.

I then cut two more pieces of deck board to create the bottom of the box and attached them to the square.

After I was sure everything fit into the box, I proceeded to add a bit of stain to the cut ends of the wood to make it all look nice.

I then added an "X" and an "O" to the ends of each block.  (each block got an X and an O)

Done!

I love the look of these!   They are functional decor!  Rustic, and durable and perfect for outside...or inside if your decor allows for that!

This project was SO easy to do too!   Anyone could do it!  The hardest part of this project for me was not making them PERFECT.   They are supposed to look rustic and kind of primitive.  I had to keep reminding myself that a few flaws are important to complete the look!

Where would you put one?   I think I might need to make one for our family-  just so that we have one around for the grandkid(s) to play with when they visit, or for us to enjoy when we have a minute!!

I have several more sets in various colours to do up for my customer...and she anticipates that they will fly off the shelves in her gift shop!

Have I inspired you to try to make a set?   If so, I'd love to see photos of your version!   Snap a picture and send it along!

That's it for me today!   I'm off to finish building and then clean up the gigantic mess I've made in my garage.

  Until Next Time...Happy Building!

Will You Help?

Hey guys!   Long time no post hey?

I had several posts all ready to go and was just about to schedule them to publish when my computer decided to completely crater on me and I lost them all!   As you can imagine, I was not a happy girl.

Fast forward almost a month, and I have a new laptop, have set it up the way I need it, have learned to use it, and am ready to try again!   This time I am going to tell you about a wonderful cause that I am hoping you all can help me support!   I am also going to ask...no BEG you all to SHARE SHARE SHARE AND SHARE this post some more!   We all seem to have a quick to share response when it is a joke or some political insult to "the other side" but when it comes to the really important stuff, most shy away.   I hope all who this post reaches is compelled to SHARE.   Awareness will create support!

While we are all whining and complaining and feeling sorry for ourselves about all of the social and personal restrictions that the Covid epidemic has put on us, and how much our lives have changed, there is something even more upsetting that many of us would never think of.   Child Sexual Abuse.  With many people being so restricted and confined to home, abuse is a horrific reality for far too many kids.

Is there anything more disturbing than someone stealing the innocence of a child?   NO.  I don't think so.   Our kids are so very precious...and there is never any good excuse for abuse!   When I heard about the Little Warriors Be Brave Ranch, and all the good it does, I was instantly compelled to do what I can to help.

Little Warriors is a national charitable organization focused on the awareness, prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse.  They also advocate on behalf of and with child sexual abuse survivors.  Every year Little Warriors’ Be Brave Ranch welcomes nearly 100 sexually abused children and teens from across Canada to receive intensive, specialized treatment for child sexual abuse.

Helping these kids is not an inexpensive undertaking and that is where you and I come in!   They NEED OUR HELP.

I recently met an amazing woman named Donna.

Donna is not only and inspiration and passionate supporter of Little Warriors... she, herself is a survivor of child sexual abuse.   Her story is both heartbreaking and inspiring.   I am so proud to call her my friend.

I am super proud and excited to become a supporter of the Little Warriors.

My little company 19 8ighty 9ine Design is planning to regularly donate items to the silent auction and as many items to the ranch (clothing items, blankets etc) as I possibly can.   This brings me to how YOU can help.

Remember me saying I am donating items for a silent auction?   Well it's coming up soon!

Please join us on May 6th for the 8th Annual Little Warriors Be Brave Virtual Luncheon!!!

Little Warriors Is in need of your support to help raise vital funds for the treatment of child sexual abuse and this year the luncheon will be virtual for across Canada participation!

The virtual silent auction starting this Monday is also full of some remarkable goodies, so we hope to see you then!

I do so hope you all will join in and help raise funds for this extremely important cause!   And...if you cannot afford a monetary contribution...sharing is another way to help.  Spread the word...SHARE THIS EVENT!!!  THE MORE PEOPLE WHO KNOW...THE BETTER!

Here are the details once more:

Branching Out

Hey everyone!   It's been a while since I have shared.   I have been meaning to update you all on what's been happening here but trying to find time is tricky!

My garden endeavors turned out nicely.   I am very happy with the progress I made this past few months.   I am not, however, happy that in the process I managed to do quite a number on my right shoulder!   For weeks I was in agony and could do very little.   My yard work came to a screaming halt and I was forced to sit and watch as my grass grew and my kids mowed for me!  I wish I had photos to share, but my injury made me a tad cranky and I never got around to taking any.   I will make it a point to take lots next spring/summer.

Covid has changed the way my company does business this year as all of my really good markets were cancelled...so I still have my products in several retail stores as well as online.   It has been a challenge to keep up with all the rules and new protocols.

I made thousands of masks, donated a substatial portion of them and was taking orders like a crazy woman for a few months.   Now, masks are the new stocking stuffer, so I have been shipping lots of those as well as the usual clothing items...

When fall came, and I no longer was tempted to be outside...I finished up a bunch of the masks to have on hand, and restocked the clothing, accessory line.   I then stepped WAY out on a limb...

...I turned my attention back to my little company, and I stepped out of my comfort zone just a little bit!  19 8ighty 9ine Clothing House has now become 19 8ighty 9ine Clothing House and Home!

Yes!   I finally got brave enough to expand my product line to include items for the home, and am SO glad that I did!   It's been a great success and I have been super busy filling orders and dreaming up new ideas!

I now offer several different things that will enhance every home!

This is a few examples of what I am talking about.

There are pillows...of different styles...

There are some dish hand towels....
as soon as I restock these, they seem to sell out!

some table runners and napkins...
also selling out as fast as I can make them!

And some casual blankets!

I have been so very busy!   I am so grateful that I taught myself the skills to do what I am doing...and that I love every minute of it.   Being able to support my family and do what I love at the same time is an absolute blessing.

I am still designing the ladies clothing and accessory line, and now I'm decorating at the same time.

As Christmas sneaks up on us again I am excited to be participating in a new store in our little town.   I have rented a decent size space there and many of my designs for home and clothing are displayed for sale in there.   It has been busy in there too so I need to be organized.   I also need to find time to put up the holiday decor, and keep up with my family.

If you would like to see my complete line of products visit www.chic-a-boot.com and see what's in stock...what's on sale and shop!!!   (shipping is always free to US and Canada addresses)

So...on that note I am off to my sewing space!

Until Next Time... Stay Safe...and Healthy!
