Pumpkins....A Must See!!!

WELCOME TO FALL AT TOOTSIE'S PLACE!!!!

Guys....I had just the best time making pumpkins today! Yes...I said Making (not growing) Pumpkins!

Now I WISH I could take credit for the idea and directions for these awesome and super fast, easy and cheap fall decorations...but I can't. The credit for this project goes to {L} at Moore Minutes. (for a better look....click the photo to enlarge!)
She posted a couple of different pumpkins she had made... she was even nice enough to share the How-to with us!!!

The pumpkins above are made from dryer vents!!! Can you believe that??? For the post with her directions...click here

I made these in about an hour...not including the paint drying. I modified the directions just a little bit to suit my need and climate.

I used three different size of vent....6-4 and 3 inch diameters...so I could have a variety of sizes. I used wire to close them instead of hot glue as I am WAS putting them outside...(not these ones...they are too cute) and the glue doesn't hold here outside. I also used a brown paper lunch bag as a stem...but the rest is exactly the way she said to do it! Are they NOT adorable? I think I will fill them with some sand next time...so they are heavy enough not to blow away...
So? What do you think? I like them..for just a few pennies...I have some fall decorations...that NO ONE in this area has!

Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers Aug. 12/11

WELCOME!!!!

Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!! Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together, snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!
If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?”
Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:
If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like. The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!
You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!
All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootsie Time, or the linky will be deleted.

So....I would like to invite each and every one of you to join in and share your photos...

In my garden things are recovering nicely from the storms that have taken a toll on them this past week or two.

I managed to get around to some clean up…including 5 garbage cans of plants…and several dead birds…it is sad. I am hopeful that things will spring back up and be just as pretty as they should be very soon. (minus the things that had to be discarded)

I plan to share the view of my gardens recovery on Monday, as I want to do a bit more clean up before I post, so this week I am doing a different type of flaunt…

Today’s flaunt is not one of my gardens…but instead of something that I saw yesterday that totally inspired me! Let me show you!

The kids and I took a little day trip to a nearby town and visited a corn maze! It is super fun to walk around in the maze…and try to find your way out! While we were there I saw something that I would love to try!!!

No…this is not it…haha…I would add arm holes and shackles…maybe a chain or two…haha…just kidding! This is just a fun pic…haha.

This is what I am inspired to share! It’s a flower barn!!! How cute is this!!!

It is a barn shaped structure…loaded with flower pots and window boxes!!!

In my garden…this would be solid blooms…I think this is just about the cutest idea…and it doesn’t need to be a barn…it could be a play house…or anything!!!

Can you just imagine it DRIPPING with flowers???

It could also be a covered bridge!!

I’m thinking that the possibilities are endless for this little gem!!! I really really need one!!!

I think maybe Grampie and Grammie should have one too…*)

Some Junkin’ Got Done!

So I had time on the weekend to do a little relaxin’…but instead I decided to do a little junkin’ with a friend. It was WAY too warm outside to do any yard work…but it was perfect to head out on a hunt!

It was a great day! Let me show you some of what I found!

I got this old rocking chair for a steal! I think she will sit outside on the patio for me to sit and admire my flowers from!

I was excited to get this pedestal. It is solid concrete and weights a tonne!!! I think it may just stay sitting on that dolly for the summer. Haha. The lady said she paid $129.00 for it last summer.

This is my favorite find! I got this concrete bird bath for next to nothing! In a garden center this piece would run at least $100 or more! The people were moving and didn’t want to take these things with them. They were practically giving them away. I have always wanted a solid and ornate birdbath…and this is perfect!

Where did I put all my treasures???

Well the chair and the pedestal found a home on the patio just beside the stairs to the sunroom. I love it in this spot. It is the first area to get shade in the daytime!

I also decided to leave the pedestal where it is…they look good together. I have always wanted a rocking chair for my gardens…I think it’s perfect!

I had a couple of resin doves sitting in the greenhouse…I think they compliment my birdbath enough to sit on there! The little birds have made a home in my vines on the front of the house…the least I can do is give them some accommodation! haha

I think it will just sit on the cement for this year. The beds are looking quite full…and I don’t really want to mess with them right now.

I think it looks okay (for now anyways!)

I am going to close with a few shots of my yard today.
