From Our Home To Yours.

Well guys, it’s that time of year again…another year is almost at a close and for many of us, it is a sentimental time.   We think of those we know and love, we get in touch with friends and family and if you are like our family, you think of those less fortunate than you, with generosity.   I just wanted to take a moment to extend warm wishes from our family to yours for a safe and very Merry Christmas!
Before I let you run off to your Christmas Celebrations, I wanted to share with you, a little something.   A few years ago I came across this poem that was written by Helen Steiner Rice,  and it is just so very fitting, that I am going to share it with you again.
Enjoy.

I have a list of folks I know, all written in a book
And every year when Christmas comes, I go and take a look,
And that is when I realize that these names are a part
Not of the book they are written in, but really f my heart
For each name stands for someone who has crossed my path sometime,
And in the meeting they've become the rhythm in each rhyme
And while it sounds fantastic for me to make this claim,
I really feel that I'm composed of each remembered name
And while you may not be aware of any special link
Just meeting you has changed my life a lot more than you think
For once I've met somebody, the years cannot erase
The memory of a pleasant word or of a friendly face
So never think my Christmas cards are just a mere routine
Of names upon a Christmas list, forgotten in between,
For when I send a Christmas card that is addressed to you,
It is because you're on the list that I'm indebted to
For I am but a total of the many folks I've met,
And you happen to be one of those I prefer not to forget
And whether I have known you for many years or few,
In some ways you have a part in shaping things I do
And every year when Christmas comes, I realize anew,
The best gifts life can offer is meeting folks like you.
And may the spirit of Christmas that forever endures
Leave its richest blessings in the hearts of you and yours.

It seems that this is a year of learning for us all…and Cowboy and I are NO exception to this rule.   This year we learned that no matter how busy our lives are with work and everything else….to NEVER wait until the week before Christmas to shop for gifts for the ones on our list!  Never again…lol…and I don’t think I need to explain why.  Smile
Christmas-Poems

Until Next Time…Merry Christmas!

*)*)*)… I'd rather be rejected for being who I am than accepted for being someone I'm not.  At least I don't have to keep track of my act...I can just be me!  Can you? When one does just a little too much to convince, the truth REALLY shines through.   Just Sayin’

A Letter To My Mom

It occurred to me the other day, that we often take for granted the people in our lives that mean the most to us.  As I go through my life loving you, appreciating you, and admiring you, I don’t generally take the time to tell you.   I always just assume that you know them.   Today, because it is Mother’s day, I think it might be nice if I made sure you know how I feel about you.

Since the first day of my life you have loved me, taken care of me and put my needs above your own.  You have disciplined me, taught me and encouraged me. You have sacrificed things I will never know about, and you did it all because you loved me.

You have given me so many things, that I often don’t even think about.   Your values, wisdom, unconditional love and support in every thing I do.   You have taught me honesty, and to live my life in such a way that  I can make myself proud.   You have always been the one that I turn to when my world is in crisis…for, even if I don’t take your advice, I do hear it.

I admire that you are such a strong and very successful lady in every thing you do.   Most everyone I have met, that knows of you either personally or casually respects and admires you mom.   You have built a very successful business, a beautiful home and well….best of all ME!

My children look up to you, feel safe with you and respect you for everything that you are.  They know that I am who I am, partly because of the example that you have set…and they know that you will always be there if ever they need you.  I am so glad to have such a strong role model for my children.   In this world there are so many challenges…that they need that.

I have many memories of fun times with you, that I will forever cherish…and do love to share them, and laugh about some of the ridiculous things that we have done.  I think that my most favorite memory is “please enter the code”, and any time it crosses my mind, I laugh out loud.  I am happy to say that this isn’t the only crazy day that I do think fondly of…and I hope there will be many more memories for us to make.

Mom, you are always a lady in every situation, and you handle yourself with dignity and class no matter how silly, difficult or ridiculous the circumstances are.   You have overcome hard times and flourished in good times.   I have been blessed with many things in my life, but the biggest most valuable thing, is that you are my mom.

Love your favorite Daughter

Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers Jan 17/14

Welcome!!!   Today is the first Fertilizer Friday party of 2014!!!!   Isn't that exciting!?

Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me really…there is no one else here…lol)  It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!!
Fertilizer Friday is the day of the week than an ELITE group of gardeners from all around the world get together, snap photos, link up and Flaunt Their Flowers!!!
If you are new to Tootsie Time and Fertilizer Friday, I just know you are asking yourself…”How do I join?”

Well…it’s easy really. Here’s all you need to know to become a part of this great group of gardeners, bloggers and friends:

If it is spring or summer where you live, you need to snap a few photos of what you have growing, blooming or just love to look at that is of the plant variety…if it is winter where you live, you may post past favorite photos…or indoor plants…whatever you like.
The only criteria is that it is a plant or something growing!
You do not need to use fertilizer to participate in this party, but if you do, this is the reminder to fertilize weekly!
All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootsie Time, or the linky will be deleted
I would like to invite each and every one of you to join in and share your photos...

This week I am celebrating EVERYONES birthday, by sharing this cute little thing I found while looking online for interesting and new flowers to plant in my yard this coming spring!  I decided that today was as good as any to share it...It isn't my flowers, but I haven't any to share...it is winter here!   So...I am sharing each month in flowers.

Traditional Birthday Flower Guide.
You have all heard of birth stones...and you have all heard of the traditional gift list....but have you heard of the traditional birthday flower guide? If you have not....today is your lucky day!
I found this online at a site called homestead garden.

Since it IS January...and we have a full year of birthday's to be ready for, I thought maybe everyone would enjoy seeing what the flower is for your birth month.

In Gem stones, I am an emerald...and in flowers I am a Lily of the Valley...(darn!  I wanted a better flower than that!  lol)    What are you?

January--Carnation

February--Violet
March--Jonquil
April--Sweet Pea or Daisy
May--Lily of the Valley
June--Rose

July--Larkspur
August--Gladiolus

September--Aster

October--Calendula

November--Chrysanthemum
December--Narcissus
I hope you enjoyed seeing which one you are! (at least no one is a Dandelion)

Until Next Time....Happy Celebrating (if it's your birthday!) :)

*)*)*)... Its not what you say, But how you say it..The tone of your words affect more than the words itself..

Welcome 2014!

Well friends, a new year is upon us, and it is cold cold cold here in Alberta Canada.   We have had freezing rains, frigidly cold weather and snow snow snow!  Myself…I am desperate for spring to come, as the winter months seem to drag on at a snail’s pace.  I want warm winds, spring rain and SUNSHINE!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season, and sent 2013 packing with a smile.   I wish for you all a great year to come, filled with all the good things life can offer, including love, good health and prosperity.

In spite of the bitter weather…2014 has come in with a smile for me.   I am in a good place in my life right now…busy, peaceful and happier than I thought I would ever be.   It feels good to be here…as you all know, there was a time that if anyone had told me that I would be even a fraction of this  happy 2 years ago, I would have told you that you were insane!

I have taken on a few new challenges this year, and I have been busy as a bee learning some new skills, and planning future projects…all of which I do plan to share with you all as soon as I can!    I plan to finish sharing the 108 year old house project (as I go along…and reveal a few changes I have been making inside my own house now.  I can’t hardly wait to get things finished up and share them!   It seems to take a lot longer to finish a project since I moved from the city to this little rural community.   If I don’t have the things I need to complete a project, the chances are pretty good that I will have to wait until I take a little road trip to a larger center to find what I need!   Be patient with me…I am working as fast as I can!  Smile

Our holiday break is almost over…Fertilizer Friday will resume it’s regular postings next week…  The post will be up in the early evening of January 16th!!!   I hope to see you all there with bells on!!!   I can’t wait to see what you all have to share from your greenhouses and gardens…

I have been snooping around in my seed catalogs at all the glorious flowers and plants that will inspire me to get planting the spring crop of annuals in the greenhouse.   Oh how I do love a little dirt therapy any time I can get it!

I have also been looking back at some past posts during our little break…and have made the decision to bring back a little thing that I used to do WAY back when Tootsie Time was young…The Q&A posts!   You guys remember them don’t you???   Those were the posts in which I did my best to answer questions that you all sent to me.   I really enjoyed those posts…and can’t wait to get started on another one or two!

So…What do you want to know?  Let me know!!!   You can send me your questions via my email…or you can simply pop them into the comments box at the end of this post…I moderate all comments, so they will not be published until AFTER I put up the post to answer! Smile

So….WELCOME 2014!!!   This is going to be an exciting year for us all…and I am just so excited to be able to share it all post by post with all of you….and equally excited to visit your pages and celebrate all of your lives too!
Enjoy the last week of our holiday break kids…we are about to get our Tootsie On very soon!

Until Next Time…Happy New Year!

*)*)*)…Paradise is wherever you are happiest...

YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW

Before I share a little story with you all today…I just want to say:
Happy Canada Day!!!! to all of my Canadian friends and followers…We are a proud Country…a strong people and I am so glad I live here!
flag_alberta_thumbnail

As we attend the Festivities of Canada Day, there are bound to be crowds of people, of all walks of life.  I ask you to keep in mind the following story as you head out to celebrate.

You Reap What You Sow

“Good morning”  said a woman as she walked up to the man sitting on the ground.

The man slowly looked up.
This was a woman clearly accustomed to the finer things of life. Her coat was new.. She looked like she had never missed a meal in her life.

His first thought was that she wanted to make fun of him, like so many others had done before.. "Leave me alone," he growled....

To his amazement, the woman continued standing.
She was smiling -- her even white teeth displayed in dazzling rows. "Are you hungry?" she asked.
"No," he answered sarcastically. "I've just come from dining with the president. Now go away."

The woman's smile became even broader. Suddenly the man felt a gentle hand under his arm.

"What are you doing, lady?" the man asked angrily. "I said to leave me alone.

Just then a policeman came up. "Is there any problem, ma'am?" he asked..

"No problem here, officer," the woman answered. "I'm just trying to get this man to his feet. Will you help me?"

The officer scratched his head. "That's old Jack. He's been a fixture around here for a couple of years. What do you want with him?"

"See that cafeteria over there?" she asked. "I'm going to get him something to eat and get him out of the cold for awhile."

"Are you crazy, lady?" the homeless man resisted. "I don't want to go in there!" Then he felt strong hands grab his other arm and lift him up. "Let me go, officer. I didn't do anything."

"This is a good deal for you, Jack" the officer answered. "Don't blow it.."

Finally, and with some difficulty, the woman and the police officer got Jack into the cafeteria and sat him at a table in a remote corner. It was the middle of the morning, so most of the breakfast crowd had already left and the lunch bunch had not yet arrived...

The manager strode across the cafeteria and stood by his table. "What's going on here, officer?" he asked. "What is all this, is this man in trouble?"

"This lady brought this man in here to be fed," the policeman answered.

"Not in here!" the manager replied angrily. "Having a person like that here is bad for business.."
Old Jack smiled a toothless grin. "See, lady. I told you so. Now if you'll let me go. I didn't want to come here in the first place."
The woman turned to the cafeteria manager and smiled....... "Sir, are you familiar with Eddy and Associates, the banking firm down the street?"

"Of course I am," the manager answered impatiently. "They hold their weekly meetings in one of my banquet rooms."

"And do you make a godly amount of money providing food at these weekly meetings?"
"What business is that of yours?"

I, sir, am Penelope Eddy, president and CEO of the company."
"Oh."

The woman smiled again. "I thought that might make a difference." She glanced at the cop who was busy stifling a giggle. "Would you like to join us in a cup of coffee and a meal, officer?"

"No thanks, ma'am," the officer replied. "I'm on duty."
"Then, perhaps, a cup of coffee to go?"

"Yes, ma’am. That would be very nice."

The cafeteria manager turned on his heel, "I'll get your coffee for you right away, officer."

The officer watched him walk away. "You certainly put him in his place," he said.
"That was not my intent. Believe it or not, I have a reason for all this."
She sat down at the table across from her amazed dinner guest. She stared at him intently.. "Jack, do you remember me?"

Old Jack searched her face with his old, rheumy eyes. "I think so -- I mean you do look familiar."

"I'm a little older perhaps," she said. "Maybe I've even filled out more than in my younger days when you worked here, and I came through that very door, cold and hungry."

"Ma'am?" the officer said questioningly. He couldn't believe that such a magnificently turned out woman could ever have been hungry.

"I was just out of college," the woman began. "I had come to the city looking for a job, but I couldn't find anything. Finally I was down to my last few cents and had been kicked out of my apartment. I walked the streets for days. It was February and I was cold and nearly starving. I saw this place and walked in on the off chance that I could get something to eat."

Jack lit up with a smile. "Now I remember," he said.. "I was behind the serving counter. You came up and asked me if you could work for something to eat. I said that it was against company policy."

"I know," the woman continued. "Then you made me the biggest roast beef sandwich that I had ever seen, gave me a cup of coffee, and told me to go over to a corner table and enjoy it. I was afraid that you would get into trouble... Then, when I looked over and saw you put the price of my food in the cash register, I knew then that everything would be all right."

"So you started your own business?" Old Jack said.

"I got a job that very afternoon. I worked my way up. Eventually I started my own business that, with the help of God, prospered." She opened her purse and pulled out a business card.. "When you are finished here, I want you to pay a visit to a Mr. Lyons...He's the personnel director of my company. I'll go talk to him now and I'm certain he'll find something for you to do around the office." She smiled. "I think he might even find the funds to give you a little advance so that you can buy some clothes and get a place to live until you get on your feet... If you ever need anything, my door is always opened to you."
There were tears in the old man's eyes. "How can I ever thank you?" he said.
"Don't thank me," the woman answered. "To God goes the glory. Thank Jesus...... He led me to you."

Outside the cafeteria, the officer and the woman paused at the entrance before going their separate ways...

"Thank you for all your help, officer," she said.

"On the contrary, Ms. Eddy," he answered. "Thank you. I saw a miracle today, something that I will never forget. And.. And thank you for the coffee."

God is going to shift things around for you today and let things work in your favor.
God closes doors no man can open & God opens doors no man can close…

I received this story in an email from a good friend…and it touched me enough to share with you all.  I have got a few friends who are having a difficult time for one reason or another right now…and I think this story is fitting for each of them to read.

Without any more delay…I wish you all a HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!   Be Safe Friends!

Until Next Time…Happy Celebrating!

*)*)*)   Happy endings in life are not just handed-out...You have to fight for them, earn them..and only with bruised hearts, torn souls, and sacrifices are they won...

Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers July 13/12

Copy_of_001

HAPPY FRIDAY AGAIN!!!! Welcome to the party!

Friday is a BIG day for us here at Tootsie Time…(ok, just me…there is no one else here…lol) It’s a big deal because it means it’s PARTY TIME!!!!
All I ask is that: Your post must include the logo above and/or a link to Tootsie Time, or the linky will be deleted.
So....I would like to invite each and every one of you to join in and share your photos...

I am still out and about on Vacation!!! Until I get home, I am going to leave the flower flaunting to you guys! I will, however share a special “weed." I have been growing this particular variety now for about 13 years.

DSCN0432

This particular weed goes by the pet name “Duch” or “Duchy” (pronounced DOOCH….or DOOCHIE) …(as he’s called around home)

On July 10 1999, I became a mom for the first time. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUD!!! YOU ARE OFFICIALLY A TEENAGER!!! (UGH…I don’t like the sound of that…ha ha)

My Bud has been the love of my life since the first moment I saw him! I am so proud of all that he has done and at what a great kid he has been. (mostly…ha ha)

I am lucky that he is usually around to give me a hand whenever I am desperate enough to ask…and hugs when I need them. He is a good kid…smart, athletic and best of all he’s mine!

DSCN3101

He has grown up so fast!!! Like a WEED!

I hope your birthday was wonderful! I can’t wait for you to come home and have a celebration with me! Arizona is nice…but mom’s place is HOME.

IMAG0291

I am sure he has that look on his face right now as he reads this sappy stuff!

Love you Baby!!! xoxo

I also want to wish the two crazy “gnome-rs” my mom and dad…(a.k.a Grampie and Grammie)…

DSCN3619

…Happy Anniversary!!! Without you…neither Me or my Bud would exist! We love you loads…and are lucky to have you! Did you find the gnome I put in your yard to celebrate the 11th of July…Your special day!

It is pretty bad when this is the only photo I have of you guys standing together …taken while I was laying under a shrub across the street, watching you discover all the gnomes I had hidden in your yard! ha ha! Love you guys!

ok…there is this one too…

Maybe some up to date family photos are in order here???? Perhaps some that include all of us with smiles??? At least one where Grammie isn't making a face would be fabulous! ha ha! uh huh…that is me in the photo with them!

This brings us to the end of my slightly unusual flaunt for this week. Now it is your turn…bring it on! (keep in mind, I will be away from my computer…and that I moderate all my comments, so with that being said, be patient with me…I will do my best to get online and publish what comments you leave as often as possible…but I will more than likely not be around to drool over your flaunts until I get home.)

What are you waiting for??? Get flaunting!

Wishing all of you hugs, smiles, and safe and happy weekend plans! Thank you all so much for dropping in today, and to those that faithfully link in to this party…and who are patient while waiting for me to finally visit you…THANK YOU!

Until Next Time….Happy Gardening!
