Okay...so Here I Go Again...With the Paint.

Helloooooo! Did ya think I would EVER finish my projects and share them with you? Well, let me tell ya, I had begun to wonder myself!
I have been a very busy girl...what with getting my ideas all sorted out...and getting them to become more than just thoughts in my head... ya...well it was a long process...ha ha. (not to mention the rest of life that seems to take up play time!)
Today I am joining in on the parties above and hope that you will head over there and visit once you have seen my offering. Just click the logos above to visit our lovely hostesses!
Without further chit chat...
Why don't I just show you what I have been doing to keep myself so busy:
This is the before of another experimental project. There are actually two of these babies...but today I will share only the after part of one.
Not the worst pattern or color...but I saw bigger and better things in the future for this slightly dated little loveseat.
I went ahead and started to paint the fabric...Yes...I painted another piece! I had an idea of a sofa that I had seen online a long time ago and I wanted to try to do a simple version of it. So I headed out and picked up some deep red paint....started painting and then I was seeing RED!!! The guy didn't make me a deep rich red...he made fire engine red!!!(not once but TWICE!)
So....I got busy and started to doctor up my paint. (after all...it was after 11pm when I decided the color was once again WAY wrong) I added a little black, and a lot of blue...and painted my little heart out...Several coats later, it still needed a little something...
So...the next morning I hopped into my truck and headed to the local hardware store...picked myself up a bag of twisted nylon rope. (hey...I needed lots and it is MUCH cheaper than the version in the fabric stores....besides...I was just going to paint it!)
I hot glued...and hot glued...and hot glued some more...This piece needed some interest...and I needed to hide the evidence that I had ripped off the skirt!
Here's a close up of what the rope looks like before I painted it.
Rope glued on...
I added some interest to the sides and back too...
Oops!!! you can see the other one (the second loveseat) in the back ground!!! Cat's out now!!! hee hee...
After that was all done....I painted it a few coats of my Custom made by me paint...and this is what I ended up with!
Ta-Da!!!
I then had to wait for the "muscle" to show up and help me move my ugly living room furniture to greener pastures...(so to speak) and then move this baby in.
Here is a shot of my living room today.
The piano and the cabinet are still there...for now. lol (please excuse the dust and streaks...my "assistant" was working very hard to help prep for this post- hey...she's only 5!)
I added the old trunk that I got years ago from my Dad. He had pulled it out of the attic of the old house that was on the site where they live now...I added some ball feet...oh...and in case you noticed...I did paint the chair again...to match. If you want to see what the chair transformed from...click here
My living room is still a bit of a work in progress...but it is coming along nicely. It will do the trick for now...it may not be perfect...and it really didn't cost me anything but a can of paint or two...but...I really needed that change.
I can't wait to see it all finished.
A fresh beginning, a fresh start, a fresh new look to a room that once held nothing but ugly memories for me. I am a happy camper!
Oh yea.......for a view of my inspiration on the painting of the fabric..please head over to My Everyday Passions...and see the painted sofa set that pushed my bravery button....and I am so glad I did!
Thanks Jeanne for sharing your painted furniture!!!
I am working on a couple of other transformations, so stay tuned!
Oh...I'd like to give a quick "wink" to my two "biggest fans"...you know who you are...I can see you! {;-)
happy lurking!

Just TRY and STOP Me Now!!!

Today, I am participating in all of the memes that you see here! Thank you to all of the gracious hosts that make these wonderful parties possible. To visit these host blogs and to see the others attending...please click the photos for each blog.
Those who read me regularly, will remember how much I HATE the living room furniture in my house, and also know that I am entering a new adventure in my life. A new chapter can only mean one thing...change! My living room is the next room to be getting a make over. The plan has been set...and I am putting some things in motion.
I have been tossing around a project in my mind now for quite a while, and finally had the nerve to give it a try. Today I am very proud to share one of my more fearless projects:
Do you all remember this arm chair that I picked up at a thrift shop last summer for just a few dollars? It was in really good shape, and there was only one area that didn't come completely clean for me, BUT...It didn't match anything other than Busy's room. I didn't mind sharing the chair with my oh so lovely assistant/ shadow/bossy little monkey, but her room is not quite large enough to accommodate her large litter of babies, and barbies...you get the idea....
SO....I mustered my nerve...and set to work.
What did I do to it you ask? Did I re-upholster it? NO
Did I slip cover it? NO....
I PAINTED MY CHAIR!
Yes...you heard that right...I PAINTED this chair! I used latex paint. I did one full coat of paint on the fabric with a stiff roller. Let it dry....Sanded it lightly with a fine grit sandpaper, and then used a small roller to apply another coat...let dry...sand...you get where I'm going with this...I did the whole process 5 times in total and then finished it off with a nice coat of finishing polish.
The back and sides are a little bit textured..would prefer them to have been a smooth fabric...but hey...the chair was less than $20! what do I expect? ha haHere's the close up of the painted fabric. It looks and feels very similar to leather!
Nope! It's not stiff...it is still nice and flexible...
I shared my chair with a few friends so far...and they all agreed...if I hadn't told them it was painted fabric...they would have thought I'd purchased a leather chair!
I did a bit of research before I decided to try this...and figured that I really had nothing to lose except a little paint...I was going to re-upholster it anyways. So...now we see how she wears...if nothing else, it bought me a little time!
The living room in my house is getting a make-over. I am waiting for the "muscle" to move the awful sofa set that is in there OUT to the garage to be donated, sold...burned (oops! did I say that?) not burned...donated...lol
I am now on the prowl for something else to paint...re-finish...whatever...I am on a roll!
I will share this room in the near future...I just need to find more than my own muscles to remove that stuff first!
So? What do you think?
P.S. The geraniums popped up last week...will show you on Wednesday!

Fat Free/Calorie Free CHOCOLATE! (yea, that's what I said! ) Final reveal of weekend of painting.

This is a long one...and by long I mean there is a LOT of revealing photos being shown here...and by revealing...I mean this is the post that finishes the project of painting the main parts of my home. This project took me about three days...( including both bathrooms that I shared before) and I did have a lot of fun. My main color of choice turned out to be Heart of Bronze. It is a Sico paint...and I am very impressed with the coverage...only two coats...even on the lightest walls! As sad as I was to let go of the wash treatment that I thought looked so good...there was that one spot...(you'll see) and the need for a little change...and I am in love with this new color!
The green you are going to see...is called Rattan Palm...it is a Pittsburg product. So...without further adieu...here are the before and after photos of my home!
Dining room...before
After
opposite of the table...Before.
opposite of the table...AFTER
Yep! those are some holiday embellishments! I'm getting there! lol the skate is ceramic...but it looks real doesn't it?
Remember this large heart shaped wreath above the stair well??? it saw better days...hit the trash and was replaced by a new paint job and...
I added some iron! I have a plan to add some more to this display on the wall...just have to find the right pieces!
Quick close up of the tiny front door table below iron on the wall...
This is the wall opposite the iron in the front entrance...I have always had a display on there...this is the BEFORE...
AFTER! The display got a change too!
My old extension ladder...with photos of pets and my kids...Living room Before....can you see the unfinished spot that I could not reach????? ya...lets just let that go ...bad bone of contention.
AFTERBEFORE....
AFTER!
AFTER!!! with a little holiday decor added already...
My "book shelves" in the downstairs hallway...BEFORE...
BAM! AFTER!
Family room Before....
After...all I need to do is decide how to re-hang those photos of my kids...and place the snow men where they actually won't look like junk...lol
I also did a quick re-make of the movie/book cabinet...note the light color in this...the before,
here it is After! A little dark walnut stain goes a long way! and last...but not least...
I got one of my trees up! I'ts not quite full yet...still have more to add to it...but so far...so good!
Not too bad for a weekend project...including popping my hip out while WAY up on the ladder above the stairs at the front door. The house is not quite so pretty at this moment...Christmas has exploded here...lol
See you all for Fertilizer Friday!
